Phone etiquette

There I was at work having a toilet break, sat on the loo in the little cubicle.

When the phone rings.

And it's coming from next door's cubicle.

I'm sitting there thinking, "No Way is that lady going to answer. Not while she's indisposed. No way."

And what does she do?

But that's not the end of it.

Being ever so mindful of my p's and q's, what do I do?

I WAIT for the woman on the phone in the next cubicle to finish her conversation before I flush the loo.

Oh yes. I was brought up proper, I was. :-)

And the conversation?

It was all about where to meet up and how to get there.

There really is a time and place for everything.

Charlie says: Me? I have no shame!

Have a simply divine Tuesday everyone!

That was good of you. :)

This is typical in America.

I've heard phone conversations go on in toilet stalls as well. I bet the person on the other line has no idea.

And I know two people who. dropped. their. phones. in. the. toilet.

Lastly, I heard a radio comedy show discuss this (called, Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me). A woman said she heard a person in the next stall talking about her going to the bathroom/digestive issues on the phone!

We're crass here. It's mortifying.

That is the absolute worse. Yuck. Gross. But Charlie is cute. I love when cats lay around like that...they look so happy and peaceful.

She answered her cell phone while in the cubicle? Oh, that's just...that's just...I don't know, I can't even think of the words. Crass? Rude? Inconsiderate? Disgusting? Ill-bred? Ill-mannered?

I think I'd have flushed several times were I you! Ha!

Love Charlie's pose--he's doing his inner thigh exercises. :-)

This is just another reason that I am not a fan of cell phones. I don't want to hear other peoples converstations in the bathroom, in the middle of the store, it just gets on my nerves. I can't believe that people do that now - if I was on the phone with a person and found out they were in the bathroom I would not talk to them again without first asking if they were in the bathroom. If they said yes I would just hang up.

And Charlie is allowed to have no shame - he is a cat.

How funny; people really do inappropriate things sometimes and it was nice of you to be mindful of her bad manners!...What a nice lady you are to wait to flush!!...We LOVE Charlie's photo; he's a sexy boy!!MOL...What a way to start the week!!WOOOHOOO!...xo...Calle, Halle, Sukki

Get this--there's a term for that--a "Stall Call"!!!! Check it out, it's in the Urban Dictionary.
We cats are more direct...we just sniff whatever we need to know.

I hate that. And if I'm talking to someone and I suspect they're in the *loo* then I tell them to call me later and I hang up. I really don't even want to talk to anyone who is doing their business or anywhere in the vicinity of it. And I sure don't want to listen to it from the other stall! But yes, you are very polite. And what is that book? It looks like something I'd like to read.

There IS a time and a place for everything. Sometimes I get weary of the very thing you're talking about here. I especially cringe when I see people talking on cell phones while driving. I find myself longing for the "good old days" when the phone dangled from a cord that was affixed to the living room wall!!

Be mindful of others. Be courteous. Not just phone etiquette. LIFE etiquette.

LOL you crack me up!!! I have one woman at work who is notorious of doing this! I've gotten to the point where I am no longer polite I flush and walk out, if you don't have the decency to give me privacy they have a right to know that while your in disposed you're talking to them.

Oh, Charlie looks comfy! I'm sure he wouldn't answer the phone while in the loo (love that word!)

Oh, Kitty--first I gotta apologize for my human, Tommy--you come my blog and her blog (boring!) and we've not returned the favor. Tommy hogs the PC with all this school work...UGH. We will try better!

Now the lady in the loo...Tommy laughed. That happens ALL the time at her job. Some of these girls are talking to doctors for their kids, or why they haven't paid some bills--and loos are flushing...the door outside isn't that FAR...Yea, life ended with the the cell phone was invented...

Charlie is cute!
Thanks very much Old Kitty. Appreciate your sincere wish and prayers for me. God must have heard both you and me. I shut down everything; took a break and played with the kitties to destress; reversed the car and parked it properly; sat down and started the computer again.
I don't know what I clicked this time and it all came back.
Thanks again Old Kitty. Hugs!

Sorry, I think Kea was on the right track, but flush everyone of them! Some things can wait, the phone is one of those, unless it's someone calling for an interview or something! Morning Charlie!

I could never answer the phone in the toilet! Ick! And I'd not appreciate someone at the other end of you flushing... nice of you not to give her away, if the other person didn't know she was in the loo. :)

Matthew MacNish said...

Wonderful story, very polite of you. I don't answer the phone in the bathroom because of the way it sounds on the other end of the line.

You can always tell when someone is in a bathroom.

Hahahhahahahah!

Charlie is so funny!! No shame lives on!! I love it when cats "expose" themselves!

I have to say, you are a very polite person to "flush" after!

Happy Tuesday too!

Arent people nuts? I also hate the supermarket one 'Where are you?', 'I'm over by the cornflakes'. Can they not just use their eyes, maddening.

Ann said...

OMG!!! First of all how wrong was that! Answering the phone in the loo. Second, aren't you the very considerate lady. Why do people believe they must be reachable at all times.

What is wrong with people. Turn off your mobile phones before entering the loo, cinema, theatre, car even.

i would have flushed immediately, just to let the other know the bozo was taking a call in the can! lol

and here i thought my son was the only one to do that :(

Talli Roland said...

Oh dear Lord. Honestly, there's no end to when and where people will take mobile calls! You *were* brought up proper, clearly!

That is hysterical. Glad you were polite and all. Too funny.

O.K.,
You are so polite! I'm impressed at your restraint. I think cellphones have made people even more rude in public as they seem to forget that they are in a public place using a public facility.

On the other hand, Charlie looks so sweet. Give him a hug from me! :)

Oh no! Doesn't any one have any sense of privacy or manners anymore? You certainly do, Old Kitty ..good for you!

Love Charlie's pose ...it looks comfortable!
