P's and Q's

So there I am queueing at the till with my “buy 2 boxes of Felix Meat Gravy pouches for £5.00”!!! cat food on the conveyor belt when the woman in front turns to me and asks:

“Is your cat fat?”

Bloggie friends!! My eyes flew wide, my jaw dropped and I lost my voice momentarily.

But it’s ok – it turns out she’s about to adopt a stray where she lives and she’s never had a cat before and didn’t know the correct amount to feed her soon to be kitty.

So I forgive her.

Charlie says: I don’t.

The above pic was taken this morning with my super new memory card!!

Have a ticklish Thursday everyone!

9 terrific days to Christmas!

Hi there,
Yes, it's me Penny the Jack Russell, again. Charlie, you must learn to forgive:-)
And your international readers might not know what 'queuing' is.
Congratulations on your new memory card!
Take care. Pawsitive wishes, Penny xx

Fat indeed! I wouldn't forgive her either, Charlie!

Aww poor kitty I hope this doesn't mess with Charlies self confidence.

Is your cat fat! There are so many other ways she could've asked about her new kitty's diet!

You have to use this in a story!

I like Charlie's back to your new super duper new memory card and that lady...hmm. To ask if Sir Charlie was FAT?!?!? I don't think I forgive her either. That's like asking her what her waist is! I hope she gives the stray kitty a good home tho...

PS. Tommy eats more stuff on her 'za than tomoto and cheese--like everything except the little fishes....

When we got Roo, who needed kitten food, we found out that we had a problem. Roo liked Kitty Boss's food better, and Kitty Boss, being easy to please, ate the kitten food, which is LOADED with calories.

KB is a bit overweight, but it's slooooly coming off...

That's what ran through my head when I read your post :)

That's a heckuva question!

Charlie, you are NOT fat, we promise.

Yeah, well if I were Chralie, I' be offended as well...there are many questions to ask if you are getting a new cat but 'Is your cat fat?' that is kind of odd...oh well~ it made for a funny blog and added a smile to my morning!

Both our cats get fatter in the winter when they can't get out as much!

Susan Fields said...

Of course you're not fat, Charlie! And I hope you enjoyed your Felix Meat Gravy pouch. :)

LOL - but good on her adopting a stray!

Kea said...

LOL! Well, she might have prefaced the question by explaining her impending adoption. :-)

Charlie's not fat anyway, no worries there. Take a look at chubby Derry, who needs to lose about 3 pounds. He's very roly poly, and on his small frame it's not healthy. Er, rather like me!

What an odd way to put it! I'm glad she wasn't really being rude... at least intentionally. :o)

And Charlie, you're purrrfect the way you are, darling.

Stacy said...

Oh, Charlie's in good shape.

She better hope Charlie doesn't discover where she lives!

Summer Frey said...

Haha! That's great.

I know exactly how much (or how little?) to feed my kittens, but they act so hungry all the time that I give in constantly.

They're starting to get quite the rotund figures...

We hope you punched that lady on the nose for saying cruel things about Charlie - he has the perfect fizzeek!!

*giggles* I don't blame you Charlie, I wouldn't forgive her either! You know... I've always used dry food and just let the cat decide... One cat out of 4 got fat that way. The rest seem to know how much they need.

Charlie sure looks well rested!

Thank you for educating a future cat parent about what a cat needs.

LOL! Charlie has every right to be offended. Fat. The nerve... :D <3

Hi Old Kitty
I don't blame Charlie for not foriving her - comments like that could lead to a cut back in his food - and he looks just fine as he is :-)
Thanks for the visit to my blog - I've a feeling there may be some very snowy scenes to add there soon!
All best

So glad to hear a stray will be adopted! You definitely have to forgive her for that.

Say, any tricks for getting a kitty to stay on your lap? I love a lap kitty, but my 1.5 year old Cleo won't stay put. As soon as I stop petting her, she's off my lap with a disdainful swish of her tail. there's nothing I love more than curled up in a big comfy chair with a blanket, hot cup of tea, a good book, and a purring kitty on my lap.

Charlie is fashionably fluffy, so I would also be shocked by this lady's question. :)

Charlie fat! How dare she! At least she's giving a cat a home, nice lady really.

Esme said...

That is the funniest-but her heart was in the right spot. Of course Charlie probably did not think it was funny.

Charlie isn't fat. Even with her glorious fur, she looks proportional. Did you show the woman a photo?
