Perusing for a bruising

Bloggie friends!!

Whilst perusing job vacancies, I came across this ad that specified:

“The normal working hours are from 9am to 5.24pm, Monday to Friday”

5.24pm? A misprint, surely!??!

Charlie says: Don’t call me Shirley!

Pic taken 25/08/12.

p.s. I am on semi-holiday so am most sporadic with my blogging at the moment! So do forgive if I don’t visit often!

p.p.s.Have a great week everyone!

The Paralympics start in two days' time!! Yay!

5:24 - how funny! Whoever wrote it must have been thinking about something else at the time.

Have a great semi-holiday!

Not necessarily. My hours of work are 8:30am - 4:51pm.

Mark said...

Well enjoy your semi-holiday :) Those are some incredibly specific work hours too.

Have a fine time! Will you return on 01 Sept 12 at 3:48 pm?

LOL
Well maybe it's 5.30 but they get so fed up with people packing up at 5.24 they just say 5.24 now!!!

Thankyou for your kind comment for Scooter, 19 years young and still full of purrs, still hugging his mousie, and still enjoying chinny rubs.

I love your pusscat photo's. Scooter can't roll right over and be 'belly up' any more, I think it hurts his back (even with memory foam cuchions underneath him!) but I love it when he rolls slightly, so I can see his belly hair, and I love it when he sleeps on his brains!

That sure is a strange quitting time! Great photo Charlie!

Yikes! I couldn't work for an employer that anal about time.

Wait, I don't want to work at all...

Charlie seems to be smiling!

Enjoy your semi-holiday! :)

That ad is hilarious! I wonder what happens if you leave at 5:23??? :)

If the "normal" working hours are from 9AM to 5.24PM, then I've been working such "un-normal" hours!

Charlie, you're as lovely as always ♥

That time seems very specific!

I'm gla dyou are on holiday, Jenn--enjoy it and give Charlie some extra loving!

I bet that 5:24 is accurate -- employers can sometimes be eccentric.

Have a great semi-holiday! Looks like Charlie is already in full holiday mode.

That is very precise!
Big hugs for Charlie xx

Mommy kept looking at the keyboard to see how 5:24pm could have come up and found nothing. Sounds silly and it probably is, but 5:24 sounds like "not easy to die" in chinese. Hahaha.

I moved to Atlanta, GA to work the paralympics in 1996, but my job was all consuming and I never made it. I hope you enjoy!

DWei said...

That's a pretty specific time to be done work. :P

Fuzzy Tales said...

How odd! I hope it was a misprint too--lol.

Are you job-hunting? Or do you just check ads for the heck of it? I always look at our HR site every Friday, when they do the job postings. Not to move--I'd never find a more lenient boss (!)--but to see what vacancies are open, who's leaving, etc. That's the only way I find out anything, no one tells me a thing. LOL.

Enjoy your "semi-holiday." I'm so close to chucking the CB altogether that this break is fabulous. I'll see how I feel after Dad's visit. Better to step back for a while, I guess, than to burn bridges. :-)

Smooches to wonderful Charlie--how's he doing?

OBviously the man has a liking for the number 24. That's funny though.

Hopes you had a nice weekend. We have hard rain right now from Hurry-Cane I-Sick. Think I'll just go back to bed!

Charlie you look very relaxed - do you help Jenn with her blogging and tell her if she's hit a wrong key?
I once worked at a company where the electrical engineers finished at 5.19 p.m. - the clerical staff at 5.30 p.m. I never could understand it! Still that's bosses for you!

LTM said...

"Don't call me Shirley"! We love that line!!! And that ad is hilarious. Now I'm trying to imagine all the scenarios that would make one have to stay 24 extra minutes... What type of job is it?

Scratches to Charlie! <3

Theresa Milstein said...

You gotta like a job that doesn't expect overtime. When you're done at 5:24 pm, you're done.

That line from Airplane is up there with, "I speak jive."

Beautiful picture of your anti-muse Charlie. Charlie, you must move so she can type more of her wonderful stories.

Rene said...

Wow, I sure hope that was a typo. Love the Airplane reference. :-)

9 to 5:24? I would love to know if it's a misprint or serious!! Well maybe the person who ran the ad is very very punctual :-)
Charlie, you lool very comfy and cute there. I hope you have a great new week!

Carol Kilgore said...

If it was actually, for-real, 5.24 ... I know I could never work for that company. Can you imagine!

Connie - Tails from the Foster Kittens said...

Not necessarily a misprint. Maybe the person in charge has major OCD and wanted to "warn" people upfront that little things like that matter.. some people love that sort of stuff some can't stand it

What?? 5:24 pm???? That is hilarious!!

Oh and Charlie I won't call you "Shirley" MOL!!!!

5:24 PM. Now, of course, we have to know the reason!

Charlie looks, as always, quite content....

5:24 on the dot sounds mysterious. Hmmm....

In that pic it looks like Charlie is coming between you and commenting. ;)

fairyhedgehog said...

5.24 is six minutes shy of 5.30, so over a week that's half an hour less than if you worked till 5.30 every day.

It does seem a very odd way to get the right number of hours, though. You'd get the same effect by working Mon - Thu 9 - 5.30 and Fri 9 - 5. Odd.

Jay Paoloni said...

No misprint, some people are very picky and fastidious about time.
Say hi to Shir... Charlie

Charlie, you look so comfy there...that tummy is looking mighty fine.

5:24!!!! That's insane.

I was wondering when the paraolympics were starting. I thought they had already started. That explains why there has been no news coverage.

Enjoy your semi-holiday. It appears Charlie is enjoying himself immensely.

5:24...that is likely their excuse for not being there when one shows up at 5:30, LOL!

If that wasn't a misprinted end of work time then at least you'd know that the boss isn't boring but instead is willing to be different! Too funny!

Old Kitty! Charlie! I've missed you both.

5.24pm? Odd. Funny though!

Summer Ross said...

Perhaps 5:42 is specific for some reason like a cake party after 5pm or maybe something less fun like paper work?
Great pic of Charlie.

I'm pretty sure I wouldn't apply for a job that had such a specific quitting time. I'm thinking the boss might be a little picky...

Just wanted to say thanks. You inspired me to go job hunting on the university website and I actually found one worth applying for (and that I was even vaguely qualified for), and applied (closing day was the next day), waiting to hear from them. But it made me feel good just applying.
much love
