First Harvest

Sweet bloggie friends - I am proud to present here my first harvest of strawberries.

All five of them. LOL!

The grapes are from Waitrose!

Charlie says: Not to worry, I'll go and forage next door

p.s. Doctor Who was FABULOUS!!!! What an ending!!

Hurrah for your own strawberries! No matter that you have five--they're all the sweeter because YOU grew them!

Happy Sunday!

I want to know who lives next door. Do they smell of nip?

Are you going to have your homegrown strawberries with cream or icecream we wonder. Glad you enjoyed Dr Who - I recorded it so have not seen it yet.

The strawberries are lovely!
Charlie's ail look a bit like a black grape from that angle. :)

Hooray for the berries! And Charlie has the right idea. Love that cat! (Jen says hi; and BTW, today is her birthday! Hope I can get a post for her sometime. We spend the afternoon at church.)

There may only be five, but those strawberries look scrumptious! I'm sure there will be many more to come. :)

Five is (are?) a start though - well done!

Does Charlie need keeping away from the fruit?

I got one strawberry today! I left the rest to ripen a bit more - I think I'll get about a dozen in total as there's just one hanging basket of them, but at least they'll all be my own!
We liked Dr Who too although I do feel I need a grown-up to explain all the plot twists and turns to me - time travel is always a bit confusing.xx

Poor Charlie, only eating meat (and grass)...the berries look scrumptious!

They look so juicy. Hopefully next year you'll get a bumper crop but still it must be quite satisfying to know that you grew them yourself. It's nearly a shame to eat them...

Remember, it's not the quantity but the quality that counts. I hope you ate them with something nice like clotted cream!

When I was a teenager my parents bought a house that came with a tortoise. We christened him Teapot, and he would sneak into the neighbours garden and eat their strawberries. We always knew it did it because his mouth would be stained red. When we sold the house, he was left behind for the new residents.

Yay! Your strawberries ripened and withstood Charlie's claws. Congrats!
