The Fall

What a weekend this promises to be!

It’s going to be a SCORCHER!

And on telly tonight: the final episode in the series of the eleventh Dr Who .

I for one will be on tenterhooks with tissues to the ready because in last week's cliffhanger there was a riotous cacophany of love, reunion, death - and a Doctor defeated.

I thought this whole series a brilliant lesson in how to write a story. Set a running theme throughout. The audience must grow to love your characters. Then in the penultimate hurdle - set these beloved characters up for a fall - not just any other fall - the situation has be so dire and the heroes have to be facing their worst nightmares and are seemingly defeated. Their fall is painful and gut-wrenching. There isn't a hope in hell. Until the final scene (I hope so anyway!).

And last but not least. Football!! Sunday at 3pm: England V Germany.

What can I say? It's a beautiful game.

Charlie says: This is a football free zone. Kindly desist all talk of penalties, the off side rule and vuvuzelas. Thank you.

Have a sunny Saturday everyone!

My brother's a huge Dr. Who fan. I've been meaning to check it out, but haven't gotten the chance to yet. Hope the final episode lives up to your expectations!

And, of course, Charlie is the bomb. But you already knew that :D

It does sound like a most exciting weekend. Enjoy it to the fullest!!

When you say scorcher, I think of weather, since we're in the hottest June on record, and it's SO hot and humid! But it's Jen's birthday week - her birthday's Sunday - and she's been having a "scorcher" of a time thanks to some very dear friends.

I like what you say here about writing a story. Getting involved with the characters is everything. You've articulated this so well!
She says "hi" to you and Charlie!!

Sounds like you have a full (TV) weekend planned!

I love when characters are in situations that seem impossible to get out of. That's how I felt when I read Harry Potter 4. I knew there was a 5 out, and a series of 7 planned, but still I thought, There's no way he can get out of this one!

Hope you manage to get some fresh air like Charlie. Have a great weekend.

I'm right there with Charlie about vuvuzelas. I love football though, watching it even though Australia is out now. Sigh.

I actually thought they'd overdone it with throwing every possible enemy at The Doctor. I'll still watch though.

Oh yes, Dr. Who and the football, it should be a cracker! England v Australia in the cricket on Sunday too! Not sure if Charlie goes for cricket either ...

We used to get Dr. Who, but CBC doesn't seem to be carrying it any more.

I do like a running theme throughout a season--Star Trek: Deep Space Nine had this and it was my favourite of all the Trek series. Partly too because it was darker, edgier.

So enjoy your weekend of television! I'm not watching the World Cup...My dad and his brother are German, so maybe I should, and root for Germany. LOL. Nah, I'd only watch for the eye candy, frankly. ;-)

Happy Saturday! Smooches to gorgeous Charlie.

Happy Scorchio! It is indeed! :)

Yes, I am off to a BBQ with some Germans tomorrow to watch the match. That should certainly prove interesting.

Hope Charlie stays cool!

Hope Dr. Who comes out like you would like for it to come out or get solved.
Have a good one.

I love Doctor Who. I wasn't too impressed by the finale's first twenty minutes or so but it was resolved very satisfactorily in my opinion. Hope you enjoyed it! x

I could probably take or leave football (the world cup variety) except the men who are playing are SO FABULOUS (especially when they pose with very few clothes on) *cough*

Hope you survive the heat! Pretty darned comfortable here right now--hubby the baby thinks it's too humid, but I secretly like humidity until it's about 90.

*puts Dr. Who on list of shows to track down*

So sorry about the loss to Germany. The USA is also out of World Cup competition :-(

I have a feeling a team form South America is going to come out on top. Time will tell!
