A Christmas Tale

The Mistletoe Wish

Under the mistletoe I stood
Looking glam and gorgeous and good
Got a gym membership and ate diet food
Did up my hair to get in the mood
Dreamt of Prince Charming who perhaps would
Sweep me off my feet as I know he should.
Instead I’m assailed by drunken colleagues, so rude!
Work Christmas do’s ain’t the place for finding such dudes!

**************************************

So endeth my very bad poetry entry to the lovely Ellie's Christmas Tales Blogfest!

Charlie says: Be so kind as to wrap my pressie in proper wrapping paper thank you.

And here is a key courtesy of the fab Madeleine to all you lovelies who read my Through the Keyhole blog entry!

Have a scintillating Sunday everyone!

13 days to Christmas!

Another winning verse. I LOVE it.

You and Charlie have a scintillating Sunday, too. That, says Jen, is an order!

Hi Old Kitty,
Penny here, the Jack Russell dog and modest internet star.
What a nifty neato poem.
Gary, the old dude I allow to live with me, has told me about the wonders of the office Christmas do.
Something about how all the people smiled at him, through gritted teeth and wished him 'a Merry Christmas'. Evidently one fellow employee tried to get him sacked, another had an affair with his girlfriend and another stole a doughnut from his lunchbox!
Office Christmas parties eh:-)
Hi Charlie, if Gary dares to wrap up something in an Argos carrier bag for me; Tails the fox is gonna' get it:-)
Pawsitive wishes, Penny xx

Work functions are never fun (for me, anyway), and Christmas functions are the worst!

I gotta laugh...I actually married a guy from work. The one and only Mister Crazypants!
Which might not be a sterling example of good judgement...

Charlie, do you know that your very round black spot smack in the middle of your back really stands out!

I love your Mistletoe Wish. ::Claps::

I hope that's not really how your holiday party went. LOL.

Charlie deserves catnip-scented wrapping paper, of course.

How is he doing, is he okay now, back to normal?

Great poem! Like they say, you have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find the prince! x

Yeah, I don't tolerate that behavior very well which is why I choose not to go to work place socials. Sorry you had to put up with that; doesn't it really change your perspective about people you work with? It does me, although I try not to let it!

Loved the poem. It was fabulous.

Glad you got your key to pass on. So did we all guess your room occupant correctly? :O)

Oh Oh What delight your poetry is!!!! And the Christmas beauty is in your eye as it's even shapped in the form of a tree. Not a prince in sight, huh?
You better at least stick a red bow on Charlies present.

Charlie you tell that Mom of yours to wrap your present properly, that is for sure. Also tell her that we loved the mistletoe poem. It is so very true but sad. Hope Prince Charming comes to see Mum soon. Santa too. Take care both of you.

Charlie - what is in that bag - did you drop your mum hints in the hope of getting what you wanted? We always drop very SUBTLE HINTS when mum's going out and there's something on our wish list. The trouble is she has selected hearing!!

I love the poem. Stay away from the office do at all cost. Charlie would never be caught at one.

I'm sure you'll get all of Charlie's packages wrapped.

I like this -- sums up very well how to NOT expect to meet Prince Charming at a work-related Christmas party.

Did you wrap up Charlie's present? :)

I love how Penny, Gary's dog, leaves messages for Old Kitty. I'll have to introduce Old Kitty (Charlie) to Bella , my bengal cat. And, wow, 13 days to x-mas. Yikes!

I love it! And it made me smile. A big one!

Carolina Valdez Miller said...

Oh, now that was lovely! I've never really had office Christmas parties. Well, except for when I worked at a library, we would do small things, but nothing major. Sad for me. Or maybe not if people are drunk and rude...

Theresa Milstein said...

Fun poem!

I'm sorry there are drunken assailants at work. You should take that up with human resources.

Clarissa Draper said...

Yeah, work dudes and lots of alcohol makes it difficult to find a good smoooch.

Congrats to the winner!
