Blubbing!

Bloggie friends!

Is it possible to cry solidly for over two hours because of a film? Yes it is!

I totally blubbed for that time while watching Les Miserables last week! And not just me, my friend and this lady next to me - we were passing each other tissues, we were that traumatised!

I hope this film bags some Oscars cos it was truly sensational - it ripped my heart out and squeezed it dry!

Charlie says: The Gumster smells!

As for my blood donation - erm... well after six tries (3 in each arm) the blood woman gave up trying to find a vein and I passed out! LOL!! Seriously. My name has now been struck off the blood list! Oh dear. Well at least I tried!

Have a great week everyone!

It's a shame you weren't able to give blood (I'd be worried about missing some veins if I were you) but at least you tried. I've never seen Les Mis and I have no idea of the plot so I'll have to take your word on it's ability to make one weepy.

Don't worry, Old Kitty, we blubbed through Les Miserables, too! :)

I've been doing a lot of blubbering over the last 24hrs. But having read the last paragraph ('six tries (3 in each arm) the blood woman gave up trying to find a vein and I passed out! LOL!! Seriously') I burst out laughing. Thanks :)

I haven't seen that movie yet and I think now I'll have to wait because I certainly don't want to be blubbing in public!

Glad you enjoyed it :)

Yikes, no wonder you passed out after having been stuck a half-dozen times! Hope your arms aren't too sore.

Gumtree and Charlie appear to be tolerating one another fairly well...good to see!

Hope you have a great week too!

I so want to see Les Mis. I love that kind of crying!!! (Yeah, I'm a little strange.)

Hope you and the kitties are doing well.

And I'm so sorry you were poked with a needle six times. Ack!!! I would've passed out too.

((hugs))

Julia Hones said...

Well, at least Charlie and Gumtree did not cry. Yes, I also cry when I watch certain movies... and I don't tend to watch the ones with happy endings.

The Chair Speaks said...

Charlie, your mom's so very brave. Our human's a coward when it comes to needles. Purrs!

Manzanita said...

You flunked your blood test? Did you study for it? ynuk ynuk ynuk

Sorry, that was a corny one.

I only cried toward the end in Les M. And not very much, but my daughter and the lady next to her were blubbering almost from the beginning. They've made many different movies and at first I couldn't see how they could turn it into a musical but I went out of the theater wanting to grab one of the flags and wave it.

Karen Jones Gowen said...

That always happens to me too because my veins are too small, so I no longer give blood. Les Miserables is on my TO SEE list!

Janet Johnson said...

Kudos to you for trying to give blood! I have actually passed out before, and last time I tried, they refused because my PULSE was too low! Crazy, huh?

But Les Miserables was fantastic. Totally agree!

Helena said...

I haven't seen Les Mis yet but I saw it on stage in New York years ago and loved it. And I cried. And so did everyone else in the theater. I assume I'm going to cry through the movie.

I'm so sorry you passed out! I've donated blood and it's not fun, so it's very good of you to try. Maybe Gumtree and Charlie will make you feel better.

Hmmm, I'll take your word for how sensational the movie is. I've certainly seen a lot of mention of it. But I don't want to cry for two hours! LOL!

Have a great week...Send good vibes for Toby, I'm going to try sometime this week, when I screw up my courage. :-)

Patsy said...

You are having a time of it!

Hope you actually enjoyed Les Mis despite the blubbing.

Natalie Aguirre said...

So sorry you passed out while trying to give blood. That doesn't sound fun at all.

Thanks for the movie recommendation. I'm always looking for good movies to add to my list.

We hope you didn't get a lump on your head when you passed out Jenn - Mum used to donate blood and it's just made her think they've not asked her for ages. Maybe they don't come round here any more. We hope you got a cup of tea and a biscuit for effort. Now boys make a fuss of your Mum and give her whiskery kisses.

Cat and DOG Chat With Caren said...

now I MUST see that movie! Everyone has said it is sooo good!
Don't feel bad about the blood. Years and years ago I donated and they held me for a half hour after it was done because they said my face turned beyond ashen!!! I am also on the banned from giving blood list!
xoxoxo

Jemi Fraser said...

Oh no!!! I'm sorry about the blood work and the fainting!! I'm not allowed to give blood becuase of the meds I'm on - good for you for trying!

I haven't seen Les Mis - I'll have to wait until it's released as a DVD - i don't sob quietly :)

Debbie Coope said...

Have you been to the gym, too? The phrase blood, sweat and tears comes to mind. Have a brew. That'll sort you out. :)

Hart Johnson said...

Oh, MAN--me too. Of course it doesn't take much to make me cry, but that one was definitely a tear-jerker.

Lydia Kang said...

Visually, it looks like an amazing film! I cry at the drop of a hat, so I'd probably cry like crazy too. :)

TheReadingPenguin said...

I'm terrified to watch Les Mis, because I'm a crier anyway--I could win medals if there were an Olympic sport involving tears--and I have a friend, who rarely cries at movies, who wept like a little baby at that movie. I just don't know if I should...

Rene said...

Oh dear, sorry about the blood. . .yes, you tried!

What does Gumtree smell like, Charlie??

Unknown said...

I haven't seen Les Miserable. I would say you did more than try. Two is my limit! After six, I would have passed out too.

Carol Kilgore said...

Funny blood story! You have no more worries about being attacked by vampires :)

Marg said...

I thought that Movie would be a sad one but it is probably worth seeing anyway.
Sorry they couldn't get any blood out of you. Now that was not any fun at all. Hope you have a great day and our best to Charlie and Gumdrop.

It is very possible to cry for a film. Not sure about crying for two hours...
Three movies had me squeeze-cry my tears out: Sacco and Vanzetti (but this was angry cry), The Bridges of Madison County, and A Perfect World. The last two movies by Clint Eastwood.
Fortunately, I watched the movies by myself, so no one saw me.

Tamago said...

I am not sure if my earlier comment went through...having some internet issues here :-(
Anyway the movie sounds pretty good. I would love to see this one!
I hope you recovered from blood donation attempt...they sure appreciate you help :-)

Have a great week too!

I've only ever seen the old black and white version of the non-musical film for Les Miz. But I LOVE all the songs, and just thinking about the story makes me misty. So I KNOW I'd be blubbing, too--LOL!

Good stuff~ <3

Nas said...

Now I really need to watch this movie. I've heard contradicting opinions on FB and twitter so far so was holding off.

Unknown said...

Wow, I didn't know they would give up trying to find a vein. I didn't even know you could not find a vein.

I haven't seen Le Mis but now I know to watch it at home and have lots of tissues on hand.

Mum is not sure if she should see Les Mis or not. Is it very traumatic. Mum can also relate to the blood donation thing because years ago mum also passed out because of giving blood, So yes mum knows how you feel.. ugs GJ xx

PK HREZO said...

Oh wow, last time that happened to me was during Titanic. LOL I do want to see it but will prolly have to wait for the home release. Love Russell Crowe!!

William Kendall said...

I'd cry too having to sit through a musical! Tis cruel and unusual punishment, it is!

Having had given blood on many occasions, I remember seeing donors who had a bad reaction to the whole process.

Esme said...

You did try to donate and I guess that is what counts-the experience sounds horriffic. I want to see Les Mis. I just do not want to cry.

I love seeing photos of the little one and Charlie.

OH dear 6 sticks!
That was no fun.

Glad you "enjoyed" Les Mis!

I really want to watch Les Miserables. It sounds like an amazing film! :)

Stina said...

Thanks for the warning. I can't even make it through a Pixar movie without crying. Les Miserable would do me in. Maybe I'll just rent it instead. :D

Anonymous said...

Les Mis is on my list and Jen's!!! We'll probably cry too.

As for blood...I'd love to give, but at a mere 90 pounds I don't weigh enough :) or :( whichever way you look at it!

Hugs and waves from me and Jen. Thanks for stopping by today!!!

KarenMcG said...

Glad to know you loved Les Mis even if you did cry through it.

Bummer about the blood thing--you were really brave.

Charlie and Gumtree are so cute.

Pat @ Mille Fiori Favoriti said...

Oh no! I was never able to donate blood either, as my hemoglobin was always too low.

Another movie I habve not had the chnace to see as yet! I did LOVE the NY Broadway play which ran for many years. I saw it four times. It is a remarkable story put to music!

cleemckenzie said...

Oh dear! That blood giving experience does not sound good. Your heart's in the right place, Old Kitty, but your veins aren't cooperating. :-)

Jayne said...

Aw - at least you tried with the blood giving. I do hope you got your biscuit anyway!

And I lasted out so well at Les Mis and then at the end? Was bawling my eyes out!

Maria McKenzie said...

I have got to see Les Mis! I know I'll cry:(. Sorry your donation didn't work out!

Maria said...

Ugh! Sorry to hear about your blood troubles, I'm in the same camp too, not good at giving blood!

They have even tried finer needles, and taking it from other parts of my body which is not to be recommended.

I've not seen Les Mis yet, but keep hearing wonderful things!
Have a good week. ;-)

fairyhedgehog said...

I am so not watching that film!

It was good of you to try so hard to give blood. It just wasn't meant to be.

I haven't seen Les Miserables yet. I'm sure I'd be a blubbery mess too if I did. But crying is good for the soul.

Oh, sorry about that experience. I have small veins and one arm is better than the other when it comes to finding veins.

I'd like to see this movie.

Hi Old Kitty - gosh six goes .. that's a bit far to be needled. They didn't like me as I'd come from Africa - not much help! I gave up.

Les Mis .. is on my list to see - and it won't leave the cinema without me seeing it - ok tissues to the fore - I gather it is excellent ..

Next week Eastbourne will have some unusual rain! - so pleased you had a good time .. and that the two delightful feline friends are outside a little .. bet it's not for long! Cheers Hilary

Theresa Milstein said...

Old Kitty, poor you! You are just like me with giving blood. You must've been traumatized.

I still haven't seen Les Mis. Now I want to even more!

Sharon K. Mayhew said...

We loved Les Mis too!

It's disappointing when you try to give blood and can't. My iron is never high enough according to the Red Cross. My doctor checked it and said it is fine...yet I continued to fail their iron test.

Optimistic Existentialist said...

I still need to see this soon!!

Susan Fields said...

Your blood-giving experience sounds awful! I'm super fair, so I always get comments about how easy my veins are to find. Not a good thing, but I guess it has its plusses. :)

Luna said...

Ouch! So sorry for your experience with trying to donated blood. You did a good thing! ((hugs))

Oh...I haven't seen that movie yet! I hope to catch it on DVD when it's available. I'll be sure to have tissues ready!

Love that picture of the kitties. Have a fabulous weekend!

Summer Ross said...

Great picture! Charlie's such a character. I'm sorry you were struck off the list.
I have yet to see Les Mis. My manly man and I agreed to rent it when it came out for video. I hear it's really good.

klahanie said...

Please forgive me! So late, so very late commenting.

Perhaps the title of the film is a bit of a clue in why you cried. No, sorry. Seriously, nothing like a good cleansing cry and your heart was clearly touched by the film

Sorry about your blood donation disaster. Hope they gave you some biscuits, anyway :)

See ya, eh

did you try to give blood just after crying for hours at the film?.. maybe a bit dry? .. just kidding... we know what you mean about the film. Cried from almost 10 mins in... and didn't really stop till the end. It felt good though - cathartic. Loved the singing and that it was their own voices, made it real and told the story so beautifully. I have seen the stage version twice and liked it very much but the film really explained the story. Loved the close up faces and it didn't feel long at all (though critics said it was). GREAT. Thanks for taking time to leave us a comment. Love Helen, Darcy and Bingley xxx

I've heard a lot of good things about that movie but I'm going to have to pass. I'm not a big fan of musicals. :(
