A Moment's Pause

Bloggie friends!!

My sister who lives with her sons - my gorgeous nephews - near Brisbane, Australia sent me this pic of the flooding near her home, taken 11 Jan at 6.30 am.

By 4.55 pm they were being evacuated by the authorities. They're all ok (PHEW!) and are staying with friends but worried about the home they've left.

Charlie says: So long as they're safe.

Thursday means the weekend is getter closer!

Oh my goodness! My thoughts and prayers for your sister and nevvies. The flooding is incredible, it reminds me of the devastation from hurricane Katrina in New Orleans.

I am so sorry for your sister and family. The positive side is that they are safe, but how stressful to have to deal with that kind of disaster. My thoughts are with them. Charlie, you are a kind-hearted gentleman.

Dear Old Kitty,
I'm sorry to hear that your family had to evacuate but the important thing is that they are safe. Mother Nature likes to scare us from time to time. I'm sure they'll be going back home very soon. My prayers go to all those affected by the flood.

We will keep everyone affected by the floods in our purr-ayers (and any animals that had to be left behind). My Human spent time in Brisbane last year and is hoping that the koalas at Lone Pine are ok (they are right along the river).

I've seen the pics on the news, though I'm sure they don't even come close to reality. I'm glad your sister and her family are okay. All the poor animals, though, Jennifer -- both domestic and wild. :-(

I saw the scary videos of the flooding on TV. My sympathy to your sister. I'm glad she's safe and hope she hasn't suffered much personal loss. Flooding is sooo terrible and leaves such unhealthy moldy air to breath in it's aftermath.
Love and peace, Manzanita

Yikes! That's awful, I'm glad everyone is alright.

Oh Jenn we are so sorry to hear about your sister and her family in the Australian floods - the pictures on the television show such devastation to such a large area. You must all be so worried about them being so far away and not being able to do anything to help them.
Take care - you are in our thoughts.

Gosh, Jen, we sure hope you sister's house will not get flooded too badly.I had heard some about the flooding there, but not a lot. That looks pretty bad in that picture so we are sending lots of prayers that their house will be all right. Like you said, at least they are safe. Take care.

How awful! I've been hearing about this, but I didn't know the cause. Is a river swollen?

I remember crying over the levee break in New Orleans. Water can be so devastating...

(((hugs))) to them. And yes, Charlie would not like the water~ :o) <3

I love Charlie's profile here! The Loyalty Islands has active seismic activity. They had a 7.3 about 4 hours ago and a 5.2 and within the last hour. Is your family okay???
