So there I was suffering from writer's block when this happened!

A little chaffinch came hopping across the outside windowsill looking in!

Charlie says: I stay on the wrong windowsill!

Gumtree says: Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Charlie really wanted that bird, didn't he?

That is one nosy little chaffinch. It might be a good thing, for it at least, that Charlie was on the wrong window.

It always fascinates me how you're always there at precisely the right time to take such great pics!

And as for stationary ... love love love it :)

I had to look up chaffinch 'cause sadly we don't have those in Colorado, though we do have other finches.

My kitty is more fascinated by a mouse that comes up on the outside of the windowsill, and only at night and that's for the bird seed.

Manzanita said...

Chaffinch, I'm not familiar with that bird but it looks little and sweet beyond the curtain. He wants to visit Charlie and Gumtree, but the question is, do they want to visit him? Ha ha

I had a bird feeder up over the winter and my cats loved watching - a little too much, lol. My poor screen...

What is a chaffinch?

Don't feel bad, Charlie! The line at the grocery store that I enter always goes slower than the one I passed up! Lovely bird photo! :-)

Lucky for the birdie no one seemed terribly interested! :)

Change windows quickly Charlie to see the birdie - you can have which window you like because Gumtree is sleeping and we think you may be enjoying the peace!!

Charlie is so pretty! I love his ear markings!

I have feeders in the front yard and one right beside my east side office window. I love seeing them fly in and a couple of my cats love the entertainment of fluttering winds.

Oh, that little birdie was lucky not to have had kitties paying attention! He might have been given a heart attack otherwise! Cali goes nuts if anyone is in our yard, bird, squirrel, chipmunk... Birds are best because she makes that chirping sound.

wildcatwoods said...

April in USA is card and letter writing month - so let's get some letters going!!! Our wrens come and chirp outside the window when the feed is low!

Norma said...

Charlie looks disappointed. Gumtree couldn't care less. Lucky for the bird!

Aw they missed the birdie!! Hard to get cats excited about anything these days. Ho-hum. :)

Haha. So cute. I was rehearsing for a wedding and there was a robin that kept trying to get in the window by us. Not at full speed. Just tap, tap, tap. Tap, tap, tap. . Eventually I had to go over there and scare it away before it hurt itself! haha

Maria McKenzie said...

Very cute and very safe birdie! I'm sure he was thankful Charlie was inside. Gumtree didn't look like much of a threat at the time;).

And am glad Charlie was standing on the wrong windowsill.

I get pigeons who are always on the outside sills looking in. I'm sure they're jealous and I'm expecting a bird revolution anytime.

I saw this post and knew you'd love it:
