Bespoke

These are cakes. Yep, real bona fide cakes.

I didn't make them, Rachel Mount: Cake Artist did.

I don't know who she is but by golly these are amazing cakes.

Now I love baking. And one thing I've learnt about baking is that it's all trial and error and practice making perfect and sometimes it's being creative and taking risks and taking chances and using your instinct with a recipe.

It's one of the most creative skills that I've made myself learn and one that I actually enjoy.

But like creative writing, I know there are a million others better at this than me. Unlike creative writing, I wave the metaphorical white flag to baking artists like Ms Mount.

Yes these are cake shoes.

And I think the going rate is £300 per slice or something like that! And she does business by appointment only.

Charlie says these shoes taste of leather.

Have a lovely Tuesday everyone!

I have this brilliant older sister who had looks, money, everything and when she and her husband came back after ten years in Europe she told me, "There's always someone with more money, better-looking and more accomplished than me, so I never compare. I just don't worry about all that." I thought that was brilliant. It's true, there always will be someone better in every way so why worry?

I bet Charlie's right! Hard to believe those shoes are cake! The purses were believable but the shoes? Not so much!

Those cakes are amazing! A few years ago I took a cake decorating class so now I know the basics, but that's about it. I wanted to get good at it, but that requires practice which requires time which isn't something I'm willing to devote to one more hobby. With a price tag like that, though, maybe I should have stuck with it! :)

It amazes me that people can make cakes like that!
We have Ace of Cakes on the Food Network (+ they wrote a book) and their cakes look real too. They're artists.

I'm a terrible baker. : (

The shoe cakes look remarkable! They don't look like much cake for the money though -- I think I'd rather have a purse cake that I could sink my teeth into!

I love to bake but my ever expanding waistline is troublesome to me so I've been trying not to eat as many sweets.or carbs...it's very hard!

Oh my gosh those are amazing cakes. But to me beautiful cakes like that are things I could never eat - I would feel to guilty. I would rather have the cake that is less beautiful but more tasty. That way I can actually enjoy it more.

Charlie is such a cutie - he looks very cute against the black shoes because they make him stand out nicely!

OMG those cake purses and shoes!!!!!!!!

I don't think I would eat them because they are too pretty to eat :).

Charlie is so adorable. :)

They look good but do they taste good? I would rather have a not so perfect looking cake that tasted heavenly then to eat a fancy pair of shoe cakes that didn't quite cut it in the tase dept. How much is 300 pounds in U.S dollars? Thanks for sharing that.

Those cakes look stunning. True masterpieces wow! :o)

It would be VERY hard to eat them, they're so amazing. And at those prices, you'd really have to eat them, otherwise you'd be wasting your money. I wonder if the cake itself is as good as all the icing!

I'm an adequate baker, fine to follow a relatively simple recipe. Can't decorate a cake to save my soul. I really try not to do much baking anymore, though, because I have such a terrible sweet tooth, I'll eat it all up.

Gee, I could go for a piece of cake for breakfast now....LOL!

That is pretty darn amazing. Do they make cakes that look like cats? Boy, that could really stir up some trouble. Howdy Charlie, I like your selection too!

I suppose it says something about my personality that I'd rather go to cakewrecks.com and laugh at bad cakes than see amazing cakes that don't look like cakes.

Gorgeous though!

Wow it's amazing to know those are cakes! Those cake artists are amazing I love watching how much detail goes into the piece, it truly is artwork that you can eat! I mean how is that not your favorite kind of art!!!

Are you kidding, those shoes are cake? If they are, they look Yummy. Charlie needs to have one of those. Wouldn't it be fun to be able to do that. I can barely do a two layer cake much less design some fancy shaped cake. We just like to eat those cakes.

Lovely shoe and bag cakes - she's very talented. Still prefer the picture of Charlie with proper shoes.

You know I've often wondered if you purchased something like that, how in the world you feel comfortable eating it. First the enormity of the cost and then the beauty of the object. I watch the "cake" shows on US TV and am amazed at what they can concoct!

Hi Charlie!

Cake shoes....now there I draw the line!!! No really what an artist. That is one talented baker.

As KarenG said there is always someone more of everything. But then there is always someone less.

300GBP for a slice of the shoe. I know it is art, but I would prefer to wear the 300GBP then eat a slice of it. Just me!
