Kindness of strangers

The workings of the human heart are the profoundest mystery of the universe. One moment they make us despair of our kind, and the next we see in them the reflection of the divine image

[Charles W. Chestnut (1858-1899) ]

Lovely bloggie friends - thank you for your kindness after yesterday's post.

Just to say I don't personally know Bin. I met her here in blog world and she was kind enough to help me with my passworded doc that I couldn't open.

I'm sure you've all seen her latest post. I, like you, await further news.

I am feeling more optimistic for Bin and that poor cat than I did this time yesterday though. I didn't think my heart could break any further.

And yesterday, I was supposed to have written my story for my latest assignment. The one that I bought all those women's mags for. The story I wanted to write was supposed to be lighthearted and optimistic with a realistic feel and one that could be read in a weekly women's mag.

But given yesterday's heartbreak I found it very difficult to create such an environment.

I was more likely to write a vampire story or something horrific!

So I guess being able to turn off one's current emotions to write to satisfy a commercial writing market is something I am yet to acquire!

Anyway, if I hear any further news from Bin (I've emailed her too, poor woman!) I'll let you know.

Thank you once again for being supportive and kind and as outraged!

The blogging world ROCKS!

It's hard to write upbeat when you're feeling down. Knowing you, you could write a much longer, wonderful piece on that cat.

That's why I shy away from those writing classes. I'm sure I'd write a lot but having a narrow focus seems stifling. I had a course like that in college, which I enjoyed, but I wanted more choice about what I write. Maybe I'm not creative enough for creative writing!

I'm glad you're feeling a bit better today.

Glad to hear you are feeling more optimistic today. My very best to Bin. Looking forward to any updates. I am sure a vampire story would work just fine. We need to tap into all our emotions and use them. Good luck with the assignment.

I've been Praying for Bin & Kitty. At this point that's all I can do, besides lend moral support. Thanks for spreading the word, together we can make difference for Cats, one by one.

I can see why you couldn't write yesterday. Don't be hard on yourself. Snuggle with Charlie and you'll feel TONS better.

I'm hoping that poor kitty can be helped and that he will be adopted by Bin. So sad.

I missed your post yesterday. How horrible. They say that many psychopathic serial killers get their start by abusing animals, torturing then killing them. Maybe this was what happened here and the cat got away. It is so terrible. Poor little kitty.

Love the quote in your post.
Unfortunately, the bad stories are the ones we always hear about, the nice ones dont make the news. Wishing the little cat well.

Hi... hope you could manage to write up your story and complete your assignment :)

* We believe you can do it! *

I'm afriad I couldn't bear to look at the story you wrote about, because I just can't handle that kind of sadness these days, but I'm so glad that you've discovered the warm fuzzies of strangers!

As someone new to your blog, I do so enjoy reading your posts, and I'm glad you're feeling better!

I left a comment on her original post about the poor cat, then another on her short note yesterday. I don't know what her financial situation is like, but certainly there are people who are willing to help out with vet costs, even if by donating only a few dollars. If she needs to go that route, enlisting the help of the CB would be good.

I've got my fingers crossed for this poor cat.

I'm not clear as to whether your wrote the story, but if not, good luck!

I couldn't face reading Bin's post yesterday, but I've looked at it this morning. It's horrific, I know. But it's good to hear that there are people like Bin in the world, as well as people like those who committed this cruel act.

Perhaps the kindness of strangers would make a suitably uplifting story? Good luck with your assignment, whenever you feel ready to begin. x

It is hard to write happy stuff when you've had news like yesterday. Thank goodness for Bin and everyone else who helped.

Hope you're doing OK, Old Kitty!

Yep, we're very sad for that little one too and double yep, the blogging bunch is totally wonderful and filled with kindness...at least the Cat Blogosphere!

I'm glad you're feeling more optimistic today, and I'm so glad Bin is there for that poor cat.

I think writing is something you have to feel. If you're not feeling the right mood for what you have to write, it probably won't turn out too good. Can you postpone for a while?

I tagged you over at my blog. If you're not in the mood for playing tag right now, maybe wait a while?

Such a beautiful quote and wonderful picture of the horse and kitty.

We understand how it would hard to write something upbeat when you weren't feeling that way.

In one way the story of Bin is an uplifting one, because of the outcome. WE have to view it that way. We are constantly amazed at the resiliency in animals and how they do not hold onto angst. They just put one paw in front of the other and go about life one moment at a time. WE could learn a lot from them!

Hi Charlie!

Happy four month bloggyanniversary!
Also, it is very hard to stay happy and upbeat when things arn't that good around you. That is why I love my pets so much because I have so much drama all the time and my pets are fine with that! They are always happy!!!
Have a great day!

I am one who couldn't go over there to read her story on her site - I know I couldn't see the pictures but I would love to help so if you hear anything please let us know.

Your quote is so apt - sometimes I see so much good in people and other times just find despair threatens to overwhelm me. It's perhaps a good thing that I didn't find yesterday's post and its links till today as yesterday was a low day for me.
I'm not sure how possible it is to write without reference to current emotions - writing is so emotional - if you've got to put feelings aside to fulfil a particular brief then it's even more difficult than I thought - I shall never try! I'm going to find Archie now to give him a cuddle, thankful that Bin has found and shown such kindness to Lucky. And I'm sure you'll be cuddling Charlie too xx

Didn't blog yesterday and so missed your post. This is so sad. There is such cruelty in the world. And Bin, too, has more than her share, it seems. I just met her through you, Old Kitty. You have such a loving heart.

I know sweet pea, but we know that kitty is in the best hands now. There's nothing else we can do 'cept offer money towards the wee one's recover, if that's what it takes. Good for you for alerting us to the post. Muttie can't stop thinking about it either.

The blogging world is amazing! I don't know if I've ever stopped by your blog, but I do know that I always see you commenting on others and you are always so sweet!

I finally stopped by to say hello and I see what a cute set up you have (I'm addicted to the hamster!! It's so cute!!!)

It's hard to write a fun piece when you're worried about someone who has undergone way too much suffering.

But, things change and it now that Bin is in a better place you can feel less stressed out about the situation.

You are a true friend to cats & they know it! :)

I totally understand how you feel. After reading about the poor cat's story, I just felt like hugging all my cats and telling them how much I love them.

Cats are so wonderful and precious. They deserve all the love in this world!

This is just too horrible; it's made me cry every time I read about Lucky...Bin is a heroine...Blessings to them both.
