Practical Wanderlust

Sweet bloggie friends - thank you so so so so much for all your witty and comforting comments about my work shenanigans!

I have to add that in times like yesterday, I always recite this mantra:

“Ignore Adversity”

Taken from "Too Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar" – lesson no.2 to true Queenliness.

Now let's talk travelling!

One day I will find the courage to plan a weekend away – maybe to a quiet and rural retreat or maybe to a wild and unspoilt place by the sea or if I’m really adventurous to somewhere exciting like NYC. I always wanted to go there!

Oh but what shall I do about Charlie?

Here’s one solution:

A pet backpack has been invented for such a purpose: found here!

Charlie says: I prefer this, thankee very muchee!

Awww, I don't think I'll be going anywhere away from Charlie any time soon! I think I'll stick to travelling in my dreams and imagination! That's what they're there for.

Have a world is your oyster Friday everyone!

I traveled with my Pomeranian puppy when he was just a little guy by air one time. While we were in Washington (state) 911 (airplane flying into buildings) happened and we got stuck for a while. The airlines were reluctant to let me fly with my dog and trains and busses wouldn't allow it either. It was a bit frustrating. But a week later we finally talked a plane into letting us board ... puppy and all! I think that was the last time I flew actually!

I would love to take Buffy with me everywhere - but given her propensity for attacking large dogs (she's a funny cat) she won't be going further than my back deck. lol. I guess no kitty backpack for either of us.

Have a great Friday too!

That's a cute backpack! But I wonder whatever happened to letting four-legged animals be four-legged animals, not miniature humans.

Okay, okay, it would be sweet to have my Derry-bear carried next to my heart for a good part of the day. So a front-loading "baby" carrier, as it were. :-P

Happy Friday!

I want you to come to New York City! I especially want you to come to New York City if I can meet you. If you're only coming for a weekend, we could have a quick meeting. Tea somewhere? I've been known to drink a cup of tea.

You're nicer to Charlie than I am to Shaggy. I leave town all the time. If it's for a weekend, I have a friend come in. If it's more than a weekend, my husband's friend takes her. She loves it at his house, so when I pick her up she doesn't have any separation issues.

An awesome quote; I LOVED "Too Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything Julie Newmar"=what a fun, sweet movie with a great message!!...To me, the worst part of traveling is leaving my babies; I love to travel, but I really miss them so much when I'm away...Happy Friday lovely friends...kisses to sweet Charlie...J ,Calle, Halle, Sukki

If only we could take our pets everywhere instead of searching for trustworthy kennels.

Good Lord! I missed yesterday's post...Thank Cod I work with all men in an industrial setting (I operate a water treatment plant) and they're only catty with each other, and leave me alone.

Too bad it's not OK to drop the F-bomb in an office setting...or lick you private parts in public, just like a Cat would!

With 12 Cats, Hubby and I don't do a lot of traveling, either.

I think you should visit someplace closer and take Charlie along. How about Castle Combe or Bath? I loved it when I went there. Or York. It's beautiful, too. Of course, there's always Scotland . . . Well, anyway, those are my suggestions. If you do go on vacation with Charlie, I want to see pictures! :)

It is so much fun to dream. Charlie probably be much happier staying at home. Maybe there would be some kind person that could stay with Charlie. Or have a staycation.
Have a great day.

The backpack looks like a good idea, depending on just how much sweet Charlie weighs. He does not look like a little kitty.
Spontaneous has sleep overs with family near by when we travel. She is really a home body and does not mind, besides, I think they spoil her a bit.

I have a friend who carries her pomeranian in a baby carrier on her chest, but dogs like 'to go' a lot better than cats, I think. Do you have any 'tween' neighbors? Both my kids have done a fair amount of pet sitting, and it seems least disruptive, where cats are concerned.

No self-respecting cat would be seen in one of those backpacks - cats are far too independently minded! I do wish I could take Archie everywhere with me though. xx

One reason (well five actually) I haven't done much traveling is because of the furbabies. So, I definitely understand how you feel Jenn! It's just too hard to leave them, and Abby is so fussy about how she is fed. She stops eating her wet food when I am gone. (I had to take two short trips since I've had her in 5 yrs)

So I prefer to stay home and dream like you.

Abby says "hi Charlie"!

I love that backpack, though to be honest if I tried to put TK in there, I'd need a crane to hoist it on my back.
I too have unfulfilled wanderlust. Because of the kids (kitties) I have settled on the dream of owning a big RV and traveling the USA. I work "from home" by internet, so theoretically I could work anywhere.. alas, my husband hates the idea.
So I'm with you, travelling in my dreams.
Have a great weekend you two!

Hi, Jennifer. I really enjoy your posts. They are so cute and like a reader's candy in blogland. ((Hugs)) to you and being my faithful commenter on my blog. I really appreciate your friendship! <3

That is an interesting backpack! I should look into one of those for Louie! Poor Louie, not as lucky as Charlie. He got left in EC with the rest of the men.

I have this adorable pink and brown pet carrier. I got it when Macy was little. On a visit to the vet, I decided to put Stripes in it. He got out in the car. The vet said that if a cat can get its head through a space its body can go through it too...I think the second choice is best for Charlie. We took Macy and Ginger (daughter's cat) to the cabin with us. Ginger rides in a big pet carrier for most of the trip. When she needs to get out she lets us know and we let her out for a bit.

I am not a big traveler - and I think part of that is that I don't like to leave the cats. Well, that and I almost always end up annoyed and frustrated when I travel. But there are places I would love to visit, I just don't want to have to deal with any people on the way. I would love to travel with the cats but they can't stand being in the car at all. Plus with 6 - well, can you imagine the howling! So for me the best vacation is staying home and visiting other places via the internet - less stress and more cats that way!
