Name calling

Dear Bloggie friends - my name has changed.

I am now known as Benita, formerly Old Kitty.

I am kidding of course! My lovely tutor of my soon to be concluded writing course has given his assessment of my biography piece but in it he kept referring to me as Benita.

Which isn’t my name.

A few frantic emails later where I desperately tried to contact Benita thinking I had her assessment by mistake while simultaneously trying to contact my tutor thinking he had mixed up our assessments - and all was cleared up.

Which didn’t change my overall marks unfortunately – darn it!! LOL!

But which made me think about how unusual some names are. Benita is definitely unusual. Well it is for me.

My real name is Jennifer. Maybe if I spelt it with a G it’ll be more interesting but ever so wrong!

Anyway, that was my excitement for the day. I needed a lie down after that.

Charlie says: I call you human who gives me a toy that I have no interest in whatsoever!

Have a sunny Monday everyone!

Jennifer--Funny story! I posted about using real names on my blog roll today...

We have a big basket of cat toys that never get played with. :) Santa Claus continues to buy cat toys, because Macy does play with toys and it just wouldn't be fair for only Macy to get presents...

Thanks for all your cheerful notes...they really helped me this week. :)

Names are funny...I have at least three nicknames used by my parents, husband & stepkids...the only people who call me by my "real" name are the folks at work!
The Cats refer to me as "can-opener", I'm sure.

Whatever your name is ... we love you! :)

OK, I am officially in love with Charlie! Seriously!

Benita? huh? Hummmmm... Perhaps there is a Benita living inside you and he just senses it.

So nice to know your real name! Now we just need a face to go with it lol.

Benita, I'm sure your marks were just fine.

Charlie! We love your response, as usual!

Benita sounds like Bonito, fish or Barney's girlfriend!

I love Jenn, with a G or J - just as much!

Lucky is much better now, thanks! Been a busy, crazy weekend!

I think Jennifer is a pretty name, whether spelled with a "g" or not.

That's so funny, Benita! (hehe)

Yes, an editor of a magazine recently sent me emails referring to me as Georgeina. My real name is Jill and I just didn't see how she could have got this mixed up. But I paid for it cos when I sent her the article she asked for, it went in her spam box as she was looking for a piece from blo*dy Gorgeina!

So Benito just as well you got that sorted!

I suppose Benita would be a half-rhyme for Jennifer. There must be a poem in there somewhere ...

It's nice to have a real name, Jennifer, and I'm not apt to forget it, as my dearest friend's name also is Jennifer. :-)

But if you want a change, we can all call you Benita!

I hope you're satisfied with your overall mark!!!

My cats call me "you" and "slave" and "can opener." LOL.

Hello Charlie and Benita aka Jennifer. I think you should make sure you don't get your name changed as well Charlie - we would hate you to miss out on any treats because you didn't think they were for you and didn't go and get them!!

Benita, Gennifer, Jennifer, Old Kitty... whoever you are, I like you! :)

I once had a prof who returned my paper to me covered with a giant wine stain. Not much faith in his marking ability!

Your real name is Jennifer!! That is my daughter Jen's name too. She was about in six grade when she started into her "new" personality.

Thanks for commenting on my post - and calling me the youngest grandma on the planet. Doubt that, but I'm trying!!!

And Benita has a definite ring to it. My first name, BTW, is Rita (Rita Ann Best). So there you are.

lol... my dad's sis was benita, so not strange to me :P

as for your moniker: when writing about critters, how about: GENIFUR? ;)

charlie: y're so funny :)

Maybe he reminded you of a Benita. Jennifer no matter how it's spelled is lovely. I've never been able to call you "Old Kitty," so I dubbed you "Miss Kitty" which was a character from a long running western I loved to watch growing up.

Jennifer is such a cute name,Jennifer!!
We love your name!!!
Names are always interesting.
In Japan, most of us have names in Kanji. And Kanji has lots of meanings.
My name are made of 2 Kanji characters representing beauty and emotion. I like it!

I think it's better to make toys - Archie's favourites (may have said this before, if so apologies - I'm losing brain cells fast at my age) are balls scrunched up out of silver paper (he actually plays fetch with these and will bring them back to us for another throw) and the plastic strips cut off the top of packets of tortillas - no idea why but he loves carrying them around so much!
There's nothing like a cat for perfecting that slightly disdainful stare they reserve for objects you've specially chosen for them. xx

Your name is Jennifer! There are some blogging buddies whose names I don't know, it's always interesting to put a name with the blogger.

I have a woman in my bible study group (of which I'm the leader). We've been together for nine months now, we speak on the phone or email weekly, I feel like I really know her well and I just adore her, but she always calls me Sally! It just cracks me up. I corrected her the first time, but it didn't seem to help. Now I just go with it. :)

Jan has often been called Janet, which isn't her name, but at least it's closer than Benita is to Jennifer.

We stopped by Tivi's and the voting button is there for us. We couldn't test it because we've already voted. Perhaps there was a problem at the site when you were there?

How funny! Hope the lie down helped.

Hello Jennifer! So I get to meet your name! So nice to know! A happy Monday to you, too! :)

It's funny so many times people want to call me Brenda -- perhaps it's because I have red hair, but more than one person has referred to me that way. Only thing is that is not my name. Not even close...

Hi handsome Charlie!

Old Kitty/Benita/Jennifer,
They're all so different!
What a funny mix-up.
Charlie is at least in the same vicinity as the new toy so maybe there is a getting-to-know-you thing going on.

Jennifer is a great name; my best friend from childhood is named Jennifer/Jenn=you need to post a photo to go with the name!...Hope your assignment went well...Kisses to handsome Charlie...xo...Calle, Halle, Sukki

Angie Paxton said...

Bummer that the mixup didn't result in a higher grade, but how did it feel to be a Benita for a little while. I'm so glad to know your real name. I'm like one of the other posters on here. You seem much to young to have the moniker Old Kitty and I always had a hard time thinking of you as such. Jennifer works much better.

I actually knew a girl named Benita in school. Other than the name I can't remember a thing about her! I also have known quite a few Jennifers - and I can remember things about all of them! So the name isn't important it is the person. I learned this when I was in school and was NEVER the only Amy in my class (and believe me there were more Amys then Jennifers at that time apparently).

Charlie is so cute with his toy - we haven't set ours up yet but I hope it is popular. They love something one day then never touch it again with probably at least 75% of the stuff I bring home for them!

Hi there Old Kitty, er, Benita, I mean, Belinda. Wait! Jennifer! phew! Did I get it right? ;)
Funny that two people call you by names that start with a "B". Perhpas that's what you vibrate. Perhaps you were a Benita or a Belinda in another life ;)
