Shaken and stirred

Bloggie friends!

According to this survey, half of people in the UK will "hide" with a quarter "switching off their lights" to avoid trick or treaters during Halloween night. LOL! Oh dear. I'm very sorry to say that will be me come Wednesday!

Charlie says: I just try and hide from this intruder!

Awwww but please have a great Halloween all of you celebrating it.

Also if you are joining NaNoWriMo (write a novel in 30 days starting 1 Nov, details here) - I wish you all the best!

I won't be blogging come next Monday (Bonfire Night) because.......

I SHALL BE HAVING A DAY OF (James) BOND!! Yes!! I am off to drool over the lovely Daniel Craig in Skyfall! I hope to be shaken AND stirred...

See you all soon, hopefully by 12 November.

No one even goes out trick-or-treating in my neighborhood, so I don't feel bad leaving the light off.
Go drool over your Daniel Craig!

Well, you both deserve lots of treats!

Hehe Gumtree seems to be wondering just what Charlie is up to there. The lights are rarely ever on downstairs so I don't think we need to worry too much about trick or treaters. It's not that we're hiding, it's just that no one goes downstairs.

We'll be in hiding too on Howl-O-Weenie! Too much scary stuff to deal with.

we don't have to hide, we don't have any kids in our neighborhood.

When I did live an area with kids, we gave out candy - and some kids silly stringed out screens and cars.. So I stopped.

Okay, call me dense, but I didn't even know you did the whole trick-or-treating thing in the UK! Thought it was just us greedy Americans.;)

I shall be out with my kiddos that night.

Enjoy your vacation! :)

Gumtree is growing like a weed! Hide Charlie, hide!!!

Hi Old Kitty - it can all get a bit silly can't it .. Charlie I see is still adjusting ..

Enjoy the new Bond - I'll be toddling off to the local cinema once half-term is over and I might be able to get a ticket! But have fun - it sounds just great ...

Cheers - Hilary

*swoon* for Daniel Craig. Such a visual treat. Le sigh.

That's so funny so many avoid the halloween fun. But understandable too. We don't hand out candy cuz we take the kids out to beg for it. lol
This year they are a ringwraith and a ballerina. lol

Have a great week!! :D

We laughed at Charlie wishing he could get away from Gumtree - we bet he loves him really and is just making a token grumble about him. Enjoy your 007 day next week.

Mmmm, Daniel Craig...Yes, definitely drool. :-)

I, admittedly, also will be one of those with the lights off, hiding on Halloween night. LOL. I used to give out candy quite some years back, but don't do it now, for various reasons.

Have a lovely week!

We hide after 8:00. That's when the uncostumed, snarky teens stop by who don't belong to our neighborhood. Eep!

Enjoy the movie. I'm looking forward to it as is wifey.

Hi Old Kitty,

Have fun with Daniel Craig, nee Bond. And good luck hiding from those trick or treaters. :)

Hugs!

Hiding from trick-or-treaters? Oh no, we welcome them here! :-)

Seville at Nerissa's Life said...

Yeah... we're not allowed near the front door on Hallowe'en night, either. But after the neighbourhood kids have finished with their tricky treatin' we'll be enjoying some treats outselves! FF or a little of the special stuff in the trays, I do believe... purrs

Hart Johnson said...

We have people on our street who do that and it makes me mad. We are at the top of the last street in a neighborhood and if they turn off their darned lights, then very few kids come up the street to our house and WE want to see them!!! Slowly, though, the neighborhood is turning over--older people leaving and younger moving in, so I hope this is changing, too.

Talli Roland said...

Haha! Now why doesn't that surprise me... Luckily in central London, we don't get any trick or treaters!

Enjoy Bond.

Helena said...

Hope Charlie keeps you safe on Halloween from all those intruders! And may you be both shaken and stirred by Daniel Craig. Skyfall looks fantastic!

Linda Kage said...

ooh, ooh, tell us all about how well Skyfall was. I do love Daniel***sigh***

It doesn't matter if I turn my lights off, my cousin and sister still bring their kids over! But they're okay, so I guess it's all okay!

No trick or treaters for you? Oh, Old Kitty, you're missing out on the fun! I suppose that means you're not dressing up either. Well, have a nice home hang out with your lovely kitties.

Tamago said...

Hahaha we will be hiding, too! Especially for Niko, he is extremely scared of door bell.
I hope you will enjoy new James Bond movie. We might be going to see, too.

Here's to James Bond! Enjoy!

I'm back from my very restful blogging break just in time to think about costumes and candy. Tell Charlie I might go as a cat this year.

KarenMcG said...

Oh, Jennifer, have a great time with Daniel! Sounds like fun.

And tell Charlie that little "introooder" will eventually settle down to his liking.

We still have neighborhood kids and I love seeing them and guessing who is who. We've never had a problem with mean pranks. Besides, if I keep all this candy, I'll weigh 200 pounds! ha.

Your kitties are so cute.

I can't wait to see Daniel Craig as Bond again.

I'm not fond of trick or treaters, but I bought candy for them this year.

Saku said...

It's supposed to be near freezing on Halloween night so that will reduce the number of trick or treaters. Last year we had about 60 so I've bought for 100...because I need treats too, lol

Charlie and Gumtree look good together.

Enjoy your Bond movie.

mshatch said...

Ooh lucky you! I'm looking forward to that movie - and Daniel Craig ;)

Charlie doesn't look especially pleased with his new roommate.

Good Luck!

I'm with you--and Charlie! I will leave my porch lights out Wednesday evening. The last thing I want is the neighborhood kids at my door....

Not too many kids in our apartment complex, so I'm not worried about it. Hope you have a great James Bond day!

fairyhedgehog said...

Ooh, do have loads of fun!

For Halloween we always put all our lights on and a sign on the gatepost to say "treat seekers welcome". I love seeing all the local kids in their costumes but we do get through a lot of mini chocolate bars!

Carol Kilgore said...

We have a lot of mini-trick or treaters, so we always have fun. I hope you get shaken and stirred, too!

Halloween will be very different this year in NYC because of storm damage, but I hope the children get to celebrate it one way or another. I always had such fun on "trick or treat" as a child as i love candy! ;)

Enjoy the james Bond film--it sounds really good!

klahanie said...

Hi Old Kitty,

Since I moved back to England, I have never had any trick or treaters visit my house. That's a shame. Still, the good news is all the treats I had for the little visitors are mine, I tell you, all mine!

Can you keep this a secret? Yes, I have been asked to take on the role of James Bond in an upcoming movie. Gosh! :)

Take care, y'all

Yay for Bond and Istanbul!

I don't think we're giving out candy this year - all that doorbell ringing confuses the kitties :-)

I don't think we'll be giving out candy this Halloween but I'm ok with that.

More for me.

We'll be darkened, too..

Hope our friends to the south can still celebrate Halloween without too many more scares!

Hugs,
Tom

Bossy Betty said...

I will be teaching tonight. No treats. All tricks. Maybe I will get candy for myself and then go ring my own doorbell. What do you think?

Katie Isabella said...

Daniel Craig is VERY drool worthy my mom says.

Mom said she has never cared about Halloween since she was in the single digit age group. She always has her lights off and never encourages Trick or Treaters. She had to when her own three sons were small and insisted on going about but since they are grown, mom said "no."

We don't hide, but we get very few trick-or-treaters. That means lots of leftover chocolate! : )

We don't actually have Halloween here, only at the restaurant~~~

But, I wish you have a great day.

We had decorations outside but Teri didn't bring the human sized lite up cat in a pumpkin down from the attic cuz of the storm...and then she ran errands til 8pm and missed all the Trick or Treaters...

Sharon K. Mayhew said...

We at least a hundred kids trick or treating. My husband really enjoys seeing all the little ones in costumes. So I got to kick back and let him do all the door running. :)

Does Charlies have a new brother???

Lynda R Young as Elle Cardy said...

lol! I thought of doing that this year, because last year was the first year the kids in my street dressed up and went door knocking. I was prepared then but I wasn't prepared this year... but it turns out none came anyway. Maybe they knew... ;)

Enjoy James Bond!

We didn't celebrate Halloween at all. Well, not yet anyway! We don't do the trick or treat thing on the day of Halloween for some reason so we have time to buy candy on the cheap (it all goes for 1/2 price after the big day) and an outfit for me just in time for Saturday's trick or treating! Yeah!
XOXO....Daisy

The kitties are perplexed by the idea of Hallowe'en.

"I owe you an unpleasant catnip treat, Mr. Bond... I mean, Mr. Charlie..."

D..J. Kirkby said...

We celebrate Hallowe'en because I lived in Canada for half my life. I completely understand those that don't 'get it' though and everyone should be able to choose to hide in their homes whenever they wish.
