Nah, I'm sure it's all a big misunderstanding. This is the first time Amazon have let me down really! But they gots my moneys and I wants my book!

Also the lovely Bin from A desperate reluctant housewife blog sent me an incredibly powerful software to unlock my passworded doc. Thank you lovely Bin! It uses brute force and goes through all sorts of combinations of letters/numbers/big caps, small caps etc.

So far, it's failed. :-)

I must have been so crazy and so jealous of what I wrote to have passworded it so. LOL! I've already told this to hampshireflyer but at that time, three years ago, I did this because I didn't want my then bf to discover my tome.

And that ladies and gents says alot as to why I lived with my tough ol girl and am now living with Charlie.

'Scuse me, Charlie wants to say something....

Maybe you could take the computer to a computer shop and they might be able to open the file? :o) or even ring them, they might help over the phone.

Oh doesn't it just drive you crazy to see that date and not have your package! I am TERRIBLE about obsessively tracking a package until I see it is delivered at my door. But seriously - if you ordered it Feb 4 it should be there by now.

I think it is good that Charlie is watching for the package now - he will alert you right away I am sure.

I toohae had great luck with Amazon - hope your bookarrives. Sorry brute force did not unlock your password. Charlie is so sweet - a calming influence through all!

I was elated when I saw the part about the password software. Then deflated when it didn't work.

I'm glad you're not with that BF if you felt you needed to protect your writing.

E-mail me your postal address. I'll order Karen's book and send it to you. Just cancel with Amazon. Charlie will get the order faster if I ship it.

I order from Amazon.ca quite a bit and there's been a number of times that a book has been delayed (difficulty getting it from the publisher, whatever). I don't think I've ever NOT received what I've ordered, though, even if it took longer than anticipated. Usually they send an automated message asking if you want to cancel your order or wait.

Sorry to read the software you received hasn't done the trick. I can only imagine how frustrating it must be!

What did Charlie spy, by the way? :-)

Hope your book gets there soon. That is terrible that it is taking so long. Charlie is looking good. What a good boy waiting for the postman. He is one smart kitty.

OH goodness we are sorry that the password software did not work...yet. Maybe still??? WE hope so although the idea of taking it to someone to get it opened might be a good one.

These days I asked things are NOT sent "Signed for" You'd think this woudl make them safer but not for me... I've had several lately where Ive been in all day but then spot a scrawled card stuck through the letter box saying they couldn't deliver. So I have asked for redirection but it hasn't arrived, and then they've said it's lost, and then if you persist they say it's found but then they don't deliver it again cause they say you're out even though you're in again, and then you ring and find it is not in the sorting office and then.......well you get the picture

But Kitty I hope your book arrives soon!!!

Depending on the length of the password the Brute can take quite a few days to find the combination.
Be patient, those programs are very good. They just has to go through a lot of combinations.

Oh dear! Is it coming from proper Amazon or a marketplace seller? Some of them can take their own sweet time if they're shipping from the US... (and the UK carrier for USPS is hideous Parcelforce - ugh!)

Hope it turns up soon! Have a good moan at them if they don't though, you might get some money off....

I really feel bad about this situation. Are you determined to wait for Amazon? Because I will gladly send you an autographed copy. I sent a copy to Germany for $20, $10 for the book & $10 for postage. Don't know how that compares to Amazon UK price, but at least you would have your copy!
