Where everyone knows your (blog) name

Apparently according to this article in Copyblogger's site there are two essential principles you should adhere to for your blog to be effective:

1) Be yourself. Embrace your weirdness. Be your weird and wonderful self. You will soon find that you are not alone.

2) Create the "Cheers" effect "where everyone knows your name". Create a safe haven, a home where lost souls may wander in, put their feet up have a cup of tea and a slice of banana bread and just chill.

I may have misinterpreted the article but I kind of like these two things.

They make for a nice start to the weekend!

Thanks for the link. I just left a comment on that post. As far as odd topics for a blog, I'm right up there!

His blog is all about teaching blog promotion, and he's entertaining as he does it. To me, blog is about community. It's nice to learn about other people and have people learn about you.

I like your interpretation. Think we should stick with it.

I discovered copy blogger from your blog list one day. I was debating whether to add it to my blog roll or not. I'll go check it out again.

Those are wonderful suggestions! It is always good to be true to yourself as we have to please ourselves first, and then friendly towards others, as who doesn't like that?

Off to read the whole article..thanks!

Embrace the weirdness. I like that! At my age, that's all I can do. ;-)

Have a lovely day!

Those are good principles I think. Although the first one did make me think of that Armstrong and Miller sketch where the guy always says too much!

Hi!

Sounds good to me. How do I access my cup of tea and banana bread?

Hi Theresa

I agree about the copyblogger's content - a bit too cut-throat for me but some quite handy tips too.
