The one thing I’m learning as I ponder my chapter 11 is getting in touch not only with my inner 10 year old but how my nephews were at that age.
Also by being my nosey self and grabbing random bits of youth speak - without getting beat up of course.
Most ten year olds are taller than me! LOL!
So while I ponder away, here is a lovely clip of a wild fox finding the simple joy of play - accompanied by one of Chopin’s Nocturne pieces.
Lovely.
Charlie says: I am not impressed with your attempts to play with me.
Have a tuneful Tuesday everyone!

Abby
happy tuesday dear charlie
and dear kitty too..
What a great video! Just goes to show everyone needs time to play.
(There at the end I thought we were going to see the 'simple pleasure of tearing the garbage up!)
Have fun you two!
Watching that fox play was an absolute delight. That would be quite a surprise to view first hand!
Sending you lots of good vibes for chapter 11 and big smooches for Charlie.
gambol all you can, wee raynard... summer is ending and the snow cannot be far behind...
good thinking, charlie ;) lol
What a beautiful cat!! We have 4!
Charlie...send yer Human over to our crib...we'll learn yer teeny tiny Mom how to make a totaly rad toy!
Hang in there, Charlie. She'll get tired pretty soon....
Perhaps Charlie's too tired to entertain you! LOL!
Why don't you ask your nephews to be Alpha readers for you? They probably will be very honored...and helpful. :)
It sounds like things are moving right along with your manuscript=good for you, Jenn!...A precious video; that fox is really sweet playing by himself!...We would love for handsome Charlie to come by and play with us sometime :)...xoxo...J, Calle, Halle, Sukki
Beautiful video, lovely post.
....and I think that I'm falling in love....
with Charlie.
Have a nice day, Boonie
Yeah! Pick up the pace human! (it helps if you boss them more Charlie)
That is such a gorgeous video, nice music too. The whole thing made me feel happy.
What a fantastic video I loved it thanks for sharing :-)
Loved the cute video! My mother is a pianist and this piece is one of my favorites.
Charlie, we think that stick looks like fun to play with!
What a silly fox. But he is having such a good time. Great video. Back to work for you Mom, on Chapt. 11.
Hi there Charlie. You are looking terrific.
Hope everyone has a spectacular day.
Hi Charlie - the trouble with our mum is she expects us to play ball with her and she gets so excited when she throws it and we let her fetch it back and throw it again. If her throwing was more accurate and landed at our paws we might feel inclined to bat it back to her! We can see your heart wasn't in your game either - we can see you humour Jenn too.
That was a cute little foxie! Have some fun Charlie!!!
It's good you have a nephew to observe.
Half of my fifth-graders were always taller than me. And now my twelve-year-old son is up to the bridge of my nose. Won't be long now!
Charlie is so dignified, but I think he misses his old toy.
That fox was having a grand old time with that ball!
Hahaha - Charlie says behold the red stick of doom! I don't think I'd want to play with that red stick either. :)
Good luck with the child-speak!
That fox is so cute! He was very cat-like in how he played, wasn't he? I think that is what I found surprising.
One point on 10-year olds... while they can be silly and playful, they tend to be quite literal--things like sarcasm and such aren't developed yet.
Beautiful! Love this, Old Kitty.
I think writing YA is so, so hard. Thinking like a 10-year-old is a harder than it might seem.
The trouble with language is it changes so much with each generation - words we used when we were ten sound so old-fashioned now! I've given up trying to follow my fifteen year old's phrases and resigned myself to being thought of as an out-of-date mum! I can offer a twelve-year-old's opinion on how ten-year-olds speak if you wish to have it, but that's the closest I can get! And he's taller than me! xx
I agree Charlie - that stick isn't very tempting...
Thanks so much for sharing this video. I didn't know that foxes played football but clearly this 1 does & seemed to enjoy him or herself.
I take it that Charlie isn't much of a footballer?!
