Bloggie friends !!!!
photo creditOne of my favourite writerly method is to keep a scrapbook of images of places, faces, etc to create a visual representation of my fictionalised world.
The above is the delectable Barbara Stanwyk.
Thank you so much for reading my blogfest entry - I really appreciate it!!! Thank you Summer Ross for the opportunity!
Charlie says: While you blather on about this and that, I play with my string!
Happy Thursday everyone!

Cool! And Charlie is getting a lot of mileage out of that string.
Barbara Stanwyk was one classy lady. So are you!
You are most welcome. Great idea keeping pictures to help remind yourself!
A very interesting method. All I need is a bit of ambient music and some treasured memories to put me in the mood to formulate my rubbish writing.
In peace and an extra piece of string for Charlie, your way, Gary :-)
I love how they used to make up and photograph women. They emphasized all the good and deemphasized the not-so-good. Look at the shadows and angles. I wish I had professional hair and makeup along with expert photographers. I still wouldn't look like her, but maybe the could sculpt some cheekbones with highlighter and shading.
I'll have to request this in my book contract. I need the works!
Oh Charlie, you are so delightful!
and Kitty, I'm with you, the old pictures are so elegant and luring...
Hey! Thanks for reading my story and the POV thing. I wondered how to do that bit. I think I might see what our local college has for classes. Now that I've started the ideas are running rampant! Essays, more Lounge stories...it won't stop! You have inspired me mightily, THANK YOU!!!
xx trish
Charlie does love his string. I love the idea of scrapbooks of images. I love scrapbooking anything.
happy thursday and happy new year, kitty and charlie! thanks ever so much for caring about the birds falling from the sky over here. we are very sad about it...
How neat! Love that idea. Like your blog, and I'm following now :)
OMGoodness she is beautiful! When you look back at those old black and whites everyone looks elegant...
Happy New Year, Jennifer!
Charlie, I LOVE the String ! Love ! Love it
Most of my little toys have to tie with string. It made simple thing more fun ! because my human have to play with me : )

I really had forgotten how beautiful Barbara was.
Not that girls aren't pretty anymore - there are some real beauties out there - but I agree with my dad; the beauty pageants (and modeling agencies) aren't turning out the same quality of exotic and grace that a 1940's star acquired.
........dhole
I had no idea who she was from your blog fest post, so I'm glad you posted a pic! She has a great face to write about, pretty but interesting. I prefer interesting in a face myself!
So, came over here to answer your question - not a lot is explained about "the vespertine" in the book (I hope there's more in the next) but vespers is the Latin word for evening and Amelia only has her visions at night. So the book also taught me something new, because I'd never heard of vespers before, personally!
Charlie we see you like to play with string like we both do too. Yours is a nice bright colour - ours is just - well - hmm .... thinking.... string colour!!
Mum is trying hard to think about an actress but thinks she likes Lauren Bacall the best.
I remember Barbara Stanwyk. She was a very good actress. What a great picture. Charlie, keep that string busy. We like your handsome friend too right outside your door. Take care.
She was lovely, wasn't she?
Mom and Dad used to have a THICK book of black and white Hollywood photos--portraits--and I loved looking through it over and over again as a child.
I was named for Kim Novak, actually. Or so I've been told. Dad had a thing for her, I guess. LOL. Too bad I never was a glamourous and gorgeous as she was, though! :-)
Happy Thursday!
The scrapbook idea is a good one. I'm using my current desktop picture as inspiration at the moment!
I also keep things that inspire me, although at the moment everything is in a right two-and-eight. :)
Who needs other toys when you have string?
Actually I think that's a great idea with the visuals, and it works for strings too!
Wow!! I never knew that she looked THAT good!
I only remember her with white or blonde hair (whatever it was!)
(((((hugs)))) to you and Charlie! xoxo
MOL.....Charlie you are a hoot.....but a very handsome and special hoot. We love you and your mum so very much.
And, of course, we love all your mum's writings.
I sometimes I wish I were a cat. I'd love to be so amused with something as simple as string.
I find it so interesting how some people are so visual. I occasionally get an image, but usually nothing is clear until I know the characters better.
Good to see you this new year! That;s a great strategy, by the way. I've done it some with each manuscript, but I don't have the patience to look very long because I can never seem to find the images that fit exactly what's in my head.
Hey there, Charlie! Looking cute as ever!
I thought that Barbara Stanwyk was blonde.
Did Charlie graduate from ribbon to a sturdier string? Great toy for cats & keeps 'em busy for minutes at a time! :)
Gracious for one minute I thought this was you! well, it couldn't be Charlie. I've been away for a few weeks so haven't been following all my fave blogs you see :)
Happy new year!
Charlie. :D And what a great photo of her!
I like pictures like that where the person is thinking something and you can almost imagine what it is and then go from there... I do that all the time.
Good one~ :o) <3
That Charlie is just too dang cute! :-)
Yay for scrapbook images to inspire your writing! ;)
That's a gorgeous pic btw.
Charlie, Charlie, how old are you getting that you don't notice a beautiful woman anymore?
CD
Barbara Stanwyk is such a classic beauty.
I've just caught up on your posts of late. Loved them all. Hope you've recovered from the dentist appointment, and I found the blogfest entry fascinating. Charlie looks as handsome as always! Happy 6th of January, Kitty!
That's a great picture!
Charlie's so cute with the string. :)
OH Charlie
We think you are all the inspiration needed...although Barbara Stanwyk is a very classy lady.
