Like an apple itself, delicous bite by bite, line by line, till the crunch at the end. The rising tension was so well worked into the story. Thanks for posting the link. excellant writing - congratulations on your well deserved win!
The sunflowers are lovely as Charlie is handsome. :)
Charlie is looking very floofilicious in his picture - we like the sunflowers but feel Charlie' picture is better.
Mum is going to read your story to us now.
your blog posts make me smile every single time I read them :) And with each post entry I regret more and more the fact that I'm allergic to cats! :(
Those sunflowers are terrific. And poor Charlie had to close his eyes from the flashy thing. But Charlie you do look terrific. Have a good day.
You blinded charlie with your brilliance.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading both your stories, Jenny. Wow. Your writing rocks!
I loved, loved, loved them both! Congratulations! I knew there was something not quite right about that lovely green-eyed lady... :)
Very nice story, Jenny! And sunflowers always cheer me up, too, though my VERY favorite sunflower image was an ambitious squirrel backing up a tree, dragging a whole sunflower head *snicker*
Happy World Cat Day!

Hi Jenny, just read your story - very clever! Tempting Eve, the apple - I didn't see it coming until the end, which is the whole point of a short story. And you had some lovely turns of phrase (turns of phrases?!) - I can see you'll be getting top prize in no time at all. Fab! Ginger and Abigail send sympathies to Charlie as well, they too have an owner who can be a bit trigger happy with her flash. :)
LOL, I think Charlie is a sweetie! <3
What a beautiful path to walk on your way to the train. I have nothing quite so lovely.
Congrats on the runner up win as well!
Charlie always brightens my days! :)
I love it how you have to read the story till the end till things start to fall into places all at once :)

Apples--Who would think they would think they could inspire a story? OH WAIT!!! Dr. Suess....Nice job, Friend....
Sunflowers and daffodils brighten any day.
Congrats on placing. Well done.
Clap, clap, clapping.
That's a wonderful story - full of colour and well shaped - a real sunflower of a story!
I liked the way that the ending felt like the start of another story.
I reckon you should have won first prize.Well done!
Funny twist at the end! I'd appreciate it even more than most. You really set the scene well. I could picture them, the neighborhood. Just enough backstory. Well done!
I wonder why he was staring intently at the apples.
Love the sunflowers. They always make me so happy.
Two stories! Congrats!!! Thanks for the lovely sunflower pictures--my kids are wanting to pick every one they see around here.

I just read the story & was really taken w/ how well you do dialogue & I really got a feeling for the greengrocers! The twist at the end was so cute & made me laugh.
You're a very talented writer & I look forward to reading more short stories.
Now Charlie, you keep encouraging her to write, ok? :)
We are going to let our Mom read your story (our reading skills aren't that great), but we're sure she'll enjoy it!
Charlie, we understand how awful it is to have the flash right in your face, but you managed to remain calm and handsome. Well done!
