Thank you lovely bloggie friends for reading my microfiction short story and for all your very generous comments! You guys and gals and furry friends ROCK!!!
*******************************************
So the weather has finally turned and the forecast was for "heavy downpours."
Of course I wear my sensible shoes. However by the time I reach my station, my sensible shoes decided to eat my feet and infect them with blisters.
So what's a gal to do?
I limp to the only vaguely clothes shop-like shop that's open at 8 am. The theme of this shop is Beach Wear! And so I leave with a pair of flip flops and very grateful feet.
Just in time for the heavens to open and the rains to pour down torrentially.
At least I had my umbrella with me.
Charlie says: You have your umbrella, I have my fish!
Thank you so much lovely Bin for Charlie's fish - he loves it!!
Have a terrific Thursday everyone!

Send some that rain our way, please!
I'm always happy to meet another epic book lover. I don't care if there are 100 million fans of LOTR and Harry Potter, I'm always glad to meet one. And Dune, too! Way cool! Though I admit I kind of skimmed through some of the later books in that series. But I've re-read Dune at least five or six times, and that reminds me, it's been a few years, I might need to read it again soon.
Since you are cat lover (as I am, I have what looks like Charlie's fluffy sister- Cleopatra) have you ever read Paul Gallico's the Abandoned?
Loved your poem for the contest, by the way.
It sounds like you might have found a new pair of practical shoes. :)
What? No picture of the flip flops? I'd love to see them! One thing I love about summer is wearing my flip flops - they're so comfortable!
Rain Rain go away...We had rain today also but tomorrow we should get the sun!
Have a great day my friend!
xxoo

It's a sad day when sensible shoes torture your feet. Really, what is the world coming to? The Cats recommend going bare-pawed...Works just great for them!
Your poor feet! I hope the blisters are healing up.
What a gorgeous fish Charlie has there! :o) oh poor you with blisters... owww :o(
Oh, don't get me started on the difficulty of finding footwear that doesn't chew my feet. LOL. Maybe I ought to switch to flip flops too! :-)
Charlie definitely is enjoying his fish! How lovely of Bin to send him one.
Happy Thursday and smooches to sweet Charlie.
At least you have grateful, if a bit chilly, feet. I made the mistake of going dancing in a pair of new shoes... ouch! My feet cannot understand every time I try to prise them out of trainers, they are like 'girl - (they speak to me like that, of course) - you think we will like this 3 inch heel? You are so wrong, missy'. Plasters are my friend.
That is a mighty fine fishie!
I've got an award for you. Find the details over at my blog

Ow poor feet.
And poor you.
What a great fish Charlie. Glad you got some rain, we sure do need some too. Your flowers will grow now. Hope you have a super day.
Flip flops are fun to play with and lay on...give them a try Charlie!!!
Your poor feet! If the weather is warm, flip flops are probably better in rain anyway.
On Friday night, I wore sandals that tore at my feet, so I had to hobble to a drugstore and buy bandages. I didn't think of grabbing flip flops! Though on Beacon Street in Boston, they probably would've cost $50.
Is Charlie playing with the fish since he conquered/decapitated his other toy?
Flip flops are so comfy - as long as no-one treads on your feet or
runs over them in the supermarket with their trolley!! Love the fish Bin and Lucky sent to Charlie.
Oh, flippy-floppies are fun, but not in a torrential downpour! Ahhh! Well, at least you had an umbrella.
Love the fishy!
Oh, no. I did the sensible footwear thing yesterday and wore trainers because it was raining. But by mid-afternoon it was scorching again and my feet were baking.
It's always good practice to go out slightly unsuitable dressed for the weather anyway, then you can come home with a new essential purchase in the knowledge that you just HAD to have it. I wear my flip flops in the rain anyway because they are my most comfortable shoes! xx
That was some crazy rain this morning, wasn't it?
I hear you on shoes and blisters. You should have seen my tootsies after the RNA Conference. NOT a pretty sight!
Glad Charlie likes his fish. :)
I think flip flops are really the best option in rain (provided it isn't freezing cold). Most shoes get soggy and squishy and leave you with WET feet. Even my Crocs fill with water, which is disgusting to walk in... yeah... I think you're best off, that way.
We were waiting for a picture of the feet in the flip flops!
MOL!!!!!!!!!!

We agree that as long as it isn't a cold rain the flip flops are a great choice - they are usually waterproof. Plus they are fun if you jump in a puddle (not that I am encouraging that or anything).
And Charlie that looks like a great fish - how sweet of Bin to send it to you!!
I wear my flip flops to work and change into sensible shoes there! One day I know I will forget my other shoes and be stuck with flip flops all day - no problem for me but the bos might not like it. Yah for your flip flop save! Looking good Charlie!
