A tiny eensy weensy writerly triumph

Nothing major!!

It's just I got my marks for the short story that I wrote aimed at women's magazines from my tutor and I'm so chuffed by it.

This is the part of his assessment that's made my night:

"This is a heartwarming and efficient story, Jennifer, in the way in which it supplies a back story and offers more than a gleam of hope at the end. One of your triumphs is your use of dialogue to establish character and push the plot forward. You give an effective thumbnail sketch of Angie but she really comes alive through what she says. This skill will appeal to any number of editors."

Awww. Well I'm happy.

Will it see the light of day in a mag somewhere? Probably not, but for now I can pat myself on the back and sleep better!

Charlie says: Ahem. I gets some of the royalties right?

Have a trimphant Thursday everyone!

That's great, Jennifer! Start looking for somewhere to send it. I just submitted a manuscript to Black & White Publishers in Scotland...I don't know about women's magazines in the UK, but we have a lot of them here...Your teacher liked it, don't stick it in a file...Go for it!

How wonderful. Congratulations. My motto is, you won't get something published if you don't send it out. This response certainly says Do It!! Do it, and then start something else.

We're still in Wednesday here in USA Virginia, 9:30 p.m. Haven't fed Jen supper yet! Been trying to piece together a memoir that I think just might work. Have to try!

Good Thursday to you and Charlie! Keep that happy glow. You WILL let us know if the story lands in a mag.... Be cautiously positive...

Hi!!! You will be happy to know I MAILED your Gabe prize!!!! I took out the cat nip because I didn't want to cause problems in customs so I replaced it with a few other gifts!!! It took me forever to get to the pet store, that is what took so long, but it's mailed and you should have it soon!
Have a happy Thursday!

Well done - it's great to get positive feedback. Best of luck getting it published, it sounds like an entertaining story.
I've been trying to publish freelance articles for magazines for a while now and even a reply would be nice. Grrrr.
