Six Degrees

The lovely Amy from Love Meow mentioned in her recent comment how when she was five her father saved her from drowning.

I’m still going “wow” about this because when I was five, my father saved me from drowning.

Amy jumped into a swimming pool and discovered she couldn’t swim.

I played too close to the incoming tide when on a beach holiday with my family. I found I couldn’t swim either.

Both our fathers saved our lives. Amy remembers being pulled from the waters by her dad. I remember my dad scooping me up as I sunk below the sea.

I feel all “Six degrees of separation” suddenly!

Kind of the same feeling I got when I discovered that the glamorous Ann is a fellow shoe-fetishist and a Cancerian to boot!

Will the coincidences never end?!?!?!?! I hope not!

Anyway, here is a really sweet animation that the ever so talented Kate M created as a celebration of her and her beloved’s first anniversary. It’s only like 10 seconds but it spoke to the romantic in me!

Anniversary Present from kate m on Vimeo.

Being a die-hard sop of all things fluffy and flowery, I always believe that there is a Special Someone for each one of us out there. Being a bit dreamy, I always think that you will know that this Special Someone is the One. There is a great quote from Frasier; “We do not choose love, it chooses us”.

I like that. Now all I have to do is find out Daniel Craig's phone number...

:-)

Happy Saturday!

Thanks for sharing your story. My aunt once had to jump into a pool fully clothed to pull me out, and I once had to do the same thing with my daughter.

I just started watching Munich on the treadmill yesterday and was surprised to see Daniel Craig in it. You might want to check that one out. :)

I jumped in a swimming pool when I was five. (What is it about 5 year olds?). My dad was elsewhere in Sydney at the time, so a neighbouring boy saved me. I am sorry to say I have forgotten his name. but I still remember his face!

I'm still in the "wow" phase after reading that. No one had to save me from drowning, but I did have to jump into a river and save our dog from drowning once--leash got caught on partially submerged posts from an old dock and she got caught around it, was going under. My fault, because I egged her on to jump into the river in the first place, to chase the "birdies." Never did that again, of course!

That animation is lovely, truly. I really don't believe there is that someone special for everyone, though. Or, perhaps I should say that whether you find the right person for you is contingent upon your baggage, how self-aware you are, etc., etc.

Yet, there still is a tiny part of a little girl's heart inside that wants to believe! The rest of me is layered over in cynicism, however.

What an amazing coincidence. It's nice to find people in the world with whom you have much in common. That's what's wonderful about the world wide web (and why it's called the world wide web) - because we find all of these connections.

How scary to sink in the sea when you were so little. No wonder you don't swim.

That's a sweet first anniversary animation. My husband and I don't even exchange cards (He's anti-card).

I hope you find your Daniel Craig.

And I found the recipe that tastes like Hobnobs so I can now make them at home instead of paying $6 a box! It's that Agression Cookie recipe I posted on my blog, believe it or not! But they're pretty high in calories so I have to be careful!

Old Kitty, I keep cards too.

Wow, thanks for sharing my video.

My mom spotted a pre-Bond Daniel Craig in Waterstones once. She said that in person he had "stunning eyes".
