Bloggie friends!
The lovely Susan Kane of thecontemplativecat just emailed me with the fabbo news that for a few nights only the UK night skies (11/12 March) will be graced with the sight of FIVE PLANETS! Mercury, Venus, Mars, Saturn, Jupiter and Uranus. Details here.
I’ve just returned from wandering outside in the dark in the hope of catching a glimpse of these planets with my naked eye. All I saw was the big round pregnant full moon glowing a glorious sheen of red but then I ran back in the house when I heard howling dogs heading my way!
Ahem.
Now try saying Uranus without tittering! LOL!
Charlie says: I glow under the sun’s rays.
Pic taken 10 March - Spring was truly in the air!
Happy St Patrick’s and Happy Mother’s Day (UK) this weekend! See y'all on Monday.

Just love your description of the moon!
Kitty, I could grace you with a dozen Uranus jokes. I will refrain.
Hope you get to see one of the planets!
HaHa! I once wrote a rant/poem using the planets (why isn't Pluto deemed a planet anymore - scientific discrimination?) and Uranus always drew a smattering of giggles and/or laughs when people read it.
Oh I wish I could see the planets too...
Purrs from Gotchi
First I miss the meteor shower, and now this. Boooo :(
Poor Uranus, the BUTT of so many jokes.
I really love to see those planets too but you have to tell my mom to open the door for me ; )
Please !...Pretty Please !
xoxo
WOW! Five planets, that's really amazing! I wish I could see that. However, the moon is just as beautiful when is full so I don't mind doing a little moon-gazing ;)
Happy St. Patty's!
HaHaMeow! Mommy is laffin her asterik off!
Charlie, you're glowing, indeed!
It's always neat when planets and stars line up, isn't it?
It's getting very springy here, too. The blackbirds have begun to return to claim their territory and we've even heard a woodcock! I imagine the peepers will be peeping any day now :)
Yikes...howling dogs! :-) That picture of Charlie is beautiful. Love the light! Have a great Monday!! xx
Now I must get a plane ticket to the UK!
I'd have run inside if howling dogs were coming my way, too! Well, unless they were my dogs. Hee!
Cool about the planets!
Have a great week!
How fascinating! Get your binoculars out!
Oh Charlie, you are looking so handsome in the sun!!
My youngest had an astrology night at his school last year and I saw Saturn through the telescope. An amazing experience, although nothing could top being at Mount Cook in New Zealand on a clear night and seeing the Milky Way.
Being in Colorado I may be too far south to see the display, but tomorrow night I'm still gonna be up on my building's deck and checking out the night sky. The display of planets sounds lovely.
I was standing out in the garden last night too looking at the night sky. Thank you for this, I didn't know we'd be able to see so many of our neighbours :-)
Gorgeous Charlie looks ready to soak up those spring rays x
Hi Old Kitty .. the moon was lovely last night .. but now too late to see those planets! It is now a glorious Spring Day .. enjoy St Patrick's Day and Mother's Day weekend .. a few things happening! cheers Hilary
I'd be the same about the dogs.
That sounds really intriguing, a pregnant moon, such a lovely image:)
Spring for you and Charlie means autumn down this way :-(
I hope you get to see all the planets, how fabulous that would be! What about binoculars? Would that be sufficient? Very cool.
Happy upcoming St. Patrick's Day and Mother's Day too. Have a wonder-full week, both of you. :-)
So beautiful Spring feeling with sunlight, this picture is adorable!
As the weather is not so cool here in Luxembourg, I'm going to take my important naps now...zzzzzzz
I wish you a nice week sweet friends!
Luna - WE LOVE LUNA
Charlie is smart to enjoy the sun more. As lovely as the night sky is--no sun spots!
The full moon was beautiful this week. But no howling dogs chased me. Glad you made it inside in time--whew!
lol at the tittering.
I always miss it when there's some great thing happening in the skies. Maybe I need to look up more? lol
We would run if we heard howling dogs too! We love the way the sun lights up your furs, Charlie.
We can never see anything that great from outside. Wish we could get out in the country more where there's no lights so see the all the amazing things the sky has to show.
Very cool!! I'm going to try and see if I can see anything with my binoculars!
Ow woo! I hope the light saturation deosn't spoil the view for you.
Charlie does look radiant.
Trust you to find the sun's warm rays Charlie - we did too and it was a wonderful weekend. We didn't know about the planets being visible we'll have to get Mum to show us tonight if it's not cloudy or misty or she forgets!!
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
Spring is in the air, isn't it! Yay! All I can see is the orange glow from light pollution in the London sky... sigh.
LOL! It is quite the name for a planet, isn't it?
Too bad it all coincided with the bright full moon, but very cool! My dad would be jealous. :)
I never seem to have a clear night when cool things are visible in the sky. Always cloudy *sigh*
I've always been fascinated by astronomy.
Charlie thinks he's the only heavenly body worthy of adoration, of course.
I don't know about those planets, but you and Charlie are stars!
Happy days to you, too, my friend! Look at Charlie all bundled up in a ball. Give him lots of scratches for me, and you guys enjoy your lovely spring weather!
I always say I'm going to stay up and watch planetary events... and I never do. :D <3
I really, really hope the skies are clear tonight. Super excited about seeing this!
Wow, Jenn! When the planets align like that it must mean something big will occur. I hope you get to see them tonight!
Thanks for all your support --I always love your comments on my posts.
Enjoy the spring weather that is starting to appear and give Charlie and couple fo chin tickles from me!
Charlie is so beautiful. Happy Mother's day to you and a great St. Patricks also.

Mums been on nights and has been looking for the sight in the sky every night but no luck at all. Love your sunbathing picture.. HUgs GJ xx
He DOES glow!!!!
I love looking at the stars and planets...can't tell which is which tho, LOL!
I've heard a lot about the stars and the meteors, blah, blah, blah and while I think it would be cool to catch a glimpse of all those phenomena but I can't do without my beauty sleep, you know? I bet Charlie is never without his!
:)
The Spring is coming!!! Enjoy the warm sun!
Five planets at once? That is super cool! And Charlie looks good in sun or shade. :-)
Oh Charlie you are a twinkling star in your own right.
Hope you were able to see those heavenly stars.

I can see a really bright star twinkling tonight. Have no idea which planet it is. Where's Prof Brian Cox when you need him?
The other night, we saw Saturn, Venus, and Mercury and a huge full moon. That was pretty incredible!
I'm always trying to catch a glimpse of these "big stars." I hope you saw something.
The full moon was beautiful days ago.
Have a wonderful week.
Is St. Pat's Day this weekend? Wow, I'm so behind. :)
You glow and you are totally beautiful. I love how you look. xoxoxoxo
Yes, I love your description of the moon, too!
Glad the sun is shining on you and spring has found its way to you and Charlie. Enjoy and have a lovely week! Hope you have a wonderful St. Patrick's Day, too.
Take care...:)
Sorry I couldn't get past Uranus! teehee!
The Mayans predicted the planets would align in a way not seen for a long time this year - could this be what we are seeing this week?
Charlie does glow under the sun!
It sounds wonderful that those planets could be seen. I wonder if we can see them from our country?
Oh 'Old Kitty'! Congratulations! You won a giveaway at my blog!

I still giggle when I say Uranus. :)
URANUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hehehehehe!!!!!
Love star gazing but I'm not good enough to identify planets. Love your black spot, Charlie!
I laughed every time I read the headline "There's rings around Uranus".
Hope you get to see the planets.
Thanks for the link! Very cool to see stuff like this with the naked eye. Binnoculars or a simple cheap telescope are great to use too.
Funny! I hope you were finally able to see them, and I hope you weren't eaten by dogs!
I hope you get to see some planets! Spring is definitely in the air here, too - actually, with the temperature in the 80s this week, it seems like we skipped right to summer!
Hey, thank you for the heads up! I wish we didn't have so much light pollution. It makes stuff hard to see unless we get out of town a ways, but I will give it a try.
That planet needs a better name. Charile, on the other hand, is perfect!
I wish I had a telescope
Actually it'll be 6 - if you look down at the ground too!
...we think we can even smell Spring over here at your place. Thanks. Love Helen, Darcy and Bingley xxx
Oh, lucky you, girl! Howling dogs would certainly chase me back in, too!
I hope you have another chance to spy the planets!

Sadly it's been foggy here so I didn't get to see the planets - at least that meant I didn't get chased by howling dogs!
A few (less than that) planets aligned here, too. It was pretty amazing to see three bright objects exactly in tandem with each other in the night sky. :)
Not sure if we can see a paw infront of our faces down here in the fog :-) Have a great week young Charlie, soak 'em up.....

The weather looks beautiful where you are! My kids' school pronounces Uranus as YUR-uh-nus so it doesn't cause any giggles!
But you've seen Venus and Jupiter at least, haven't you? They're the easiest ones to spot! And Mars too! Too red not to notice it...
The moon has been gorgeous lately here. That's all we've been able to see too because of cloud cover. I loved your post. Mom Julie says: It's funny how looking at a night sky is always accompanied by barking or howling dogs!!
Tom
xx
Ah yes, Susan does a wonderful blog. I'm one of her um 'starstruck' fans.
And no, I'm not going to say something predictable about the fact they found rings around your Uranus! :)
And are you and Charlie ready for the Blogathon show of 'Blogger's Got Talent'? Remember I mentioned that you would get another opportunity to perform in the 'Animal Bloggers' category.
Penny says, "arf! arf!"
Take care,
x
Well, hit something wrong and lost our comment. But Happy Mother's Day and ST Patrick's.
Guess it must be Mother's Day in the UK?
I laughed every time I read the headline "There's rings around Uranus".
Hope you get to see the planets.
Hi Old Kitty,
Did you get to see any planets?
Charlie is so adorable!
Riya
That's so interesting. I hope you did manage to see some of them. :-)
WEll at least you tried to see all those planets. Charlie, you look like you are enjoying spring coming. We sure are enjoying it too.
We have been taken off the Google reader list because we are not a Blogger Blog. Bad blogger.
Take care.
Thanks so much for your kind comment on my blog. It means so much to me.
On another note, my husband was watching a youtube video about a sphere that was seen hanging onto the sun with a cord-like thing, have you seen it?
Oh Dog! It must be a great party to have all them planets showing up for it.
Did you see the planets?
Very cool!
So, how come Uranus gets all the good jokes? Poor Pluto. Poor Moon.
; )
Katie
Love that photo of Charlie catching some sunbeams. He looks so regal.
Glad you got in the house before the dogs got you, Old Kitty. But what kill joys they were to spoil your sky gazing.
mind that naked eye of yours!
Sorry - i'm late commenting so missed the event but I echo what Karen said, i love how you described the moon:)
Uranus...I won't go there...I do have a wee bit of self~control. Heeehehehe!!!
Looks like Mr. Charlie found a spotlight beam of sunlight to brighten up his day!!!
God bless ya sweetie and have yourself a bang~up day!!! :o)
I saw 3 planets...the others must have been hiding!
I'm sure Charlie looks just as handsome in moonlight as he does in a sunbeam!

Oh Charlie, you look so cute, and happy... I hope you and your mommy have a great mother's day!
Oh well lucky you! Hope you get to see some stellar sights! And Charlie too cuz I know he's interested. ;)
I can NEVER say Uranus without tittering ... I'm Scorpio, so Pluto and Mars are my guys. Fortunately they are supposed to be making a Grand Trine with Jupiter and that is supposed to be good for me, so I'm WAITING!!
I want to see the planets too but it's very hard to see them where I live in London.
Happy St Patrick's Day and Mother's Day to you too.
Hey Old Kitty
Thanks for dropping by to my, er, house :-)
Have just had whale of a time catching up on your recent posts - lively, witty and enjoyable as ever - sorry so long away - thanks for the laughs !! (and for publishing that planet name!)

well, I did see the planets and then went inside and said, okay that was cool...Charlie cares about that stuff about as much as I do!
But does Charlie glow in the dark? Now that would be cool. Eerie. But cool.

Uranus. Nope, just can't be done without twittering!
Hugs to Charlie--Super Cat!
Thanks so much for coming by this morning!
Charlie, I hope that you saw the stars.
We could see two very big lights in the sky at night all week. I thought they were two satellites but now realise they must have been two of those planets, how awesome...
How exciting to see all 5 planets at once! I hope Charlie enjoyed the view as well!
