My tough ol girl is home

She's home! Finally. My tough ol girl!

Unfortunately, I got the biggest hint yet from the nice vet Rachael that maybe, perhaps, if I think about it properly, perhaps, maybe, it's time to call Time. The Cat's lymphoma has reawakend and is now lodged in her brain.

Problem is I can't think straight or calmly. I'm too involved and it hurts too much. I've been down this road four times in my lifetime but each one never gets any easier.

For now The Cat is sprawled sausage like on her favourite spot.

Thank you all for your sweet comments and thank you Amy and the House of Cats for keeping her in your thoughts in your blog.

Oh I'm so glad she's back and sleeping comfortably! I feel for your dilemma however, we went through that with our dog Lugosi, an awesomely amazing Doberman. Then one day my son came over and observed Lugosi being emotionally miserable (his problems became mental more than physical, because Dobie's brains keep growing and can cause problems as they age, cuz they're so dang smart!) And my son said, "Mom you're not doing him any favors. He's miserable and getting worse, so be a good pet owner and put him out of his misery." So we did, and omigosh it was so hard.

Oh that is such sad news to hear. I know when we found out about Floyd's lymphoma spreading it was just heartbreaking for us. We are sending you lots and lots of purrs and prayers - we know you must be haveing such a tough time right now.

awwwww I am crying for the Cat. It reminds me of my first kitty Snowman. It was so difficult for me that I did not want to go home after my parents called me and told me what happened. One thing I know is that he was an angel that God sent to help my family when we were going through hard times. He left us when everything was fine again. It was almost like he finished his job and it was time for him to go. My parents and I miss him, but we know he is over the rainbow bridge now playing happily with other kitties. and he no longer has pain.

Oh, no... :-(

I don't even know what to write.

Well, I will say this: Someone who used to be on one my cat groups, a UK breeder actually, always said that when the bad days outnumber the good, it's time. And she also would say better a day too soon than a day too late.

*Sigh*

Because I lost Chumley so quickly, I've never been faced with this decision. All I can urge is that you do not let her suffer, if she is in pain.

Wishing you universal Blessings and Peace--both of you--and I'm lighting a candle for you both at gratefulness.org.

Oh we are so sorry that you didn't get good news. I know just how you feel. I had to put my old cat Squeaky to the bridge right before Christmas and it was horrible. But you have to think about her quality of life and if she is eating, I wouldn't rush into anything. You will be able to tell when she is ready to go. I could tell by Squeaky's eyes that she was tired. Thinking about you and hopeing for the best. Lots of purrs.

She looks sweet all curled up.

I'm sorry for your bad news. When the time comes, reach out as soon as possible so we can send some serious support.

We are sorry that the vet couldn't give you any good news. It is good she is back home in her familiar surroundings. Fill her days with love and when it is her time, she will let you know. It is desperately sad when you know the one you love will not be with you for much longer, but treasure your memories. You will always have them and they will help you through your sadness. We send purrs and hugs.

Oh this is so sad. I hope she is not suffering - she cannot know.

Bless her heart. We know she is happy to be back home with you. You and your kitty are in our thoughts during this very difficult time. We went through a similar situation last year this time. Just wanted you to know you are not alone in this, which is obvious by all the caring comments.

I am so sorry you did not get good news about Cat, but I'm glad she's home and resting comfortably...I went through this with my Nikki, but the afternoon I took her to the vet to be put down, she jumped on my bed and had energy for the first time in weeks and I just couldn't do it; she passed away in my arms 9 days later at home...Only you know what Cat needs you to do; watch her and listen to your heart...You love her and will do the best you can for her and she trusts that...As long as she is not in pain, I hope she stays with you...I will keep you in my prayers.

I started crying when I read this! I've got both my dogs tucked in around me, and I couldn't help but think of facing the same situation one day.
Like others have mentioned, fill her days with love and comfort, and if/when it's time to make the decision, yuo'll know.

I'm so sorry :o( You'll do what's right for you and Cat. A couple of years ago I had to get my elderly cat put down. She was in so much pain. I kept hoping she would get better, but she didn't. She is now buried in the garden with a special rose planted on top. Take care XX

I'm glad to hear she's home, but so sad to hear that the vet's not too optimistic. I think one of the hardest things a pet owner ever has to do is to make this decision, but I know you love your girl and you'll do the right thing for her. Like Theresa said, reach out and let us know, so we can be there to support you.

It is hard babe. I know. My wife and I are in Cats Protection and we've had to make hard calls on so many cats. We always look at it as 'have they got a quality of life?' If they have fine. If clearly they are suffering we help. It's all you can do babe. Just help

Hi Kim

True, true words! Thank you for sharing them with me. I'm on the lookout for signs that my old girl's had enough - so far she's not done anything that has made me decide it really is Time... the silly creature!!

Awwww your lovely Chumley - I loved his pics on your blog yesterday - so floofy! So lovely.

I'm thankful she is at home where she belongs. I understand your grief and not wanting to make a difficult decision. Perhaps it would help to make a list of known favorite things she enjoyed, and see if she still enjoys them...then you'll have a good answer about quality of life. I hope that helps...I'm purring for you both.
