Tis and That Hat!

Tis the hour before the cake is done
My eyes are droopy and I’m not having fun
My duvet and hot water bottle are calling
From my bed but I must continue ignoring
As the clock ticks towards midnight, I’m straining
To keep awake -for if I don’t there might be a burning!

Et voila!!!

Behind that brown wrapping inside that tin is the Christmas cake – 4 hours later!!!!!

Charlie says: I kick out your hot water bottle and keep your messy bed warm!

NEWSFLASH!! Charlie is about to be "hatted" today by the adorable Sammy and Andy and talented mum!!!

What does that mean bloggie friends? Wait and see.... *cue twilight zone music* LOL!

Have a marzipan Monday everyone!

Yay you got your cake made! Does it now soak in rum or brandy? Do you put a marzipan covering and a hard white icing on it? I LOVE cakes like this!

Can't wait to see Charlie hatted! How did the cake come out and why is it in a bag? Did I miss something?

I remember my mother doing the brown paper thing with Christmas cakes! Your picture did take me back.

I don't make Christmas cakes, and I can't make Yorkshire pudding the way she used to - seriously delicious, it was, and when I tried after she died it came out like cardboard.

Yaay, enjoy your cake!

My colleague told me that it's blasphemous that I do not believe in cakes (I don't like cakes, yup!)...

Oh well, but you do! Enjoy!

Tell me about this Christmas cake... I'm intrigued... But does it involve chocolate? :)

BTW, I hate cooking or baking late at night and things never turn out for me tired... so kudos to you for soldiering on! It was nice of Charlie to keep the bed warm for you... what a thoughtful kitty.

We saw Charlie with his hat on and he looks just stunning.
We are coming too to have some of that four hour cake. Do we get to see the finished product?? Get it out of that paper bag.
Take care and have a wonderful week.

my kitty Flower becomes extremely cuddly in the cold weather. It's funny b/c all the rest of the time, she'll let you pet her for a few scratches... then CHOMP! :D

yep, she's a nipper. Scratch Charlie for me. Good luck w/the hat~ :o)

Hi there,
It's me, Penny. I was going to let Gary leave a comment but I changed my mind.
That's a really neato poem. And, I'm wondering if it's okay for me to eat Christmas cake. Probably not.
Anyway, this 'marzipan', does it come from Mars, as in the planet?
Pawsitive wishes, Penny. 'Arf, arf..' Why am I suddenly thinking
Dr. Seuss and 'The Cat in the Hat'? lol

As you can see, I'm catching up on your posts. Between a cold and Thanksgiving, I'm behind!

I want to see the cake!

I love your witty, little poems. I've never used a water bottle, but you're tempting me. Sounds like a lovely way to fall asleep.
