Gadget Girl!

Bloggie friends!

Wasn't that a great Olympian fortnight! Roll on the Paralympics! Yay!

Now last weekend, I tested some gadgets!

1) iPad - I give this 3/5 stars! It was easy to use with super duper wireless connectivity but overall it was a heavy enjoyable very expensive TOY! Can't even write a story on it! LOL! This was borrowed from work so back it goes.

2) Nespresso coffee maker - I give this 10 gazillion stars out of 5! I LOVE MY NESPRESSO coffee maker! It makes gorgeous coffee and froths milk! And the best bit - I got it for free!! A work colleague had it for 6 months and decided she didn't want it anymore. So I got it!

Charlie says: I upgrade your pc by adding some ears.

Have a great week everyone!

Kitty! Download an app called Pages. It acts as a Word program and you can download it directly into Word. Then you can write on the iPad. (Which I do all the time.)
Great shot of Charlie!

The IPad takes some getting used to but is a handy toy to have.

I have a Keurig Coffee maker...perhpas the next one will be a Nespresso based on your review ;)

Shhhh! Charlie is hiding! You can't see him! :-) I like the size of my Kindle Fire with its books, movies, music that I can play even without internet.

I, like you, do love my gadgets! Go, Go, Gadget! LOL.

I've tried out an iPad as well. It's not for me but my husband loves his. And I'm not even tempted to borrow it!

I love my ipad! I got it as a gift, otherwise I was never gonna own it...it sure is expensive toy. My boys enjoy iPad games sometimes :-)
I've never heard of nespresso coffee maker, but it sounds fantastic! How lucky you are to get it for free!

hey, I want ears for my computer!! :)

Awwww Charlie!!!! Look at your double ears!!! it's double pretty :) Glad to see you up and running!!!

We think we would like a nice coffee maker over an i-pad too!!!

Saku said...

I'm with you on the Ipad...neat little gadget but too limited for my use.

The coffee machine looks and sounds terrific. I have a Keurig which makes single cup of coffee but no foaming milk. I don't use it a lot because rarely is one cup of coffee enough, LOL!

I LOVE my iPad, but in terms of helping me as a writer? 0/5 stars. I can't read my agent's notes in mark-up, and the keyboard and Word apps are very user UNfriendly.

hahahah I LOVE that last photo!!
And I don't blame you re the ipad. I can't get into it either.

Interesting! I love my iPad despite its huge shortcomings (no USB or SD card slot, no cursor control keys, dependency on iTunes). Great for playing games and reading though ...

Coffee maker looks great - but does it make strong coffee? Or is it one of those machines that has premeasured doses? There's never enough in them for me!

Anonymous said...

LOL! Yes others have said the iPad is just an expensive toy, too.

Nespresso? oooh ooh I WANT one!

Charlie is a clever cat with handsome ears at that!

Jennifer Shirk said...

Nespresso, huh? I'd like one of those!!

Hannah and Lucy said...

Charlie you look so handsome today - Hannah is quite overcome with your handsomeness. Mum wondered if you had made a full recovery from your dental work.
Well done for your feebie Jenn!

I would take the coffee maker over the iPad any day. LOL. Good for you, great freebie!

The Paralympics are hardly covered here, which I find unfortunate. It's like we only care about athletes if they have all limbs.

But did you see the South African runner who was born without his femur bones and who has prosthetic legs from the knee down? I saw a clip where he had said he wanted to make it to the semi-finals of his event, and he did. He came last--I saw it--but it was AMAZING. A great break-through, IMO, for athletes. And I'm sure he'll clean up in the Paralympics!

Dat is an expensive toy! You nose how many boxes of tweets I can get fur da cost of one of dem??

Da coffee maker is nice, but weenies don't dwink coffee! Do it make pee-nut butter smoodies?

Lexi said...

I hardly ever drink coffee, but I'd give that machine house room just for its stylish looks. Lucky you :o)

I must say that I love my IPAD but use it more for travelling than anything else. It was a present. Many lawyers use it for work-I am not yet there. I think Charlie ears are the ticket.

Hmmmm...I am happy to see your review of the iPad....I keep thinking of getting one and if you can't write on it, what's the point?
Thank you!!

I LOVED watching the Olympics, and London was the perfect host. Very inspiring and moving.

The scary thing about new tech toys is that they come out so often whatever I might buy is already a dinosaur. But yay for your new free coffee maker.

And Mommy says she'll give that Nespresso 100 stars!

Charlie's ears are the best gadget yet!

I am with you on iPads. A cheap net book kills them hands down in terms of work rather than gimmick.

I love how Charlie trumped all of your gadgets by simply adding ears to your computer monitor! Very cute!

Dolly Pepper is very excited that you thought she was gorgeous! She is simply loving her new found fame!

Golden Eagle said...

Never used an iPad, but I'd wondered if you could write in one. Interesting.

Sounds like a good coffee maker!

I love the picture of Charlie's ears above the computer monitor. :)

ANGEL ABBYGRACE said...

I've got to tell you I love my iPad. Love it. I wouldn't want it to write on but for ease of use and all it can do. I love it. I will have to check out the App that was recommended. As for the coffee maker I have a Keurig too and I LOVE it, let the angels sing. Both of these devices I love love love and Charlie we love you too ears and all.

really? the ipad can't even write? what good is that?

I'd go with the frothy nespresso machine thingy, too :)

I love my iPad, but I think I need a bulky keyboard to get everything out of it--my laptop will do for real work.

That's great about the coffee machine. :)

Hi Old Kitty - love the ears ... Charlie has his heart in the right place - in the middle of your screen and life!!

I'm taking your ipad comments on board .. for now - and others' comments I shall read through ..

Coffee maker sounds delicious - enjoy all those coffees .... cheers Hilary

The Nespresso coffee maker is great! And free! :)

penandpaints said...

Woo! What a great freebie! I got a coffee machine at christmas and I love it, frothy milk for the win!
It isn't a fancy nespresso though, you lucky girl :)
As for the ipad, I gave it some thought a while back (phone company offering a deal) but decided it wouldn't get used, nice, but not much use in reality methinks.
Happy frothing!!
xx

I've been looking at one of those coffee makers. If it is as awesome as you say I may have to go ahead and get one.

You can get an external bluetooth keyboard that works on the iPad which makes it easier to write on.
By the way, I wrote a story on Jennifer Schuble who is a cyclist from Alabama.
I hope she does well in the Paralympics.
Take care.

I LOVE my Nespresso! YaY for Nespressos!

I used one when my husband and I stayed with friends in Paris about 5 years ago. A couple of years later, we finally bought one.

Glad to see you're getting so tech.

www.shelter-cats.com said...

Good looking Nespresso machine- but the cat ears on the computer is a brilliant idea. Much better than rabbit ears!

LTM said...

oh, and I SUPER jealous of your cool coffee machine! But you are so right about that iPad. I got a refurb Kindle Fire, and even that to me felt like an extravagance. It's just like you said--high-priced toy. :o)

But toys can be good! <3

Patsy said...

How great to be able to try these gadgets for free. Until we get our paws on the tech it's hard to tell if we'll get on with it.

Hilary said...

oh charlie... you are such a handsome man.... big hugs!

Janice said...

I'm with you on both counts, Kitty. I much prefer using my light laptop to using a 'pad' - and most of the functions I need while 'on the go' I can get on my iphone. So I happily handed over the pad to my dh. My coffee machine however is a keeper!
