My nth attempt at loading a YouTube thing. :-) And other writerly things.

To keep within the theme of the winter weather, here is Snow Business, parts 1 & 2.

I waited a LONG time for part 2 and here is the ever wonderful and ever lovely Simon's cat.

Before any of you go "Lordy not another kitty thingie" just think - it takes Simon forever to create a 2 minute cartoon sequence AND he has to create a story too. And if that isn't writer-ly I don't know what is!

Oh and if you really, really want a writer-ly fill, I found this piece from the BBC Writer's Room. It may be concerned with scriptwriting but I think the topic discussed here goes to the very heart of writing, i.e. just how many minutes - oh ok - hours- do writers spend a day actually writing?

I heart Simon's cat :) I actually love the kitty so much that I got the chance to interview Simon Tofield one time. It was really fun. Here is the interview. Enjoy :) http://lovemeow.com/2009/12/special-interview-with-simons-cat-simon-tofield/

What a mean bird! I'm glad you posted it.

Just writing my blog takes a couple of hours. For two pages of writing on Microsoft Word, finding a quote, and editing, it's a big chunk of time. If I count the other writing and editing I do in a day, it's like a full-time job without pay.

That was FABULOUS! The boys were very interested in the bird sounds, too. :-D

First puns and now kitty cartoons - I love your blog, it makes me laugh!

I'm a Simon's Cat fan too.

An hour a day is a sensible starting point (I keep thinking of advice on getting fit for some reason - you know, "small changes"?!)

Writing something every day doesn't phase me - it's the improvement and editing stage I fall down at. My incomplete and abandoned drafts are all over the place. I can churn out words for England because I spent eight years as a copywriter. Making it into readable fiction involves quite a different set of challenges.

Simon's Cat is *amazing*! There's also a (surprisingly substantial) book of spinoff cartoons that I bought three different copies of as Christmas gifts for people. (That artist could be the next [creator of Garfield whose name I can't remember] if he's got the commercial nous...))

Hi umi_e

You're welcome! Glad you liked it - I do hope he does some more - they really are a labour of love for him and so it takes him forever to finish one little film.

Hi Kim

Really??! Wow! From the interview I saw of Simon on the BBC he says he does all the voices and sounds himself - so he did a pretty good job with the birds sounds! LOL!

And also because your beatiful furry boys are super intelligent too!

:-)

Hi Susan Fields

Awww thank you! I do like my nephew's punny puns - when he was littler than 14 that's how he chose to talk - he'd turn everything you said into a pun! Which makes me laugh but drives my sister crazy!

Oh and you really can't go wrong with Simon's cat series - they're brilliant!

Take care

hi Kate M

Yes, since I've been heavily blogging I've noticed that one thing writers find time-consuming and completely stressful is the editing side! Always, always!

I like the realistic view of the BBC blogger - 20 minutes including YouTube watching. So, so true in my case! LOL!
