The Muse

Charlie tries to find my writing muse.

I'm having to drag her out kicking and screaming into the open once more.

You see she's very shy and very insecure and very uncertain of her abilities. She only knows her weaknesses and never her strengths. She always tries to seek validation and isn't happy with a few nice words of encouragement.

My muse is rather needy. Unfortunately she is also rather hungry - not for chocolate, the mad creature - but for something else less tangible. She is a muse after all and they tend to be flighty and vain and rather selfish demi-goddesses.

But her heart is in the right place. She just needs a little coaxing rather than me wanting to force her out before she's ready.

Which of course makes her a gigantic pain in my nether regions. But please don't tell her that or else she'll sulk and no amount of cake will coax her out.

At least she's more amenable to Charlie's charms.

Who wouldn't be? :-)

Have a lovely Tuesday everyone!

LOL to that first picture!

Well, I've found, in my creative endeavours, that when I step back and do something else, ideas usually will kick in. In other words, when my attention is not on producing something (in your case, your novel).

However, I've also heard it said many a time with regard to writing that the trick is to just sit down and write, regardless of whether or not it's drivel.

Just. Write.

The act of writing might stir your Muse, even if it takes a while to get what you want.

Write anything.

You know, my ex wanted to be a writer. He took creative writing courses and was quite adept technically. (Sentence construction, grammar, etc.) But he spent more time telling people that he was a writer than he did writing. (I'm NOT comparing him to you--lol!) I used to tell him that if he were as passionate about writing as he claimed, he'd be doing it, not talking about it.

So write, Old Kitty. Not your novel, just anything at all. A journal entry. A poem. Something. Anything. No matter if you don't like it.

Or, you could bake another cake. Or take more pics of Charlie. Or do something else completely different to give your mind a break. :-)

Honestly? I don't know what to suggest. My own creative muse departed some years ago and I haven't seen her since! Maybe I didn't bake her enough cakes.

Hope you could get back what you have lost... You could get help from the professional to regain your password so that you don't have to start all over again... I could understand how difficult it is...

It is easy to say but it is hard to do...

Wish you luck... :)

* Kea... what you wrote about your ex, just like my hubby! He keeps telling he's an artist more than he sits down to do his painting :D

Kim's words of wisdom are the best!...Like everything else in life, your muse will reveal herself when she is supposed to=it's all about timing/acceptance!(Sometimes, when you walk away, accept things as they are/do other things, you are inspired, have an epiphany...)...Good luck!...Jacqueline
We have so much fun in our tunnel!..Charlie, we love your photos=your fluffy furs are so awesome and we think you are a real handsome boy!...xo...Calle, Halle, Sukki

She is a beautiful Goddess. She sounds like my girls. I think the female cats are more snoodie than male cats are. Anyway, she is just Lovely.

If I were your muse, I would definitely come out for a piece of that delicious cake.

If anyone can find your muse, I'm sure Charlie can! I find that the best ideas come to me when I take a walk and just let my mind think about whatever I'm working on. Then I can go home and pull out the laptop and get working!

Well said. I think your muse should be more than pleased with this blogging oration in her honor!
Charlie sure looks satisfied.
I'm sure you will be brilliant!

You might need to take a walk...If I'm struggling, I grab my tiny tape recorder and Macy and head out for a walk.

Hi dear Kitty, it has been awhile since my computer got a bad bug and I've missed you. I'm back up and running and will be visiting you often.
Nothing feels as comfortable as fingers poised above a keyboard. Just let it flow.

Who wouldn't be amenable to Charlie's charms?!

Your muse is different from Roxy's Daniel Craig or Stephen King's burly guy. I'm still pretty sure my muse is my cat. Maybe I'm doing this wrong...

I'm glad you're back to writing - reluctant muse or not.

WE think Charlie will find that elusive muse and bring her out to her fullest potential! What muse could resist such soft purrs and gorgeous fluff?

If anyone can find the muse Charilie can!

Give her a bit of cake and I am sure she will be putty in your hands.

We think Charlie is the perfect temptation for the muse - who could resist his cute face!

I wish I had a muse to even coax out - I have ideas but no idea what to do with them!

Love the first photo!

Your muse will surface. She's there all the time, just waiting... P'haps some cake will help?

Well I hope you can find your muse. It looks like Charlie is being a huge help. So maybe he will drag it out from somewhere. I too find I can figure out something to write about by going for a walk or a drive to let my little tiny brain go into a different gear. Have a great day.

So your muse is hiding down a... toy aircraft hangar? What *is* that thing he's inside? :)

Hey, thanks for letting us know about your problem with JFF and your IE browser. We found the same problem with our IE (which we don't use). We found where others who installed the new Blogger in Draft template are having the same or similar problems. It's a flaw in the code and since BinD has been told about it by a number of folks, we hope they will resolve it soon. We just wasted another day trying to figure out if it was something we did. It wasn't. When you visit blogs using blogger with IE, you can tell who has the new template by the little yellow triangle in the lower left of your browser. Double click on it and it will tell you there's a problem loading it. Great!

aww Kitty, I thought you would jump at the chance to do the blog A-Z challenge hehe

Perfect analogy. Cats are exactly like the writer's muse. Stubborn as all hell. Never around when you need it. But soothing perfection at the most unexpected times.
