Broods

To ease everyone into Sunday I thought I'd share this pic I saw in yesterday's Guardian newspaper:

It's a parent longtailed tit with ELEVEN of her brood to feed! Now isn't that just lovely for a Sunday? The full story is here.

Charlie says: I like the pic but for reasons best kept to myself!

Now who watched the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest last night?!?!

And if really interested, Germany won (with a very catchy ditty - if you follow the link above you can see the video of said ditty!). UK came last with a godawful song, sang awfully! Oh how I laughed.

Have a sing-a-long Sunday everyone!

Longtailed tits. I followed your link and learned something interesting.

Makes me think of that wonderful song in the movie Mary Poppins. Feed the Birds. (not feed Charlie, sorry)

Charlie, we echo your sentiments, completely. Whatever they might be.

O.K.,
Thanks for sharing that beautiful story of the mother bird w/ 11 little ones! Love that picture of 1 real hungry 1 & the rest patiently waiting for their turn! Poor Mum Bird looks a bit frazzled!

People, do what the article says & leave seeds & nuts out for these winged friends of ours! :)

Yes, I love birds as I much as I love cats & I'm sure Charlie love the birds too! :)

I followed the link to the long-tailed tit story too. What a terrific photo!

We can guess Charlie's reasons for liking the picture. LOL!

Have a wonderful Sunday, both of you!

11 mouths to feed - Bet you the baby weight just fell off her! I'm loving Charlie's more devious side... :)

Oh my that is the best picture. What a huge brood to have to feed. Must take her all day for them to get something to eat. Wonder how she keeps them all lined up so nicely. Thanks for the nice smile this morning.
Charlie, you cannot have those birds. They are too cute.
Have a great Sunday

Oh how cute! Tits and phallic symbols, we're on fire on our blog today, Old Kitty!

I refused to watch the Eurovision. No! I shall never succumb!

Thanks for sharing that pic - they are so patient lined up on their twig. Charlie's interest would be the same as the Ginger Whinger and the Naughty Tortie, I feel. :)

And yes, I did watch Eurovision - I thought Germany would win, good song! The UK entry was awful I agree - I think if you are going to do Eurovision, then you must put on a show - that way it doesn't matter if you have an awful song! Pyrotechnics, lyrca, leather, dancers, snake-charmer (Why not?!) - these are the ways to woo the voters!

The story of the Longtailed Tits was in the Telegraph as well yesterday. Mama bird certainly had her work cut out. I am ashamed (not) to say I didn't watch the Eurovision song contest -
saw on the news this morning that we were last again - why do we bother???

I've never heard of birds having such big families before - I found that article really interesting. And the pic is so cute (actually, both pics, birds and Charlie!)

One of the little baby birds bears an intriguing resemblance to Simon's Cat! But that's probably not what Charlie meant... :)

What a lovely photo of the birds. Archie bought me a lovely second-hand headless bird earlier in the week which I promptly confiscated, but he does love his feathers!
Son no. 2 watched some of Eurovision for the first time with me last night, he seemed quite baffled by the whole experience! xx

Hah! I see the cow kitty wants to get together with the cow birdies.

Hello Charlie, you look fab as always, but lay off the birdies they'll give you gas!
