Charlie’s fiendish foray into bad poetry writing lost me a few followers. Oh dear. I am so sorry! :-)
So today, let’s talk names bloggie friends!
I nearly trip over this little boy who decided it was fun to sit on a step in the middle of a moving escalator.
His name? Erasmus - as in “Get off that step, Erasmus, I mean it!” from his mum.
Erasmus! How unusual is that name?
Next, I’m taking down a phone message for my boss. The guy on the other line tells me his name.
“It’s Scott,” he says, “with a double tee then Sherman, as in the tank. Scott Sherman.”
Gerrit? Sherman Tank??
Charlie says: It is time to get out and write more bad poetry.
Happy Tuesday, everyone!

Why does Erasmus sound so familiar? Apparently the common Danish first name Rasmus is a contraction of "Erasmus". Also, Erasmus Darwin was a physician, poet and grandfather of Charles Darwin. How's that for some trivia? lol
happy tuesday Charlie and Jenn
Erasmus is a great name.
Who would unfollow after reading Charlie's poetry?
I guess we missed the bad poetry....how bad could it be? Thanks for the questions about Robert Lake and Lake Susan - I should have you edit my posts - you always ask such good questions that I take for granted. Must be the writer in you. I added the info to the post - I wrote about Lake Susan here http://wncmountainliving.blogspot.com/2010/08/lake-susan-montreat.html and Robert Lake was a son of a very prominent family in town. Happy week for you!
I don't mind your poetry at all. And I love charlies voice. :)
Erasmus is an odd name, especially on a kid. But we all have to start somewhere, I guess.
I have also heard some unusual names lately. I think everyone is trying to name their children unique and different names. Probably their children will grow up and want their children to be Mary and John :)
OH dear Charlie
We can't possibly imagine how you could lose any followers!
Hi ho on to a very happy Tuesday!

Your play on names is delightful!
I was browsing through some of your earlier posts that I missed, and I saw the link to your entry on The Clarity of Night blog. I wrote a comment I hope you'll go over and read!! The story is stunning!!! Your images are incredible. What you've written is close to a prose poem. This is my highest compliment, since good poetry isn't easy to write. You've used poetic elements--tight writing, vivid imagery, and incredibly sensory details--to stunning effect!!! You must never stop writing!!!!

Where I live, there are indeed some unusual names! And Charlie can write poetry any time.
Those are some really funny names.
But, why would anyone want to stop following your site? The only thing I can think of is that they moved to Wordpress or something, or they lost their email account. I look forward to seeing what Charlie is up to everyday.
You lost followers because of Charlie's poetry?? Shame on them. Bad followers, good Charlie.
I get so confused when people tell me how to spell their name using words like that: B as in boy, E as in earth, C as in cake.... bla bla bla. I'm still thinking about a boy on the earth eating cake and I stop listening. I want to tell them to just give me letters, not words!!
What do you call a kid named Erasmus for short? E? Ras? Raz? Raz could be cool...
awww, that's so cute of Charlie.
Scott Sherman.... or Sherman Scott. He's got 2 front names or 2 back names. Oh well...
I didn't think your poetry was bad at all! Probably better than mine anyway ;-)
Erasmus? Oh dear! I feel sorry for the poor kid.
LOL! Yesterday's post shoud have gained you more followers!
A girl at my school called Susan had a middle name Kay and She'd say my name is Susan Kay... and they'd say what is the K for? :O)
Lost you followers? How? They don't know what their missing, I say.
Ellie Garratt
Don't you love the examples people use when giving their name. I am forced to use Hillary Clinton when people think I am saying Lori or some other name...
I lol and have never heard that name before. Very unusual.. Lose followers never.. Hugs GJ xx
Oh, dear...Sorry you lost a couple of followers, but that's likely more to do with "housecleaning" and not being able to keep up. Charlie's poetry wouldn't drive them away, surely.
As for the names...Well, Scott Sherman is okay, but Erasmus? Poor child. Truly.
I don't think I've ever heard the name Erasmus! At least he's got a unique name!
I think your Erasmus must be related to my 'Sombrero' girl from last summer.
We bet that little boy, Erasmus will have to put up with lots of silly nick names as he gets older especially when he starts school.
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
MOL!!!!!!!!!!!!
OK and Charlie, we LOVE the poetry both of you write.
We feel so blessed to have you as friends.....needless to say we love ya!!!!!!!
Since Hubby mails all over the world, we see a lot of strange names...bu ERASMUS? Never that.
Hi Charlie! Hope you are having a good Tuesday!!
~ Phillip
That was a very strange name, the one starting with an E. I won't even try to spell it. And the Scott Sherman is hysterical. Charlie, you better watch out for Mum, she is on a roll. Take care.
Charlie thinks Erasmus is going to go through hell all through school...
The only Erasmus I ever knew was a Dane. And he was beautiful. (as Danes are)... He was an exchange student when I was in high school and MAN, did I have a crush on him... (so my answer is, I think in Denmark, it isn't so uncommon, but it's true... don't see it here, and apparently not much there...
Charlie is such a fluffy kitty butt!!! I love him.
Erasmus --- Really? There are no words.

Hmmm, did we miss something important? We don't remember any foray into poetry that would chase off any followers.
Well that's too bad you lost some followers. Because of your poetry? No way! Their loss.
Thankfully you didn't run in to Erasmus on the escalator and trip over him.
What you got around your neck, Charlie? Looks like a collar of fur.
I always think there is an "or else," to a cat's thoughts. Wondering what Charlie's or else could be.
