Wild Expectations

This lovely bloggie friends, was a very pale, very delicate, very patient butterfly or moth that was sunning itself on my front door.

I do not do it justice here.

And this wise bloggie friends, was a verdant grasshopper, impeccable and flawless – a uniform green amidst the yellow of my rose.

Honest.

There's a reason why I've taken to writing stories.

Wildlife photography is definitely not my forte!

Charlie says: Go away, these are mine, all mine!

Thank you Deborah for Charlie's pressies!!!

Have a wild Tuesday everyone!

It's hard to take pictures of small things without a camera that has a proper setting.

That's one big moth you captured! I wondered if Charlie noticed it.

Nature provides ample inspiration, doesn't it?

Your photos of Charlie are jsut fine...not everyone can take wildlife photos that look great! We prefer Charlie anyway!

The moth or butterfly looks like a beautiful scrap of fabric.
I wonder what kind it was
I was on a remote island last week which was so bare it only had a few flowers on it and a very strong wind. But there was one cinnabar moth (red and black stripes) which had somehow found these few flowers. I hope it didn't get blown out to see after visiting them! Nature is so amazing....

LOL, Jennifer, I love reading your posts. You're personality really shines. I can't wait for the day I can truly meet you face to face. (When I'm a rich published author touring the world, that is! I'll bring you a free copy of my book!) ;)

And finally! You have given Charlie his presents. Yippee!

Charlie, you haven't gotten your pressies yet?? We are coming right over. The butterfly picture is great and so is the grasshopper. We have millions of grasshoppers here and they eat everything.
Have a great day.

I've had two weird tiny lilac butterflies in my garden in the space of a week — proof that either previously doomed old species are flourishing, or my neighbour has genetically modified her knickers.

Hey, what's wrong with those photos? As Theresa says, it's hard to take close-ups.

Now, have you opened Charlie's presents yet?!

That butterfly is WAY cool! I really like bugs--not crawly ones so much (though I can get into an interesting beetle) but just this morning the siting of fireflies had me grinning on my power walk (the bunny didn't hurt either)

Wildlife photography might not be your forte (your opinion), but I think these are beautiful. I love to come into your blog and see what you've "photographed." Don't give it up!!

When will Charlie get those presents open. The suspense is near on killing me!

I think you has done an admirable job. Creating picshurs with words is an art all its own. I would be interested in you painting, in your own way, the moth. (I know you probably need another writing assignment like you need another hole in your head...)
We loves your picshurs of Charlie!

What a pretty butterfly (In my head it's a butterfly because I don't like moths. It's the way they literally disintegrate into powder eeuugh). I like your stories - still waiting on the update on the old lady :)

Hi Old Kitty.

Moths fold their wings down at rest, and butterflies fold them up. That moth is the Swallow-tailed Moth. Ourapteryx sambucaria... which should hint at one of its food plants, common elder. The caterpillars also live on clematis, alder, currant, gooseberry and other shrubs.

It is beautiful, isn't it?

It's hard to take wildlife piccies because they don't sit still and say cheese.

I had a red damselfly in my garden, and it looked like flying garnet. (There's a photo on my blog if you're interested.)
