Angst-free zone

My penultimate writing assignment for my course is "research and writing for a commercial market".

Which suits me fine as I've got an excuse to raid the newsagent's and buy armfuls of weekly women's mags!

All in the name of research of course!!

Oh and if there's a feature or two on fashion for "women my age", then who am I to quibble?

Florals are so in apparently as well as er.. "nude" colours. :-)

Anyway! I'm discovering that writing the type of fiction printed in these mags is harder than it looks!

I can write angst very easily but am I capable of writing with a light touch complete with a realistic feel?

This cat has no problems with such a dilemma!

No chance of writer's block here.

LOL!

Charlie says: call the fashion police! These don't look like florals to me!

Have a wonderful Saturday, beautiful bloggie friends!

I am not a floral or "nude" wearing person...they both look horrible on me. I need deep dark colors to go with my complexion.

I think you write very well and will do a good job at an entertaining fiction piece. Sometimes the best stories come from real life. Perhaps you can incorporate something about blogging into it?

Funny cat video! He types better than I do!

Interesting assignment. I have read so many of these kinds of articles, and they do all sound similar in tone and voice. I remember years ago when I had no time for a long project I thought about trying my hand at this kind of journalistic writing. Then I decided, uh..no..it's just not my niche.

That cat video is adorable - you always have the best videos! The cat in that actually looks just like my cat, and she rolls around and stretches out like that, too (maybe all cats do?)

Happy Saturday to you, too!

It's funny how things always look so much easier until you try to do them!!...Good luck with the writing assignment, at least you will have lots of fun researching it...Cute video with the kitty writer!!(we've never tried actually typing, we just occasionally walk across Mom's keyboard because we can!!)...Kisses to Charlie; hope you both have a happy weekend...xo...Calle, Halle, Sukki

I love your blog you crack me up. That cat is pretty darned smart. I don't think I can keep up.
You know it's bad when the cat is writing "block free" mind you.
I've got a post about a furry enemy I think you might get a weekend chuckle over.

Hello Old Kitty! I love cats too, they're so cute and inquisitive. I'm sure you can do it if you put your mind to it... ;)

Kitty, I agree with you, its not that easy to write the lighter stuff but some of your wonderful blogposts could be adapted.

Good luck with the assignment!

Florals, huh? I'll stick with solid dark colours--on the lower half, at any rate! :-)

Cute typing kitty; I think the cat does better at the keyboard than I do. (Almost!)

Have a lovely weekend.

Glad you got some "research" done.

Nude isn't great on me either. And I also steer clear of military and polka dots. But a floral that isn't frumpy is okay.

I never thought about what it would be to write for a magazine. Not too much angst (usually) when it comes to fashion. Allure magazine in the states usually has an article to do with fashion and angst. Do you have that magazine?

We think you are a great writer. You seem to be able to make anything into a great subject.
We like to try to type on Mom's computer too but we are not allowed to do that. Don't know why not.
Give Charlie a huge hug for us if he will let you.
Have a great week end.

Good luck with your writing project - bet you'll do a great piece.
Love the video - perhaps that cat will type your work up for you when you've finished it.

Florals? Nude colors? How about we all go naked with an orchid behind our ear. On a tropical island. With a gorgeous towel boy. Yeah....that's the story right there!

Angst is easier for a lot of people to write.. I don't know why... but it's not most people's favourite thing to read.

Strange and possibly unfair, but there ya go.

I don't think I have a single thing in my closet with flowers on it. Hmm.. I probably need some though.

Happy weekend Old Kitty and Charlie!

I love women's mags. The trashier the better. I should be ashamed, I guess, but I'm not! Heat, Look, Grazia... all good.

Florals AGAIN? Weren't they in last year?

I thought I saw something in the Guardian about how florals were just going out again! I can't keep up with this stuff :)

The one and only time my cat touched the keyboard she detached a key. We now keep the computer in a desk that closes.

That kitty types better than most people! I tend to keep the fashion simple - and easy to care for!

I love the nude colours that are "in" right now, but I wish to heaven that skin tight plastic looking leggings were out!

Sounds like a fun assignment.

That cat was a pretty good typist. Very enthusiastic about what he or she was typing, too! :)
