Saucy tales

Bloggie friends!!!

There I was thinking I was spreading yummy raspberry jam on my swiss roll cake when half way through I realised it wasn’t raspberry jam.

It was cranberry sauce.

Well the jars were identical!

Anyway, after much squealing, rendering the air blue and manic scraping off of cranberry sauce, I think I’ve managed to rescue this cake.

I was thinking of maybe donating it to my lovely work colleagues. Ahem.

Charlie says: I want to know what happened to the cold white stuff.

Wish me lots of luck bloggie friends, my story submission for 100Stories for Queensland has been long listed! It may still not make it to the anthology though! There's a shortlist to be decided! Oh the torture!!!! :-)

Purrs and hugs to umi_e's Envy and Maximus Spittimus's Bumbles!

Cranberry sauce is usually fairly sweet. Bet it would taste great with a slightly orange-flavored frosting sprinkled with some chopped walnuts or pecans. (Cranberry-orange-walnut anyone?) Bet it ends up tasting just fine!

Good luck on your story!

I once confused shrimp cocktail sauce with ketchup...my fries tasted horrible.

I'm so excited for you at the chance of being in the anthology. You'll make it, Old Kitty! As for cranberry sauce, I enjoy the tart and tangy stuff. Not sure about it on a swiss roll though. I smile at the thought of you turning the air blue;)

Ooh, good luck with your story AND your cake! Looks yummy, cranberry sauce or not, lol! :D

Oh and the cold white stuff? We have about a foot and a half and it just keeps on coming. I'd be happy to ship some your way... :)

I like cranberries. May have been good that way.

Are you referring to those cliquey women perhaps?

YaY for being longlisted!

I might have preferred it with cranberry sauce. I like to use it as spread on my toast.

Congrats on the long list - here's hoping for the short.

Hmm, cran-raspeberry is good. Just saying. :-)

Best of luck with your story, we hope it makes it in to the anthology! When will you know?

Hi Old Kitty! Congratulations on getting on the long list! :)

Does this mean I am going to have to look at everything that comes into work with suspicion?

thats brilliant news, the longlist, not the cranberry!
Well done!

Good luck with your story!

I wonder what your co-workers would have said if you'd just left the swiss roll full of cranberry sauce...

I'd take a piece of that cake regardless if it werefull of raspberry jam or cranberry sauce. It looks so good!

Good luck and fingers crossed that you make the short list for the 100Stories for Queensland book. Such a good cause!

I bet the cranberry sauce wouldn't have been so terribly bad but maybe. Who knows. Good idea to give it to the fellow workers.
Charley, be glad that white stuff is gone.
Keeping our paws crossed that Mom's story gets to the very top of the list. Take care.

Cranberries and raspberries are the same colour so we think your mix up is quite an easy one to make. Well done on getting on the list with your story - we will keep and fingers and pawsies crossed for a good outcome.
Charlie is looking his usual handsome self - he always seems so calm - does he ever have mad moments??

Who's mostly white, warm with love and furry??? Charlie, of course!!!

We are happy to see it is getting warmer.

Hehe ... raspberry, cranberry er.. they are all berries? Should taste the same? Being berry ignorant over berry ... I can only guess?

I am sure your colleagues will be delighted!

Long-listed??
Here's us all purring for a "short-list"!!!
Lots of luck on their way to ya!

*giggles madly* Yeah, not quite the same... though not awful if you had a ginger icing, i think.

Good luck with your story!

You may have stumbled onto a winning recipe. Sometimes goof-ups turn out to be successes.

I've got a raffle going on over at Unwritten. Send Charlie over to win ;)

Oh, no! Cranberry Sauce! I can just picture your work colleagues politely telling you it tasted so nice. LOL.

I'm sending out a cosmic-enhancement-mind-control-ray to the editor of 100 Stories for Queensland. You will choose Kitty's story. You will...

Good luck with your short tale, Kitty! And I think taking the cake to your co-workers is a great idea.

Oh, well, maybe something will happen and your story will make the short list. Oh, wait, that is the good list, isn't it? Or do we have that backward?

Hmmm, cranberry cake. Well, it would have been healthy. :)

Cat and DOG Chat With Caren said...

actually I bet that might have been really good!

Isn't nice when you can pass things off to the people at work? lol

I miss those days!

Ann said...

Nail biting as I wait to hear your news. Tell Charlie we have more than enough of the white stuff, add to that the frigid temps. If he misses it that much...hop on a flight!

I saw this the other day and couldn't comment as I was elsewhere (as ever!) but didn't forget as now I am here, saying a BIG-HUGE-CONGRATs for the longlisted story!! Wow - fab acheivement, and I now have everything crossed (inc eyes) that it gets first to the shortlist, and then to the anthology. Yeay! C'mon short story!
