Humanity

Dearest bloggie friends

I need to warn you that the link to Bin’s site will contain quite distressing pics. But amidst these ones are loving ones – especially the one where a hand reaches out gently to comfort.

I had something fun to post today but I couldn’t in all honesty do so after I came across Bin’s latest post on her blog A desperate and reluctant housewife...

She has come across a cat that she found alive but mutiliated – his paw and tail have been hacked off.

Her post is a lament on this poor cat’s behalf.

Bin isn’t well herself and has 12 other cats but she has taken this poor kitty in.

And I’m feeling sick to the gut.

You know we are so capable of such love and humanity, such selflessness and courage, fortitude, faith, intelligence, curiosity, logic, creativity...

And yet.

I’m sorry I really in all honesty didn’t plan on having such a sombre post today.

I want this blog to be a refuge from some of the realities out there, but even I can’t stomach or ignore this.

And yes I know, I know there are bigger issues out there, bigger world events that perhaps dilutes this cat's suffering at the mercy of whoever did this to a speck in the grand scheme of things.

I know.

Dearest Bin, thank you for taking this lovely creature into your heart and your home.

Here's hoping that your beautiful act of kindness starts a ripple into something bigger.

I went and truth be told, I wish I hadn't seen the photos, because I want to puke. And to mutilate the person or persons responsible for that. If she has an emerg vet in her area, that cat should been seen NOW. I also suggested if there is the issue of vet costs that she set up a PayPal donation account, with a button on her blog. A number of people on the CB have done that, I've donated a few times.

Old Kitty, I'm just sick, sick, sick. Beyond anything I could write.

We would like to help. Do you have a good relatonship with Bin? She should post to the CB, this is terrible but we can help make it better, one kitty at a time.
I am in tears for this kitty. I am ashamed to be human sometimes.

It sickens me the way some people treat animals and they get away with it since there are really no laws to protect them in the real sense of the word...I wish for bad things to happen to the person responsible for this horrible act and I hope Bin is blessed for her loving act of kindness toward such suffering...This is so upsetting.(Sorry for bad wishes on people but that was the nicest thing I could say about that evil person.)

I hope that starts something positive too, we all deserve that.

I went to visit the blog and I might donate some money for the treatment because I know the cost of treatment here is costly...

As a society, we are judged by how we treat our most helpless. Too often we fail. Animals, children, the elderly, the sick count on us to look out for them.

I read this post on Beth Revis's blog yesterday, and thought the poem was beautiful:

I'm glad there are people like Bin and you.

Oh, Kitty...What an awful tale. I don't know how anyone could purposely hurt an animal...I can't bring myself to click on your links...You know I have two cats and one of them had a horrible accident. I'm hyper-sensitive...

Yikes! Who would want to do that to a poor little kitty cat? My heart goes out to Bin...

I am always astounded what lows people can reach, poor little cat.

I can't go look, I get way too upset.
Could you please keep us cowardly types posted? And let us know if they are accepting donations?
KC loves nothing more than to help out with donations, and will post the info on the Cat Blogosphere or wherever it will help.
But I warn you, we have a lot of squeamish folks in the CB, so we need to be careful with the photos.
I am so thankful for the rescuer (sp?).
If we can help in any way -- other than by viewing graphic photos -- please let us know.
Love & Purrs,
Mom ML & KC

I couldn't go and look at the pictures. It breaks my heart that people would be so, so awful.

Unfortunately, we can't look at the pictures. But, we can send our greatest purrs to that sweet kitty and the wonderful and caring person, Bin.

We would like to help if funds are needed to help this poor kitty. So far away what more can we do but support the lady who is tending this kitty.

We can only hope that the kitty will eventually be pain free and left to live in peace with a good home and loving care.

I cannot go to Bin's site because I think the pics will be just to upsetting for me. The thought of people harming any animal is just heartbreaking to me. The kitty is so luck that Bin has such a big heart and has taken him in, she is a great example to us all. Thank you for telling us of this kind act. We are sending purrs to Bin and the kitty.

i offered to donate to vet bills if she sets up a donation account (like Paypal), and a few other people did, too. Hopefully we'll see that up on her blog soon.

Old Kitty
There are lots of us who will gladly help out financially if a chip in or pay pal donation button can be arranged. We all know how expensive care is and we would love to help such a blessed angel...and we can't speak of the inhumanity of it all...we can't........

I, like many others, just can't make myself go and look at what what was done to this poor kitty. I admire Bin for taking in the kitty and will do what I can to help out.

I went and looked at the pictures and the tail does look really bad. But I think if she takes it to the vet, it can be helped with some antibiotics. Also, cat blogospere is terrific about putting up donations for situations like this.
Like someone else asked, do you know this person??? We would all like to help. Just let ML know. Please, to save that cat's life.
Bin should be heralded for taking the cat in. Good for her.

Ah, life truly is just one big ol' pot of emotions, isn't it? Of course you are moved. I am afraid to click. You know how I feel about cats and images tend to stick in my head.

You are such a sweet person and your emotions show here.

Thank you for bringing this atrocity to our attention. So many of us would like to help in any way...so please pass the word on to Bin. I could not go to her site..if just breaks my heart that anyone could be so cruel and this quote says it all...

It is so sickening to think that people can do such horrible things to poor animals. I didn't look at the photos because I know I couldn't bear it.

However, it is nice to know there are people like Bin in the world, too.

Angie Paxton said...

That's awful. Thank heavens that there are people like Bin to balance out the ugliness and cruelty in this world. Sending love and positive thoughts to both Bin and her new cat.

Cruelty is never a small speck in the scheme of things. Each so called small Cruelty is the grand picture emphasizing the failure of mankind. Too sad!

Dear Sweet Kitty! I cannot go look for fear that it would break my heart and turn my stomach. People are capable of such good and such unthinkable horror. Praise God for those of good hearts who will step out of their paths, or their comfort zones, to help those in need! I will pray a special blessing on Bin and on the poor helpless kitty she has rescued!

That's so horrific. Of course you couldn't post something light-hearted afterwards, and I agree with other commenters that incidents like this are important in the "big scheme" too. I'm glad the cat's now with someone caring.

What a precious looking kitty! Great coloring. I just see a wonderful cat who has been given a fine home.

As the Dalai Lama said, "Compassion is the best source for happiness--for happy life and happy world."

Your friend is practicing great compassion which will in turn benefit not only the cat, but many others.

Thank you Old Kitty for posting this on your blog today.

So, so, sad! I hope he can be helped. People that abuse animals should be jailed.

This is horrible. We just had on our news that someone is pouring gas on kittens. It is just sick and I think these people should go to prison for a very long time because they are dangerous. This is just so sick and horrible.

It's absolutley unbelievable that people could be so cruel, the poor cat, I'm sure he/she will recover now that there is someone so kind to take care of her. Thankfully.
Best wishes to them

Ok, I can't bring myself to go over there - just reading what you posted made me so upset and angry and also made me love Bin so much for helping this poor cat. People that are evil enough to do that to a cat deserve to have the same and worse happen to them.

This is so upsetting :(. We are sooooo sickened by people who treat animals like that.

Thank you to Bin who has such a kind heart. We need more people like her in the world.

We are purring and praying for the poor cat and Bin.
