Wonky drawers

When I first moved into this house I was determined to create my little office area that I could truly be happy with. After all I was going to pen the latest blockbuster wasn’t I? LOL!

Anyway, apart from the obvious desk and chairs etc, I also wanted a little drawer unit on wheels for me to roll over to wherever I saw fit and to stuff it with lots of paraphernalia (or research!).

And so I bought a flat pack version and built me a stunning little thing!

Except the drawers turned out wonky.

When pulled, the front bits just came off my hands.

So last weekend I decided, enough!! I must tackle the mammoth job of keeping my drawers from falling out (oor-err missus!) And so I shall be doing just this using this:

"No more nails"! Who says I like cutting corners?

Charlie says: I’ll supervise. So there. PPTHHPTHPFFTHPPPT!

Have a tap-toeing Tuesday everyone!

Oh, I have struggled with so many "items" like this. Wonky drawers. Knobs that fall off. Good luck getting your "drawer" back into shape.

So says Jen, too, and wishes you a firm fitting Tuesday.

Good luck fixing your wonky drawers! Stuff like that can be so annoying. :(

Well Charlie we think it is a good idea to supervise this one - our mom has tried a no nails thing - it totally didn't work (but it was different stuff, so hopefully it will work for your mom). We had to be there to calm her down when she got mad it didn't work!

And I'm sure that now that your drawers are on straight that blockbuster will come to you any day now! :)

I hope the "no more nails" works! Those flat pack "put-it-together-yourself-furniture's" are not the easiest things to put together, so don't feel bad!

Oh becareful you not glues your fingers together!
Our mommy likes doing projects like that, she is getting ready to refinish our coffee table that some how, I'm not saying, has gotten all scratched up.
Good luck with your project!
Smoooches to that cute cow-kittie Charlie.

Sorry about your Wonky drawer. Next time, try Ikea. Do you have Ikea?

I hate when drawers don't have rollers, or whatever they're called so they stick and get stuck.

Charlie is supervising you, as usual.

Good Lord! At least your drawers aren't falling DOWN...that would give Charlie something to raspberry at...

Good Luck with the DIY. Don't glue any body parts together.

Perhaps Charlie rolled a screw or two away without your knowledge.
Anyway there's a certain beauty in little flaws. :)

I hope your drawers get sorted to your satisfaction!

Oh, you must let us know if that stuff holds! When Dad and I did my baseboards, we used nails for the baseboards, but "no more nails" glue for the quarter round trim. Several years later, I'm finding some of the quarter round coming un-stuck. I'm not sure the glue is the same kind of substance you are using, though. I hope yours works!

Just don't let Charlie at the glue

DIY projects always need a project manager. Good to see Charlie has it covered.

Thanks for your comments on each of our blogs today - Eric and Flynn and also Kea have kindly told me how to get rid of the extras!!
Flat packs are great to put together if you have six pairs of hands and don't lose the instructions because you are sitting on them. We wish you the best of luck with your no nails and hope it solves your problem.
Charlie makes a wonderful snoopervisor as all cats do.

Aah. . .wonky draw symdrome. Not to be mistaken with wonky leg or wonky table top symdromes.

Hope you get them fixed!

I bought some of that last year and stuck a box to the wall into which I stuff lots of bills and paperwork - so far so good - hope it works for your drawers xx

We hope it worked.

And don't worry, if we have to eat the carpet, Jan will have to join us, so we WILL have gravy to go with it. :)

OK, I am hoping things came out fine.

I hate wonky drawers!

Charley--If your mom can't type now, go get help!

For some reasong this strikes me as hemming with a stapler... not a bad plan if you are growing fast, but not necessarily permanent. Then again, I have a towel bar in the bathroom I had to replace, and the mounts are permantently ceramiced in, so I had to get a bar that is really a bit shorter than the ideal... to keep it exactly in place, so it doesn't fall down, I used a butter knife to cram play-dough behind it--now it doesn't budge. *snifty* (don't tell the hubby though--he will insist on redoing our ENTIRE BATHROOM over the matter--no making do for him...

Good luck sorting your wonkiness and never lol about writing that blockbuster because someday it might happen!

Good solution. The same thing has happened to me. Great remark Brian, loose drawers is a problem. Charlie, you had better keep your eye on your Mom. Looks like things are a little out of control. Hope the drawers stay together.
Have a good one.

How helpful was Charlie's supervision? Did he watch intently & offer advice, or was he in the general vicinity?

It's not from Ikea, is it? No doubt Charlie will make sure everything goes well!
