Out of the slump and into the fire

Bloggie friends!!

1) I lost a follower yesterday – sorry (Oh it SO matters to me)!!! I blame my bad poetry!

2) I broke my writerly slump and WROTE A VERY SHORT STORY!! Yay! I hope to submit this one for the 100Stories for Queensland - and dedicate it to my sister and her kids (that’s if I submit and if it gets accepted of course!! LOL!).

3) I am calling all bloggers harbouring their inner writers to get your kitty friendly stories to this competition run by the Cats Protection League. Short stories and poems accepted. Last year’s winning entries (read here) were fantastic and I know y’all talented and creative and wonderful with words!!!

Charlie says: I interrupt your writing to watch Bird TV.

Monday. What a day! :-) xx

We're sorry you lost a follower...we did, too, a week or so go. What's up with that?

Good luck with your story telling entry.

Charlie looks a bit bold there, standing in front of your computer like that.

And thank you for your well wishes and purrs for Bowie.

don't feel bad...I lost a follower this week too! I appreciate everyone but you just can't please everybody! It might have been one of the blogs I dropped because they NEVER read or comment on mine! I get tired of talking to myself! lol
I tried to enter the contest but it isn't for the U.S.
Hope Charlie enjoyed his "Bird TV!"
If I am not around as much this week please do not be upset.
I am having painting done, a new kitchen floor put in and some new appliances delivered (mine are 35 yrs old!)
I have a lot to do plus the blog so I am not sure how often I can come around to everyone this week.
I will do my best!
xoxo

Don't worry Old Kitty, you'll get two or more new followers ;) it's usually the case. I think we've all lost one or more at one point...your blog is fun, informative, and diverse. Writers and cat lovers enjoy it all the same. ;)

We love your poetry!

Don't worry about the lost follower. I know several writers who have decided to give up and have removed their blogs.

Sad, but inevitable sometimes.

I'm sorry you've lost a follower, Old Kitty. But hey, it's their loss!

Good luck with the short story contest :)

Woohoo for breaking the slump. I don't have time to write a kitty story right now but I'm going to follow the link to read one.

I'm so glad you wrote! wonderful news!

Good luck on your writing entry! Sorry about the lost follower... sometimes people just can't keep up with all their blogs :)

I'm sorry you lost a follower :(
I lost one once, too. It was awful.

Unknown said...

Ha! I lost a follower yesterday, too! I don't usually pay much attention, but for some reason I noticed. Maybe it was the same person! :)

Rock on with your bad self getting back into the swing. I need to get back into some kind of stride, too.

Do not lament..sometimes followers delete their blog and disappear everywhere!

Congrats with getting back in the writng groove ..I hope your story is accepted in the Queensland book!

I love Charlie's fat tail! He must ahve seen a nice big bird outside the window.

Roxy said...

This is one of my favorite pictures of Charlie! Look at the fluffy tail and that immaculate white coat. He probably would hate it, but I have the urge to give Charlie a big hug. Congrats on the writing you accomplished. Hooray for you, Old Kitty!

Congrats on getting out of the slump - that's a major accomplishment!!

I get sad when I lose a follower too!

Charlie, your pants are amazing!

Mommy is thinking of a story...what a neat impetus for her!

Charlie, nothing is as important as our bird TV. I have three that keep me busy. Write when you can, I mean birds have to sleep or fly to find water sometimes. Of course they can now eat snow.

Haha bird tv! We have a cat who comes into our yard to watch fish tv. He tries to catch them, too, of course, but it's impossible. I hope he catches all the mice he wants tho. You lost a follower? I swear, it's an epidemic. I think it might be people giving up blogging for their new years resolutions. Altho I know just what you mean...it feels personal.

Susan Fields said...

I lost two followers in the past week. I have no idea what I've done, but I hope I stop doing it soon! :)

Unknown said...

I don't know if this will make you feel better but sometimes when bloggers stop blogging and they cancel their blogs and accounts, the blogs they follow are also deleted. This is probably what happened.

commiserations over losing a follower :-(

Great news on the writing slump though ;-)

Anonymous said...

I have lost a few lately- but cannot blame anyone really, other than my erratic frequency of blog posts.... but it distresses me when I do.

Anonymous said...

Who would unfollow you? Perhaps someone deleted his/her account.

Yay on the short story.

MorningAJ said...

Blogger spent most of yesterday telling me that I don't follow anyone. So maybe it just miscounted your followers.....

Brigid O'Connor said...

Good luck with your short story submissions, glad you broke your writerly slump!

Kea said...

Hurrah for breaking your writerly slump! :-)

Sorry about losing a follower...it's happened to me and while it's natural to take it personally, really, it's not life and death. And sometimes it's just a matter of "house cleaning." I'm following (or subscribed to) well over 300 blogs, have un-followed from some, added more, etc. There's a limit to how many a person can keep up with!

I'm sorry you lost a follower, but it's great that you're in the writing groove again!

Monday, what a day indeed.

Good luck with your submission to the QLD floods anthology. They need all the help they can get.

Don't fret too much over loosing a follower. Sometimes it just happens thanks to blogger boogers! Get it Charlie!!!

We'd love to participate, but Mommy can't write to save her life! We're the writers in the family! ;)

Yes I have lost a follower and that made me sad too.
Thanks for the heads up on the CPL competition. Are you a subscriber to The Cat? :O)

Good for you to get out of your slump. We are expecting great writings now. I am so glad that you mentioned followers. I hadn't signed up to follow you. I just forget to do that. Anyway, you just gained another follower. Have a terrific week.

Stopping in to make sure that you made it home safely from my birthday party. Thank you so much for coming it was so nice to spend the day with you. I hope you had a good time.
Nice that you have a window right by your work space, makes it easier to watch those birdies outside.

Sorry you lost a follower! And best of luck with the 100 stories, it would be especially nice if your short story made it to this particular book!

We hope you do a story Jenn - we went over and read some of stories on your link - we think you can do s well or better. Charlie get ready to mop your mum's brow while she is writing her entry to the competition.

Congrats on writing a story! That's wonderful news.

Don't worry too much about losing a follower. It happens to everyone, and it's just a fact of blogging life. Followers come and they go, but the majority stay. Don't take it personally--you have a lovely blog!

laughingwolf said...

fret not overmuch, kit... i keep losing followers on a regular basis, some 20-25 so far... nothing i can do... all are free to come, and go

Tara said...

Don't fret over the lost follower. I've lost 2 or 3 along the way. I never know who they are, but I've noticed that some of the blogs on my list have been deleted, so it happens. People also try and prune their lists - I did when I first started blogging, but the realized I ignore the list anyway and go where I can...

Good luck on your short story - and yea for breaking the slump!

notesfromnadir said...

O.K.,
You'll gain many, many more followers, so don't blame it on anything personal. Oftentimes, people just close their accounts.

Glad you wrote a short story & for such a good cause.

Will look into the kitty-friendly stories.

Charlie, did you find a nice bird channel to watch? :)

Bossy Betty said...

Followers come and go! You remain and are fantastic in all ways!

Now, if only I could style my hair the way Charlie does--it's be as good looking as he is!

Thank you SO much for all you recent comments on my blog! They mean so much to me!

Hart Johnson said...

I wouldn't take a lost follower personally--really I wouldn't. I think sometimes people just go off line. Hope your story is chosen for the Queensland fundraiser! Very good cause... And I like the kitty cause, too. I wish I could write short stories.

Pip said...

There should be no "if I submit". Your writing is wonderful. Just DO IT!
Smoooches to sweet Charlie!

Ellie Garratt said...

Oh, no. I know how you feel! Losing a follower is the worst feeling.

You wrote a short story! Good for you. It's for a great cause as well.

Ooo...I'll have to check out the competition. Thanks for the link!

LTM said...

Charlie's tail is very fuffed out right there! I wouldn't worry about that silly lost follower. It was probably a spammer or someone who decided to leave the blogosphere entirely. Not you! You, my dear, are fantastic~ :o) <3

Rene said...

Charlie, look at your wonderful plume tail! We're sorry you lost a follower--it wasn't us. :-)

*HUGS* I know, seeing that empty square on your followers list smarts, but you know what?

Someone told me that only the truest of friends who know and appreciate you will always be there for you.

You ARE loved!

I really admire you and optimism. I also thank you for your dedication in visiting my blog every time I have a new post. It really warms my heart.

Thanks for being a real friend, Jenny!

Sorry you lost a follower too. I lost and gained one this weekend, so it all evened out I guess. Can't help but wonder where these people go. Is it something we said?!

I'm writing something for Queensland. Good luck with your submission!

klahanie said...

I'm sorry you have lost a 'follower'.
Yet, it doesn't really matter. What am I saying? I lost two 'followers' (I hate that word 'follower') on my site. Never mind eh :-)
I wonder if it would be okay if Penny the Jack Russell dog and modest internet star, to write a kitty friendly story? What do you reckon? Take care.

I understand how you feel about losing a follower. Everytime I see that I lost one I get so upset and think what did I say to make you leave?! It was probably because all I do is whine about losing weight lol ;)

I'm almost done writing my short story "The Morgue" and I always wanted to get one of my stories published some where so maybe I'll check out that website :)

Jane Kennedy Sutton said...

I was playing around with my blog design once and accidently 'unfollowed' the first couple of blogs on my list, so I wouldn’t take it personally.

Congratulations on completing a short story – good luck with it.

Don't take losing a follower too bad. I know another person that this happened to and during the discussion it turns out that some sites limit how many people you can follow. This person probably needed room for someone else they are more akin to.

Good luck with your story. I have the link on my blog.

Love the way Charlie interrupts for his "discovery channel" - live!
Makes me smile!

Old Kitty - I don't know how you could lose a follower. Your posts are fun, your pics of Charlie adorable. Just know we can't all please everyone, right?

I lose followers all the time, but I know I deserve it. Still it hurts my feelings, too.

Sorry, sweetie! Charlie, I love your tail, so charming and fluffy. Hugs to you and your owner from this chick who loves Buffy (the Vampire Slayer). LOL

Dear One,
Don't feel bad about losing a follower. Perhaps can't be helped. Maybe someone died. You have so many faithful followers and people who love you (and are living). :) We all look forward to your poetry and your wacky day titles and your positive "take" on life.
Love to you.. Manzanita

There are some bloggers that I started following when I was first introduced to this world that I no longer visit. I think of unfollowing, but to do so would make them (and me) feel bad. I am sure they were just cleaning up their blog. By the way, I sure missed Charlie while I was away. It's good to be back and see him up to his tricks.

Patsy said...

I'm sure your lost follower is due to a computer glitch or maybe they've deleted their blog and so they don't show up now? Can't be due to bad poetry or I'd have no followers at all!

penandpaints said...

Good luck with your story and thank you for the links, must write a cat ish story, I do love those hehe.
Don't be sad about your lost follower, you'll have another dozen in no time, I'm sure!

I'm sorry to hear about the lost follower, but it could just be Blogger; it's been known to tell me I'm not following anyone.

Hurray for breaking the writing slump! :)

I love Charlie's poofy tail too! Does he accidentally whack you in the face with that tail as you write or not? Our 2 cats like to walk over my wrists as I blog and I have to wonder why that is!
I lost a follower last week and I have no way of knowing why or who it was but as "Cat Chat" said,"You can't please everybody", and it is very hard to keep up with commenting on a daily basis! Sometimes it takes up 2 hours of my time but I guess it is better than spending too much money at the mall, etc, right?
Thanks for wishing me a happy blogoversary! You are one of my best supporters of my blog and I appreciate it!
