The Waiting Game

Bloggie friends!

The worst thing about submissions? It’s the waiting. It’s just awful. I hate it.

I thought I'd just say! LOL!

Charlie says: I wait very patiently for Mr Birdie to come closer.

Happy Robert Burns Night to all Scottish people everywhere!

We hope your patience and waiting pays off -- for you both! :-)

Waiting is truly awful! All that time to suppose they love it, or hate it, or love it, or never get the email....argh! Here's hoping you don't have to wait long.

Maybe you could help Charlie watch for birdies to pass the time!

I agree waiting on submission is the worst, you start out excited to have submitted something then as time slowly drags on the hopeful anticipation turns to regretful worry. Best of luck!

Oh, Kitty, Jen and I just love your comments on my post today (tomorrow for you)!! You made our day. And we're feeling a bit better today, thank you! Yes, waiting is SO difficult. But "all good things come to those who wait." !! We're keeping our fingers and toes crossed for you. (It's heartwarming how patiently Charlie waits. We could take lessons from him!!!)

Happy Robert Burns Night to you too! Hope your waiting results in good news. Fingers and toes crossed.

Oh yikes. The waiting game for the response to your submissions must be awful.
Of course me, shy and modest me, doesn't have to worry about such things. The last time I submitted something was when I was ten years old. I submitted a play to a Canadian television station. I'm still waiting for a reply. Thank goodness you wont have to wait that long:-) Hello Charlie.
Take care and keep smiling, Gary

Waiting stinks!!!

I have one of those geneology charts (somewhere) that shows our family's connection to Robbie Burns :)

Forgot about Burns night. What are you submitting?

I don't know if patience is a virtue as much as it's torture! But you can do it!! Hang in there, sweetness! Good things will come to you.

I hate waiting for anything period cause I'm not a very patient person. If It's something that I wanted for a long time it makes it harder. It makes the wait worth while though.

Charlie, you need some bird seed to lure them birdies over!

Oh, Charlie's so sweet. Cats have the patience of waiting and when they see the birdie or a flying leave they "scream". If you have a moment please view my post just put on about my cats. Thanks for sharing.

We hope Mr Birdie comes much closer to a certain patient Charlie cat. We hope his mum is as patient waiting to hear about her submissions!! Good luck to both of you on successful outcomes!

How true Old Kitty! I don't make many submissions, so I tend to know exactly how many weeks, days, hours, minutes even(!) my stories have been out. And all the while dreading that large envelope in the post, with my own handwriting on the front :-)
Have a great week !
All best
Karla

I can only imagine how excruciating it must be to wait for word on your submission! Charlie, maybe you can share your secret about patience!

Ditto on the waiting!

Does Charlie ever catch anything? ;-) Mine cornered a baby squirrel in the house a few weeks back! EEP!

Absolutely. If you can, I'd say try and have several submissions out there. The more the better. Then you don't wait so expectantly on just one.

Luna said...

Good luck to you! Keeping my fingers crossed...:)

Oh, I hope you get your submissions back soon.

Charlie is so cute! I think he's secretly waiting for your submissions. He doesn't want to appear too eager so he pretends he's bird watching.

Mysti said...

That's when you submit, write it down on your calendar, and dive into another project with all your might. Soon, that six weeks (or whatever minimum time) has elapsed, and you can gently ask if anyone has looked at your manuscript.

Good luck!!

oh, kitty! It's so true... I'm playing the game right now, and I feel like I'm losing it... sigh. Maybe Charlie could teach me to be patient. ;p

at least Charlie will catch Mr Birdie, after waiting forever we still have no guarantee of catching our birdie.

Time to find a distraction! (most effective if it's a naked distraction)

Positive thoughts coming your way! Hang in there, writer-lady. Submitting is nerve-wracking but also kind of exciting. (Watch out bird. Charlie's a skilled hunter with excellent fur)

Me, too!! I am dying. I hate, hate, hate waiting! :-)

Waiting is annoying, but I always think that while I am waiting there is always hope. Waiting is better than a rejection!

I would go nuts too waiting to hear something. It will be all good, I just know it.

I know Old Kitty!

Nothing will stop me checking my in-box at times like that!

I try to forget I've sent it at all - need a bottle of red for that!

Tracy said...

Yes, it certainly checks our patience, doesn't it? but keep busy and keep writing and the response will be a pleasant surprise! (at least that's what I tell myself; easier said than done!)

Patiece is all we need, isn´t Charlie? Kisses!

Know how you feel as I used to work on the other side. We'd wait till almost closing when the editor would say, 'oh, we could use that to stuff the gap here'. No gaps? You have to wait longer. Wish you all the best.

Jenn said...

Why do they call it a game?!? It's no fun at all.

I hope you and Charlie don't have long to wait.
