We don't have cookies, just books!

Cookie Monster

Cookie Monster will always be my favourite from Sesame Street.

How could he not be? He was tenacious and very focused and had a clear vision of his life's path and in acheiving his singular goal.

Cookies.

In particular the eating of as many as possible.

Being a Cookie Monster sort of explains why.

Libraries

I love them and I will defend their existence as a sacrosanct place to read, browse, study and have quiet silent time pondering the many texts and wondrous information on line or in print.

I don't want it to have cafes inside library space. Nor do I want to be forever having to clear desks of half drunk coffee cups, opened packets of crisps and screwed up bits of chocolate and sweet wrappers.

I want my librarians to go "shhhh!"

Cookie Monster + Libraries = Cookies + Books

Charlie says: all libraries should have cats.

Have a happy Wednesday everyone!

Jen says her favorite is Kermit the Frog, because he's green. That's right. And he's neat, too. These are her words. I think I favor Big Bird. Don't know why. Maybe he's the way I'd like to be. Not concerned about feeling conspicuous. He's just himself. No apologies. He's even-tempered, Jen says. "He's really cool." And so are you, Old Kitty. And Charlie--we love Charlie for being...Charlie. And yes, as Charlie says, all libraries should have cats.

I LOVE when I go to bookstores or little shops where they have cats, so (as usual) I agree with Charlie.

I'm a big fan of libraries. Cookie Monster is one of my Sesame Street favorites. When I was a kid, Grover was my favorite, but I think he may be kind of whiney. Still, I like him better than Elmo.

I TOTALLY agree with you on this one! I adore cookies but they do not mix with libraries. Or books. Unless it's me at home in bed reading the book and eating the cookies.

Imagine a cat nuzzling your leg while you are deeply ensconced in your research? That would be nice.

(Though it could use some nice upholstery for our furry friend!

I love love love libraries, too! :)

I don't think libraries should have cofee shops either. If you want a coffee with a book--go to a book store with a coffee shop in it.

I am SO with you! Libraries should be like churches. Heck, to me they ARE church! Although I've gone a little pagan with my Kindle...

I am a big library fan as well, I like it quiet too, but a little bit of noise is fine in the childrens section to encourage them early to read and find the wonder of a book.

I'm a librarian so though quiet is good, i love when i hear a teenager get excited over a new series of vampire books or the children admire their colouring pages... my favorite had to Animal, he was very hot!

I have a sudden craving for cookies, preferably chocolate chunk. :-)

Charlie definitely is right! Some libraries do have cats, though. One of the blogs on the CB is about the cat.

Happy Wednesday to you too!

Charlie - our local library has a cat who lives nearby that goes in and has a sleep on one of the chairs. She gets lots of attention and has to be thrown out when they close!

We love books too ;)

Count Dracula was my favorite! The two hecklers in the muppet show were my other favorite. Anyway cookies in the library Ohhhh no. When did coffee and food have to be served everywhere. Food vendors leave the libraries alone.

But I LOVE cookies! AND libraries.

My biggest pet peeve is someone talking on their cell phone in the library! If looks I give them could kill...

I'm a Kermit fan...and Oscar.

I love the cookie monster too! And cookies. And those old, magical libraries like the one in Trinity College Dublin!

I've definitely had jobs where I wanted to send that back to certain clients... :)

I agree Old Kitty! Book stores can put in cafes and play CD's but libraries should be quiet places where patrons cna read in peace!

I live just a few blocks away from my library and I'm often there piling up books to take home :-)

We agree that libraries should only be libraries! I am not even a fan of bookstores that are cafes either.

But we love the idea of cats in libraries! There is a listing of them - and of course there it Tober who has his own blog and everything - I love him and hope to visit that library sometime!

The worse part of living where I live is the libraries are all garbage. No peace, no quiet, not enough books, no place to read or study. I think they were all converted to after-school babysitting services here...lots of activities, no reading.

Old Kitty - have you read the book Dewey about the little kitten who was found in a library returns box? It's a lovely book but will make you cry! Anyways, he was a library cat and became so famous he ended up a Japanese TV star!
