Snow flakes settle down
We shiver in winter’s grip
Puddles ice over
We shiver in winter’s grip
Puddles ice over
Trees stand bare and shorn
Plants shrivel from the cold air
Birdsong falls silent
The above haiku attempts are for the lovely Madeleine's Let's Haiku blogfest over at Scribble and Edit! She's got an excellent tutorial on how to Haiku!
Charlie says: I would like to hold a Snack Time blogfest, starting now.
Have a snoring Sunday everyone!
7 oh-my-gosh-really???-days to Christmas!!

No, it's good poetry!
And let me know when Charlie's hosting that food blogfest.
I wish I could write a poem like you do! :) Love it, Old Kitty.
7 days? OMG! It's almost here!!!!
I love the pic and your haikus are wonderful!
And I'm with Charlie, let's have a snack time fest asap!!!
Charlie my friend, I'd have you over for prawn xmas dinner if you weren't so far away!!
Old Kitteh!
:) SEVEN more.... yaay!... actually 6 more for me, my break starts in 6 days!
So busy, gah!
WTG Charlie! It's all about the food.
kitties starving
bellies pinched tight
hungrumblies
It's not haiku, but it's close!
Charlie, you sit waiting so patiently for Christmas to come.
That photo is so postcard like. Lovely!

Haunting, Old Kitty.
You have a knack for this.
Of course Charlie wants a snack Haiku. Food is always on a cat's mind.
Pining for cat treats
A morsel or two will do
Don't delay, okay?
Beautiful haiku, and even more beautiful photo. Is that where you live?
I'm off to rad about how to Haiku immediately.... but perhaps it's all too late for me.
Have a nice day, Boonie
We agree!
Snack Time Blog Fest!!
Well Old Kitty, not all can "haiku" like you.
Oh, is that your view, Jennifer? **Wistful sigh** Such a pretty area in which you live!
I loved your Haiku! We've seen the chaos the weather is causing in various parts of Europe.
Stay safe if you're travelling for Christmas!
The first haiku is a delightful description but the second one has a beautiful yearning depth that is enchanting! And lovely photo!
Nice haikus! I hope you and Charlie are managing to keep warm.
I'm with Charlie - a snacktime blogfest sounds perfect in this cold weather!
We had a stray cat in our warehouse this week. It took us two days to catch him and then he kept me company out the back until the owners turned up. Unfortunately, it wasn't their cat. There is good news, though. Several members of staff want to give him a home. He's ginger and white-haired and very friendly. We're just waiting to hear if anyone comes forward and claims him, and if they don't, he'll definitely have a home by Christmas.
I loved both your Haikus - they are so atmospheric and apt!
Fabulous haiku and I loved the photos. Hey Charlie enjoy snack time and don't forget to add you haiku to the blog hop at http://youknowthatblog.com/ on Weds, the theme for which is Noel. :O)
Beautiful, Old Kitty. Definitely the weekend for some Christmas-y poems. I hope you're keeping safe, warm and cozy this weekend. BRR!
actually I liked the poetry - and the pic. very pretty. inviting.
We like the poem too! Hard to believe it's almost here...Happy Merry Almost Christmas Charlie!
We think your poetry is terrific. Our Mom can't write one word of a poem. Charlie, you have the purrfect idea. You are looking good Mr. Charlie. Take care and have a grand Sunday

I loved the Haiku--really does describe winter only too well!
Is is still snow-covered over there?
I enjoyed the poem too! OK Charlie, let's eat!
Hi there Old Kitty,
Lovely Haiku and photo to go with it. It's so appropriate for this time of year. Yes, I, too, am counting the days to Christmas even though we're snowed in :(
Old Kitty, your haiku is really great. And the photo you included is perfect.
So Charlie wants to get into the act with a blog fest. Sounds pretty good to us.
Thanks for stopping by so regularly.
"The Boys" and I are doing that "oh my gosh how many days till Christmas?" thing, too.
I love poetry :-) Sends everyone to sleep in here though. Ah, sorry, no they are asleep already... :-) Charlie, cookie time my little friend..... :-) x x x
That looks cold. Love the poem.
Wishing you a happy and safe Christmas
Lyn
I didn't think the poetry bad...and isn't it in the eye of the beholder, anyway? :)
I've been thinking I need to give poetry another go. It never was my favorite but I think it would be a good stretching exercise. Thanks for the inspiration.
Have a wonderful week!
kitty so cute <3 <3 <3
I like your haiku and the photo you included reminds me of a Currier and Ives engraving. Perfect!
I wouldn't mind a snack blogfest myself...tell Charlie that I'm always ready for a good snack! :)
I got part of my master's degree in poetry, and I tell you honestly that these haiku are excellent because they are filled with such strong imagery--sight, touch, sound!! Five cheers!!!
Ann Best, Long Journey Home
Lovely Haiku! Thanks for the link, I've never tried writing a Haiku.
I like Charlie's blogfest idea. :)
