Books, Beach, Ball

So finally we have a mini-heatwave (along with a high pollen count and the onset of hayfever season).

What better way to celebrate than with a day at the beach with a book – or more precisely a day at the beach with shelves full of free books!

Or better still a day at the beach with free books AND this guy! LOL!

Ok – this really is IKEA celebrating their 30th year by setting up their famous Billy shelves on Bondi Beach in Australia in January/February this year.

But what a fun way to go book-swapping!

Charlie says: Don’t speak to me you broke my yellow toy thing!

(I did, lovely bloggie friends! I stepped on it! See the broken ball bit on a stick? That's attached to a long stick and should be under the yellow cover. Ooops.)

Have sunkissed Saturday everyone!

Oh no Charlie, that really didn't happen did it? Looks like you will have to take a nap instead of playing, oh well.

Aww... poor you Charlie... but don't get so mad at mommy, dear friend. I'm sure she did not mean it!

Love this Billy bookcases. I had them for a long time, as they last & they're very inexpensive.

Nice browsers hanging about the bookcases. Nothing sexier than a guy who has washboard abs & is literate.

Poor Charlie, you might have to get him a new toy! :)

Right, if only our beaches were like that in the second picture, I will head for the beach every day but then we have sudden thunderstorm over here.

Those letters in the sand look like "KEA," I can't see the "I". Heh.

Well...Let's just say that I'd like to check HIM out...never mind the books! (And that says a lot, since I love, love, love books!) LOL.

You do come up with the most interesting things. :-)

Tell Charlie I hope his "mum" either fixes the toy or gets him a new one! Is that the Undercover Mouse?

OOh.. I love all those bookshelves at the beach! Of course, I think I'd love bookshelves anywhere!

Books on a beach. Nice!

Poor Charlie. Will he be getting a new one?

I saw this photo earlier-hog heaven-books at the beach. Looks like Charlie needs some bribing.

Oh dear it sounds like Charlie is a little miffed with you for breaking his toy. Of course when you replace it he'll ignore it!!
I would love to go to that beach and choose a book with help from one of assistants.

Looks like a great beach! How come our beaches here don't have bookshelves? Oh, that's right, I don't live near any beaches. :(

So sorry about your toy, Charlie - I hate when my toys break!

Are you going to get him a new toy?! Archie likes just silver foil scrunched up into loose balls, and plays 'fetch' with them, bringing them back to our feet so we can throw them again! Not as posh as that yellow thing though. xx

Charlie, stop being such a man and get over it!!!!

Looks like our kinda beach Kitty!!

Oh Bondi Beach!
I've been there once and love it!
Bondi beach plus books is fantastic!
And Bondi beach plus books plus that guy is fabulous!!

Poor Charlie, ask your mom to buy another toy for you!

Oh dear poor Charlie but Charlie those things do happen. I bet she will get you another one soon.
Who cares about the books, our Mom is swooning over that guy.
Have a great week end.

:) Charlie still looks so adorable despite being upset!

Well Charlie, if old toys don't get broken, new ones will not come! :)

Love IKEA's creative ideas and the "hunk" on the second pix even more!

I really, really wish there were free libraries on the beach. Also, I'll take the random browsing hotty as well. Mm.

One of the things I enjoyed about being deployed to Iraq (as a Marine) was that free books were everywhere. People shipped them to us or we ordered them and then we left them rather than drag them back to the states (when you have to carry your own sea bag and it's 110 degrees, you start feeling generous). So there were free books in a pile in the woman's wash room, free books in shelves in the palaces, free books in every office. I can't help but think that's the way everything should be! (Books on the beach would be a lot nicer than books in that sand, though, lol)

Where do you find your photos, they're always brilliant! Your posts always make me smile. Weather is beautiful here too, had a ball on the beach with the kids - no books or hunks...cant have everything!

How many of those toys have you got through now?! :) Oh dear!

Books on the beach and Ikea. So much I love rolled into one!

Hi, Charlie.

What great weather we're having, hey? Fingers crossed it lasts!

That looks like my kind of beach! At the Paris Plages, they have libraries, too. We need to get some of that going in London and around England!

I love the free books on the beach idea! Wish IKEA would try that idea here.

Poor Charlie .... I'm sure you've bought him a new toy by now!

PS I do wonder if that was Carly Simon whom Mick Jagger was singing about in Memory Motel. She fits the description, and some say Carly's song "You're So Vain" is about Mick! Very intriguing.
