Art - not just for bipeds

Oh this tickled my funny bone, lovely bloggie friends!

A free concert by Laurie Anderson and Lou Read was put on at the Sydney Opera House, Australia - exclusively for doggies!

The music was played at a pitch that only dogs (and bats and cats) could hear - so the concert was in near-silence apart from the doggies really loving it - tails wagging and lots of howling. Well I hope they enjoyed it!

Anywhere here is a clip of the news item ( a better one is at the BBC site, here)

Charlie says: Ow!! My ears, my beautiful ears!

Have a musical Wednesday everyone!

Wow that is crazy - how would they know if they were getting it right? I guess the dogs would not mind if they messed it up because, well, they are dogs and probably don't know the songs!

Gosh, I hope Charlie doesn't roll down the steps!

That is an adorable photo of Charlie!

I've never head of an animal concert. I wonder how much they charged to go to the concert. Did animals and people get charged the same? Was it two-for-one?

I just love your Charlie pictures - this one is one of my favorites! A concert for dogs - what a concept! It would have been fun to see all those tails wagging. :)

Lou Read???!!! I'd be all over that too. :o)

That was a great clip--thanks for sharing. And you're right, the BBC link was even better.

Have a great day!

Charlie our Mum would love to rub your tummy and give it a smooch - she says it looks very inviting. Please be careful and don't roll the other way and go tail over head down the stairs.

Awesome! My cat, Yoshi, plays the piano and also the guitar. I swear that he really does enjoy the music he makes.

Charlie looks rather unmoved by that performance! :)

How … different! Makes me wonder if I'd have heard anything. When I was around 7 or 8 I remember being in this department store with my mom and there was a high-pitched sound that was hurting my ears. Come to find out it was the store's security system. The manager said normally that pitch was only heard by -- you got it -- dogs.

I'm just going to tell my animals there is a concert and then look at them like, "What? You don't hear that?"

I'm with Charlie! LOL! Thanks, as usual, for the smiles!

That is a good idea about the concert for the dogs and cats. Charlie we would cover our ears too. But then us humans, how do we know what is being played.
That is a wonderful picture of you Charlie covering up your ears.
Have a great day.

Now that's one thing I have never thought of! I wonder how they made it so high pitched that human's couldn't hear it?

I have met cats that start walking up you if you're singing but I don't know if this means they like it or they want it to stop!

We don't think Buddy would take kindly to it. He howls at the phone cause it precedes the answering machine. And he doesn't like the pitch of the am.

I think Charlie's safe from that concert as he's just a few miles away from it! He sure looks cute, tho'! :)

Great idea to keep dogs entertained. But it doesn't really cut down on noise pollution if the dogs are howling!
