Simply The Best!

Bloggie friends!

Are y’all enjoying the Olympics – both human and feline/canine (see side bar!) of course? Me and Charlie definitely are!

I have two favourite Olympian sporting people and moments so far:

First is Niger rower Hammadou Djibo Issaka who as a wild card entry came in last in his heat in the sculls competition but he tried, really tried to cross that finishing line.

Then there’s Nur Suryani Mohamad Taibi of Malaysia, eight months pregnant, who came 34th out of 56 competitors in the women’s air rifle shooting final asking her as yet unborn daughter “to be quiet, mummy’s shooting” while she competed.

I kind of feel I’m this sort of people. I do try and give things my best. I may not win accolades or fame and fortune but I’d like to say that hey, I tried, really tried my best.

Charlie says: I try to sleep on messy bed.

Pic taken last night! Charlie is doing ok – more vet’s visits to come I’m afraid but for now, he’s doing ok.

p.s. Lovely Madeleine of Scribble and Edit is having a book launch for her debut romance novel Ultimate Sacrifice on 1 August! Go Madeleine (a short extract of her book may be found here)!!!

p.p.s. Amazing Ellen Whyte of Katz and Other Tales now has her Katz Tales series of books available at Smashwords and Barnes and Noble too! Extracts of her fab series may be found here.!!

Have a great week! I’ll be offline on 1 and 2 August, but will catch up with everyone asap!

Charlie
our Dad is a BIG fan of the Olympics. He is taping all of it to watch every second. Mom not so much. Besides she knows who won the events before they are shown on tv.

We are purring for you Charlie. We know you will be good as new in no time.

Oh yeah, loved the bit where the corgis were running wild around Buckingham palace. Arf! Arf!
I shudder to think they have a 'skulls' competition. Or maybe I'm getting a 'head' of things here...
And those inspirational people make you feel inspired in knowing you're doing your best. I say you are adored and that's an accolade in itself.
Yay to all your links. And speaking of messy beds....

Thanks for sharing these Olympic stories! There is so much going on, Teri can't keep up with it all!

We hope Charlie gets over his 'hurdle', too!

there is something very admirable about trying in the face of adversity. Charlie looks comfy but I am sorry he has to go back to see his doctor :(

I prefer the Winter Olympics. Too, I don't have the time for it this go around, but I am trying to stay up with it on the news and websites.

The blind South Korean impresses me the most.

Cheers.

By the way, I am hosting a 3-day blog fest entitled, "The Dog Days of Summer." I'd love to have you stop by!

We're Charlie's type, ourselves. Nappin in the bed is what we do best. (and we give it our all!)

Helena said...

So glad Charlie is doing okay.

I love those kind of Olympic stories too! It's the underdogs and athletes from war-torn countries who are especially inspiring. I'd LOVE to see the young woman sprinter from Afghanistan because she's had to fight just to be accepted at home. Hurray for Olympians like her!

I've been mainly watching the swimming :-)
Bless you and Charlie - he looks nice and cosy on the bed. Big hugs for you both xx

Mark said...

Charlie always looks cute :) I haven't been watching the Olympics really. Which seems really bad because I'm English and all. But it is quite impressive that an 8 month pregnant woman was involved in it, and did so well too. I imagine a baby bump probably messes with one's aim.

Glad to see Charlie looking so comfortable. Hope the vet appointments go well.

I loved the image of the Olympian talking to her baby!

Bless you for the shout out for Ultimate Sacrifice. x

Glad Charlie is doing okay. Fun to see the sports you enjoyed watching. We're watching lots of swimming because my daughter is a swimmer.

Fuzzy Tales said...

I've been watching a lot of the coverage but missed both those participants, unfortunately. 8 months pregnant? Seriously? Boy, am I impressed! Talk about determination and dedication for both.

Continued good vibes, purrs and paws and fingers crossed for Charlie.

I'm happy to hear Charlie's doing well. The important thing is that he's healthy. :)
RE: Olympics, I'm not watching them. I haven't in years. I kinda lost interest a while ago :(
Congrats to Madeleine on her book launch!

I didn't realise Charlie was still visiting the vet - is it tooth related or something else? Glad to hear you are enjoying the Olympic Games - are you far from the stadium?
Heard from Bin today and she doesn't like the colours of the Malaysian constumes! Take care. Sue.

I feel so sorry for poor sweet Charlie! He looked so sad in this photo. I do hope he'll be OK!

I have been watching the Olympics on and off as we are busy helping my daughter and son-in-law settle into their new home and spending time with my grandsons. When I watch the competitions I am amazed by the dedication each athlete has shown to get to where they are. They are all heroes!

Good luck Charlie!

Hello, dear friend. Jen and I have watched the Olympics in the past, but we no longer have TV. Too expensive for what she would watch on it--game shows and checking the weather. $70 for that! But then there are those special times such as this. I did get a whiff of the games through Hilary Melton Butcher's post, and now yours. Enjoy, enjoy! Jen says hi and hi and hi, and so do I with lots of hugs. Thanks for your lovely inimitable comment on my post where I just reviewed a crime thriller!! All our "Best" wishes for a delightful week!!!

Hi Charlie, you are doing great sleeping on the messy bed :-)
So glad you are well. I hope the vet visits will go well too!

I can't imagine how baby kicking might throw off your shooting.

Look at Charlie using his tail as a pillow. Too cute!

Glad you're enjoying the Olympics. I am too.

Happy week! And hope Charlie does well through continued doctor visits.

I'm watching the Olympics right now as I blog. Thanks for sharing your favorite moments so far. Are you near the stadium? Tons of extra traffic? Everyone all pumped up? I remember how excited we were when it was held in Los Angeles years ago, even though I lived 60 miles from all the action. Just knowing how close it was got everyone into the spirit!

Hugs for Charlie.

Why would Charlie have to go to the vet again? Is it the calici virus?

We are enjoying the Olympics a lot. It is so interesting to see all of it.
Charlie, we are sorry you have to go back to the vet. Why do you have to do that?? Hope you aren't still sick.
We are sending tons of purrs your way that you get over all this darn illness. Have a great day and we will miss the Mom. Take care.

Haven't had much opportunity to watch the Olympics, and most of what I've seen is bits and pieces. I had heard about the mom-to-be but not the other athlete. Thanks for sharing!

Enjoy your time off, and I'm glad to hear Charlie is doing well.

Oh! I'm just catching up, and I saw that Charlie had to have all his teeth out. :o|

You've told us he's OK, so I"m glad to hear it. But I imagine he's still adjusting. *scratches*

We love the gymnastics, of course. I know, how unoriginal. But oh well! :D Have a super week~ <3

I get the Olympic reports through others. I have a kind-of-a dumb country TV station out here and I never turn it on because I don't know how it works. Frustration but I don't really miss TV. Hope Charlie is well. My new cats are old and the small one doesn't seem to have good teeth. My cats need those choppers to catch "mices."

We're catching the odd bit of Olympics in Spain. It was odd watching Spain play England at basketball - we were the only people hoping England might win. (What a vain hope that was!)

I hope Charlie keeps on doing well. He obviously has a cushy life on that bed!

I love to watch the competitors that aren't participating in sports that are "professionalized." Watching the Williams sisters and other tennis professionals isn't fun because they can always be seen.

Great to see you getting better - here's to a good bill of health .. cheers Hilary
