Too much bling, beautiful buns and the rose

Now I may be 40 but I’d like to think that I’ve got enough style and sense and shoes to be looking as gorgeous as I can be! LOL!

But I did not deserve to be told that these glasses frames were the in thing for me. And worse that they suited me.

I have no idea what his job title is at the optician's but after my eyes were tested, I was given over to this young lad. His task was to walk around with me and help me choose my glasses frames.

To be fair he was probably fed up with me because I wanted to match my old frames exactly, the ones I broke last Saturday.

To be fair the above isn't the exact frames but the one he picked for me was near enough the same.

So gorgeous and sexy bloggie friends, if you want new frames, soft edges and steel frames are out. Chunky angled square thick and patterned frames - beads, jewellry and studs - are so 2010!

On the upside, look at my buns!

After my disastrous hot cross bun baking of the Easter weekend, I made them again sans crosses and they came out beautiful! Yay!

And lastly remember the rose bush I bought to commemorate my tough ol'girl and how this nice old lady snipped it down to stump?

Well, here's Charlie having a sniff around it next to the lavender.

No buds yet though!

Have a lovely Sunday everyone!

I had to get new glasses a few months ago because I lost mine. It took me forever to find some frames I could stand that I could still afford. Chunky does not suit me.

I hope you had better luck choosing yours.

Sunday in England! Still Saturday (9:15 p.m.) in Virginia USA. I loved "seeing" this post through your glasses. I love Charlie. So does my daughter Jen. She has always loved cats, but we rent and can't have pets. We have to visit my other three children to romp with cats and dogs. I'll try to take some pictures tomorrow to share with you on my blog when we go up to see my number 3 senior in High School granddaughter perform in Shakespeare, not sure which one. Will find out.

I also like to stay with the same style glasses Old Kitty. I like a nice light metal frame...they can keep the chunky jeweled ones..lol

Your hot buns look delicious!

Do real people wear glasses like those? I'd never have the nerve!

And gosh, haven't your buns risen well this time!

Have a lovely day. x

I'd be skipping the trendy frames that will be out of fashion next season or next year and going with what suits you best! (Yep, I'm ever-practical.)

As for the buns...They look delicious. My stomach is rumbling. Wish you could beam one or two over for a taste test. :-)

And oh, how lovely your roses will be! I'm looking forward to seeing pics of the buds and flowers.

P.S. Never did get around to that cup of tea....!

Love the glasses - and oh my, I LOVE THOSE BUNS! Can you send one to me, please? They look so yummy.

Hi and a giant pat to Charlie! Have a great Sunday.

Oh my those glasses frames are a little much. Don't think I could wear those either.
What a nice idea to get a special bush for the Ole kitty. Glad Charlie is having a conversation with it. You know they are talking about old kitty.
Hope you have a wonderful Sunday
Oh and thanks for mentioning me in your last blog. Much appreciated.

I don't think there will be too many ladies walking round in those frames will there.
Hope you and Charlie enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Your hot cross buns are beautiful! Hooray that they worked this time.

Masquerade glasses?! That pair makes those silly 1950s frames look ordinary. I had choosing frames. I have an old pair of oval wire ones and a new pair of red square ones.

What type did you get? Picture, please.

By the way, I went to a craft fair yesterday, and realized that feathers are back. They're on earrings, in clothes and headbands. I am not jumping on that trend either.

Dame Edna style is back?? Was it ever in? One of the good things about being older is that you can totally ignore 'fashion' if it doesn't suit you!

My mum bought me a mini-rose when Newton died, I've got mine in a pot and hope it will be happy, as I hope yours is. xx

Oh dear I'm not sure those would have suited anyone, except Dame Edna! Did you manage to resist giving him a slap...?

btw unisex section at Vision Express might be the best match for your old ones... my emergency help-I-can't-read-the-Waterloo-departure-boards glasses came from there and look a bit like that :)

Your hot cross buns look fantastic! What a great baker you are. Well done you!!!

The glasses do leave a lot to be desired. I believe in being fashionable, but I think those glasses are asking a bit too much. Having said that, I will probably have a pair similar to that in about 6-12 months...No Doubt. Hope you had a great weekend

I hate, Hate, HATE shopping for frames. I'm with you- I don't care what is 'in style' this year. I want frames that flatter my ever-rounding face.
Ah but the buns look lovely and the roses are coming up nicely. So all is not doom.
Have a great day.

Oh those buns look heavenly! I hate shopping for glasses and I think if anyone suggested those to me I would probably get arrested for my response! :)
