Bloggie friends! It's official! I am a no-talent loser!! And will never ever be good enough! LOL!
Not like the wonderful Simon Kewin, whose beautiful story got an honourable mention in the Clarity of Night short story competition! Yay for Simon! His fab story is here and it is beautiful!
My story? Nada. Cos I knew my entry was rubbish.
When will I ever learn that I'll never be the bridesmaid let alone the bride? I guess I'll confine myself to being the erm.. porter! LOL!
Oh but thank you all so much for reading and leaving such sweet comments, thank you!
And yay Simon, fairyhedgehog, Brigid and Four Dinners aka Maximus Spittimus's Two Legs!
Charlie says: There's gold in bad poetry writing.
Happy Thursday, everyone!
Not to worry - this bit of self-indulgent pity party is but a glitch in my otherwise perky demeanour! Oh but when I wallow, I wallow! I'm a drama queen darn it! I'm an artist, albeit a rubbish one! Ok I'll stop now! LOL!

We all need our own pity party now & then. What better way to do it than blogging about it?
Wishing you the best!

I totally disagree. Your story was not rubbish and I voted for it as one of my readers' choices. Plus you got the asterisk that says you're in the forties club. So don't go saying you can't write well just because you didn't win a prize!
But sorry you feel that way. *hugs*
buck up girl!
I thought it was a fine story!
Everyone needs a good old pity party every once in a while. Hope you watched lots of old movies, ate lots of chocolate and sampled the occasional glass of wine. Once you have exhausted all of the above....go out and buy shoes! Then you will be ready to take on the world again! No really it helps....Really!
Kitty, nothing you write is rubbish! And Charlie won't let you wallow for long.
Aw, you say the nicest things. But you definitely are NOT a no-talent loser. Don't ever give up!
I just took a peek at the competition results.
Old Kitty, you got an asterix which is for a high score.
I certainly didnt earn one.
The thing about competitions is that they are all subjective, that one was tricky as it seemed to be all science fiction! I entered a dark story which is different from whate I usually write, so what I take from that is to stick to what I normally do and avoid the darker stuff.
I would not feel in the slightest bit downbeat if I were you, you had a great story.
Oh I can so empathise. I feel the same as rejection after rejection plops through my door but then all the great authors had multiple rejections, so things can only get better (I shuld listen to my own advice LOL!) :O)
That is OK, we all have to vent sometimes and isn't that one reason we blog. We can just tell the world that everything stinks and then come back tomorrow with a big smile about something. Take care.
I am going to come over there and pull your ear! This was just not the right fit for you! You'll find a home for that poetry very soon.
Kisses to Charlie!
You're allowed a wallow now and again. Rejection in any form feels lousy. I'm sending a hug from across the pond. (( )) Just take a peek at your short story credits to feel better.
For what it's worth, I liked your story.
Dear Jennifer,
At least you entered the contest. A lot of aspiring writers don't even do that. So baby steps will get you to your goal. Ah, one more thing, do NOT compare yourself to anyone else or you will never be happy with your own accomplishments (your writing, in this case). If you keep telling yourself you're not good enough, then you'll internalize it, making it "your truth". Remember, your readers will believe in you if you believe in yourself ;)
What do some of these critics know??????? They only know what appeals to them......there are sooooooooo many of us out here that appeal to other writing.....we loved your story, OK.....don't despair....critics don't know it all!!!!!!!!!
What a totally handsome dude you are, Charlie.
Love to both of you.
LOL! You're so funny. And NOT TRUE!!! I can't allow you to say such horribly false things about yourself. The judges are idiots.
There. :o) <3
Oh some days are just like that. Go ahead and wallow. Then when you get the publishing credits, the joy will be all the sweeter.
You're allowed to have a pity party and wallow (preferably in dark chocolate, IMO) -- as long as you realize that this DOESN'T mean you are a "no-talent loser" who never will be "good enough." Those sentiments are rubbish. There are countless authors who had to struggle and face overwhelming rejection -- they didn't give up, and you ought not to either!
(((Hugs))) and Light.
Oh, honey, you'll get there. The problem with contest is 1) they are subjective, 2) you have NO WAY of knowing if you were NEXT in line and 3) you have no control whatsoever over the competition.
I'm sorry, Jennifer. The last contest I entered I didn't win either. It bummed me out because I thought I had a great story. :( I'm sure the next one for both of us will be winners. :D
The truth is...I don't believe you, you are a great writer, so there...I feel better for having said that!
It is OK to have a pity party, as long as it doesn't last too long!
You are a winner because we love to read your blog! You are an amazing writer and you need to give yourself a day of pity, the start to write again.
No Looser's in the Blogosphere!!!!!
Aww dont be too hard on yourself. You will get there I am sure.. Have faith and dont give up.. Hugs GJ xx
Every writer is allowed to have a pity party once in a while.
*leaves chocolate cake with extra sprinkles*
Ok, we are so behind - we are sorry you didn't do as well as you wanted to. But hey, if you enjoy writing that is the most important thing - it is like our mom and jewelry making - she likes it and so even if no one else did she would still do it.
And Hi Charlie! WE have missed you both while our mom wasn't letting us do visiting - we hope you are doing well!!
Writers are entitled to a pity party now and again. And your story wasn't rubbish at all!
What do you cats say about your story? Our opinions are nothing compared to their majesties. :) And I'm thinking they know your story rocks.
P.S. I've left a response to your comment on Bird’s-eye View at http://michellefayard.blogspot.com/2011/07/getting-blog-comments-to-work-for-you.html.
I'm glad you are now quoting Scarlet O'Hara - you can write!
It Is part of the process, I will read your work n return. I doubt it was bad, but it is sad not to win. Keep at it, you never know when it will be your turn to shine!
oh no ---I cna'rt believe your wonderful story was not chosen for a prize. It was very well deserving. Remember contests are always subjective and not alwaysbased on merit. You rock, Old Kitty!
