Bloggie friends!!
So there was my home made pizza dough - that took 2 hours of kneading and proving -all rolled out topped with fresh tomatoes, herbs, lots of garlic and drizzled in extra virgin olive oil when I discover I didn’t have any cheese in my fridge.
So instead I had a type of garlicky bread thing with tomatoes. I call it improvisation!
I would have gone out and bought some cheese but it was 9pm and by then I was very hungry!
On the plus side I submitted a story here and a poem here. My first ones of the year! They won’t get anywhere but hey! It’s a start!
Charlie says: I try to escape the garlic smell.
Monday oh Monday please go away!

ANY pizza sounds good to me - and yours sounds wonderful!
OH my goodness, how disappointing not to have cheese after all that work! UGH! I clicked on the contests..l have you done many? I haven't but those look interesting!
Well done with the pizza improv! It sounded really good despite the missing cheese. Charlie is so handsome. How does he always manage to have good hair . . .err, fur days? Let's just skip Monday and go straight for Tuesday!
Stuff happens, but all the other things sound good baked together.
The story and poem just MIGHT go somewhere. Jen and I are rooting for you!!
I would have done cheese without pizza, too, being tired. And here it is very cold for going out. Is it cold there?
Sounds like a good solution. It would be too bad to let all that work on the crust go to waste. Sorry Charlie doesn't like garlic.
Great. Now I am STARVING! Seriously, that pizza sounds amazing! Must improvise more often...
Best of luck with your story and poem!! Think positive!!!! :D
Who needs cheese? I've even seen salad pizzas. Good improv!
I'll come back tomorrow to check out the stories. I'm getting ready for bed!
Good luck with your first stories of the year.
Pizza without cheese? Wow. I'm impressed that you'd bake your crust from scratch. I'm just too plain lazy.
Love viewing your blog with the many funny faces. Charlie is typically smart. Happy Monday.
Was that a kind of bruschetta in the end then?
Cats don't seem to like the smell of garlic or onions, I suppose because it's bad for them. Poor Charlie!
Nothing wrong with garlicky bread thing! Best of luck with the story and poem.
Best of luck in the writing competitions! And kudos for entering. :-)
BTW, I think you were very resourceful with the pizza dough and I bet it was yummy anyway.
Must admit I laughed at your cheeseless pizza meal - sounds very me!! We understand Charlie trying to get out - he probably thought he was going to get told off for not reminding you you needed cheese!!
We are hoping that you get your story and/or poem printed - do we get to read them??
Hi, I'm new to your blog - I found you through Margo's posts. Pleased to meet you.
I really think some of the best meals are the improvised ones. Not always though, I once made sardines and black bean sauce. The sardines had been tinned in brine. My only excuse is that it was the only food in the house at the time. The whole thing was inedible. It's one of the very few occssions in my life when I've thrown food away.
Congratulations on all your creativity espec the pizza making.
Good luck with your submissions, fingers crossed for you.
I think it's great you submitted a story and a poem, even with no cheese!
Where's your music Top Ten List? Surely Charlie likes the Meow Mix song from the commercial. Catchy tune. Meow meow meow meow meow meow meow.
Well that sounds pretty good even without cheese. That sounds like something our Mom would do. Glad you got a story done. Good for you. Take care and have a fun day.
Sounds yummy even without cheese - garlic is good for you Charlie - don't run!

Your garlicky bread thing sounds really good to our mama.
We will check out your story and poem.
Another totally handsome picture of you, sweet Charlie.

Kudos to you submitting your story and your poem. I hope they do go somewhere.
Oh no, no cheese?? Such a tragedy!!
I agree with Charlie--go away, Monday!
Your dinner sounds delicious! Go ahead and put garlic breath all over Charlie, he'll love it!
heh heh.
Excuse me - won't go anywhere? Now that is not the attitude!
p.s.Garlic is good for you Charlie!
p.p.s Can I have two to go? Extra tomato please.
C'mon Charlie, it's not so bad! I think the bread garlic tomato thing sounds lovely - like focaccia. Oh boy, now I'm hungry. :)
And good luck, good luck with the story and the poem! It is a great start to the year - be positive! I shall cross fingers for you (which nicely accounts for any typos, heehee).
Ha! I bet it was still good! I woulda been sad, but only for a little bit...
LOL at Charlie! :D And best of luck with your submissions!!! Can't wait to hear the good news~ :o) <3
Yummmmmmmmmmm your pizza sounded delicious!!! I would just look at it as a way to save calories without the cheese! :)
Right now a garlicky bread thing sounds pretty tasty!
Good luck with your submissions.
Good luck with the poem and the story. Fingers and toes crossed :O)
LOL, love the pic of Charlie and the caption! That's too funny.
Homemade pizza is a favorite of mine, but yours sounds like it was a lot of work - I have a great dough recipe that rises in 1/2 hr and "only" takes 5 minutes of kneading (that 5 minutes is still rough on hungry impatient me) if you want it. :)
The anthology and contest you entered look awesome - it's a very cool idea to not only get yourself in print, but help others at the same time! You're such a sweet person! Good luck with both!
Italians call the bread you described (with just tomatoes, herbs and a drizzle of live oil on top) "focaccia"! It is just as delicious as pizza!
Good luck with both submissions!
Home made yum yum. I bet you enjoyed even without the cheese. Good luck with the poem and story. I think you will do well.. Hugs GJ xx
Oh dear, you do need cheese! Cheese makes life worth living. Still, as long as you had garlic...
It sounds like it was quite tasty, even without the cheese! :)
The 100 stories for Queensland is such a good idea--putting together an anthology to help survivors!
Mmmm, still sounds delicious! :)

Your improvisation sounds pretty tasty. One advantage in being married to a vegatarian gourmet, is that our fridge is never out of cheese. As for your submissions, think positive! I enjoy your writing.
