Michelin man's wife.

Bloggie friends!

Of course it wasn't all sitting around for me, I went for a walk too.

Et voila! Below is the footpath leading to Cambridge!

I did take a load of pics but all the scenery was sort of like the one above! LOL!

Charlie says: I too went for my own walk but next door were out.

What I need to know bloggie friends, is why rambling gear (goretex boots, waterproof trousers, fleece layers and waterproof jackets) are so darned UN-SEXY! LOL! I seriously looked like the michelin man's wife trudging across the tundra!

I'm so on holiday!!!!

:-)

good question, I have no idea.

There is nothing so UN-sexy as a puffer jacket. I guess all the extra layers are the reason...

Hello sweet Charlie!

You're right! I keep threatening to throw out my wife's sweatshirts just because they are so UN-sexy. Someone needs to do something about that.
Charlie?

would love to see a picture of you in your rambling gear. :)

I know what your mean Jen...but warmth is more in need than fashion when one is out in the bitter cold!
Thanks for your kind words about our annoying snowstorm and my daughter's annoying boss. I just posted soemthing more cheerful to make up for it! :)

Enjoy your holiday!

But rambling gear made everyone equal !!! ....All look michelin : )

As long as I am warm and have good boots on - don't care anymore what I look like! Lovely shot! Got my snow pics up this time - come back by!

Cause they were made by 'tramping conscious' peoples ;p always comes out 'tough n manly' looking. Reason to make your own *grin* charlie matches the pavement at the moment :)

I think someone should design women's clothing that is both sexy AND comfortable. I love the look of high heels (so pretty!) but can I walk in them without falling on my arse? Probably not.

laughingwolf said...

would you rather be cold and 'sexy', or warm and 'dumpy'? :O lol

Stooop, you're exciting me! :)

Katnip Lounge said...

You could customise your gear and paint a sexy body on it...then again, maybe not.
I'm green with envy that you're *that* close to Cambridge!

Hello! I was here, asking for friendship. ;) Would you like to follow each others blogs? Advance Happy New Year. :D

I really like that picture of the footpath. If Charlie didn't have black spots he could blend in with the snow lol

Careful you don't get cold toes Charlie! Lucky you don't have to wear parkas!

Lovely photos, I agree, I have been dressed like a Michelin woman all winter. Hope you had a lovely Christmas and Charlie looks to be in tip-top form!

Kea said...

Oh, I probably outweigh you by 50 or so pounds, so don't worry about looking like the Michelin man's wife. I've got that one covered! LOL.

You're right, though. Real, practical winter gear all is rather unattractive. At least the average person's, affordable winter gear. I see nice boots, coats, etc., none of which is suitable for walking 5kms in -20C weather. So you CAN look terrific in winter, if you're going from your house to your garage to car to underground office parking lot. Not so much if you're walking any distance!

It sounds like you're having such fun!

I wear a ski jacket into town, with my mobile phone and my purse in pockets on one side of my chest. I look lumpy in all the wrong places but do I care? Do I heck as like!

Charlie, maybe your Mom is starting a new fashion trend!!! Y'all keep plenty warm!

Hannah and Lucy said...

Mum thinks the rambling gear is that style is because it was designed by some one who looked like the back end of a bus!!
I loved your photo Jenn - my pics today were taken just before Christmas in Thurnby Churchyard - wish I had taken a photo that showed the original Norman church known to have been there in 1143.(the part that shows in the photo is an extension to the church done about 3-4 years ago for meetings).

I hear ya. Nothin fancy about ski boots but what can you do? At least most of the snow has melted 'round these parts:)

Gorgeous path! It's so true about bundling up. That was me while shoveling the other day! My knit hat with the ear flaps is always a nice touch, too.

Glad you are enjoying your holiday!

precious! And poor Charlie. Kitties don't like the cold... That's a beautiful walk to Cambridge. I think the sexy part is undoing the layers, yes? But only if it's done correctly... LOL! :D <3

Even the Michelin man needs a wife!

That is a rather unsexy outfit-do your pants swish together as you walk. I will tell you one thing-I do not feel the need to be sexy in the cold-only warm.

I had to laugh when I was in Canada everywhere you went everyone had a box of kleenex-that and Christmas goodies-even the bank had cookies out.

stay warm friend.

I dunno, there is probably a website out there for folk who like looking at pics of ramblers in rambling gear. Do you want to find it, that is the question? Or be on it - lol!

Enjoy your holiday - did you walk to Cambridge?!

MOL....you always have such interesting posts!!!!!!!

Our mama says she would love to dress like that and go for a walk with you, Jenn.

And us boys would love to go for a walk with the handsome Charlie.

Showers of love to both of you from the 3 of us.

Holiday is good!
It's always better to be warm then it is to be sexy. Go with it! Remember the little breath hitch caused by that commercial? When a distinctly masculing and leather clad person gets off the motorcyle and removes the helmet with a twist of the neck- long flowing hair unfurling in all its glory.
It's sort of like that... only slower.

Maria McKenzie said...

Love your pictures! BTW, I've named you a Versatile Blogger:). Happy New Year!

Marg said...

Our Mom looks like that everyday when it is cold but she doesn't have to worry about being sexy. She is way to old to worry about that. Too many other things to worry about. But you have to stay warm so all those clothes are very necessary. Take care and have a fun day.

The rambling gear might not be so unsexy in michein mans eyes?!!:)

Enjoy your walking!

Glad you're out & about & getting exercise. I have a feeling that Charlie didn't venture very far in all that cold stuff.

Rambling gear is comfortable to wear &, like comfy shoes, doesn't have to look good. It should come in snazzy colors & at least L.L. Bean tries to do that. Here's the link: L.L. Bean

Great pictures! It does look snowy there.

we used to have sexy ski stuff, but that was... you know... the 80s... when everything was sexy (or so we thought)

Margo Berendsen said...

it's so unfair because somehow winter wear does end up looking sexy on my husband!

Thats a beautiful picture in the snow and of course Charlie your picures are always lovely.. Hugs GJ xx

Kitty,
I am so with you...gosh, I am one of the most feminine ladies I know and refuse to even ewar some of it just becuase...UGH!!!

Theresa Milstein said...

When it's cold, glamour should be the first thing to go. It's all about layers and warmth.

I visited Cambridge once in summer. My pictures look quite different.

Stay warm!

Amy & the house of cats said...

They are unsexy in case you, um, hmm, uh, ok, I have no idea. But honestly I think it is worth it to be warm - I will take warm over sexy any day.

And Charlie I think your walk next door sounds much more my speed!

Ellie Garratt said...

We need to see a picture of you! LOL.

Funny! I agree all walking about in winter clothes make one look like the Abominable Snowman.
