The Terror of Chapter 7

Bloggie friends here I am tap tapping away on my keyboard in my little office area and tearing my hair out by my Chapter 7 (eeek I switch points of view mid way and didn’t realise!!) when outside of my window I hear a familiar

“Ting-ting-ting-ting–a–ling-ling”

[Yes, bloggie friends the sound of a bell on a cat collar]

I stare out and what do I see???

This:

I’m like "Charlie! Noooooooo!"

Only cos the garden he wants to jump into is owned by a real life police husband and wife team with two gorgeous black cats that Charlie terrorises I mean visits frequently to say hello, please be my friend.

Charlie says: No I don’t. I go there to show them whose boss.

Meanwhile back to tearing my hair out...!
:-)

Have a toe tapping Tuesday everyone!

Best of luck; I'm so impressed you are up to chapter 7 already. Wow! Kudos to you!

Big smooches to daring Charlie, of course.

Thank you for always being such a faithful commenter on my blog! You are too kind! I juggle pet sitting and blogging and that means that sometimes I can't do both and that's why I haven't written to you lately.
I admit I am lost about your chapters here and wonder if you are writing a book for publishing....I will re-check your previous blogs to find out though!
I thought it was both funny and harrowing that your Charlie is persistent about making friends with the next door cats and I hope Charlie returned home unscathed. I do not let our 2 cats out of the house alone b/c I am an overprotective cat mom but I do take Henry out with me but he is wearing a harness attached to a very long leash! He loves it very much!

Oh Charlie, you're just so neighborly!

Oh NO! Charlie be careful! That is a beautiful fence you are walking on. But have a care, you could fall into the den of kitties on the other side.
Good luck with Chapter 7!

Look at Charlie so balanced!

Chapter 7?! You rock! I am amazed how you're booking through this. All these classes and writing prompts was leading to this.

Have a great week!

Charlie is such an adventuresome guy! And friendly! And I'm so excited that you're writing all the way up to Chap. 7, so a novel? A memoir? I think I might have missed a few posts about what you are working on.

Charlie is actually a Cat Police Detective...he goes next door to check up on things...and be friendly with the locals. Really!

Good luck with the revisions...Chapter 8, next!

Love how you cancel out the word 'terrorises'.
So on one side of the wall, human is boss and on the other the cat is boss. LOL!

Good luck with chapter 7! And I think it's sweet that Charlie wants to make friends with his neighbors. :)

First, I hope you stopped writing and saved Charlie.

Second, in Chapter 7--Did you change POV for the rest of the book of just for a short period? Which POV feels right? I would change the ms to the POV that "feels" right for the story. Best wishes...

Remember it's IDSKFY week!

Maybe you should walk away from writing for a few hours or a day, read a book, watch a movie=just get away and go back to Chapter 7 with fresh eyes and a clear perspective about where you want to take it...Just my thoughts, what do I know about writing?!!...Hang in there, Jenn...Impressed with Charlie's climbing and balance skills; hope that gorgeous boy came home soon from terrorizing, er, befriending the neighbor kitties...xo...J, Calle, Halle, Sukki

Hope you don't tear all your hair out.

Are POV switches really so bad? I know people always say, ooh, don't do it mid-chapter, the reader will explode with confusion etc., but published books do it all the time I find. I find it rather exhilirating.

Just a thought. Have a productive Tuesday. Wish I was writing - am currently "working" at the day job!

You show your MS who's boss, Old Kitty! You can do it - or at least stop tearing your hair out!

I switch POV in my chapters. But I actually have insert break and spell it out with a sub-title.

I guess Charlie needs to practice on the neighbours' cats so he remembers how to keep you in line :-)

It's important to show others who is boss - good work Charlie!

Eeek. Don't do it Charlie!

Well done on getting to chapter 7. May the flow of words continue. Don't follow Charlies example by sitting on the fence!!!LOL. Hope you are feeling better. Have a wonderful day.

Charlie has a head for heights too it seems - we're glad he has some friends living close by - he could have been lonely without them to go round and meow to while you are editing your book.

Charlie, you had better come home. How will Mom ever finish Chapter 7?? We need to get on with Chapter 8, so Charlie get your cute butt home and quit visiting the neighbors.
Hope you have a great writing day.

My cat made me take the bell off her collar, because she can't stand it. Poor birds in our neighbourhood have definitely thinned out. At least Charlie's victims have some warning!

Hart Johnson said...

Good luck with the editing! I hear you on that misbehaving PoV (I had a warbling tense not long ago).

And OH, Charlie! Stop that! *giggles*

Charlie we think you are getting a little to bold with the neighbor cats - you might want to pull back on that a bit!

O.K.,
Yeah, those POV's can switch up on you. But it's only a 1st draft, don't worry about it. Make a note of it & continue on fearlessly.

Charlie, play nice!
