Coffee interlude

The Coffee Bean

I ponder the force of the coffee bean
Grown somewhere tropical, steamy and hot
Do they know the impact they have on us?
Caffeine-addicts too busy or just rushed
Needing a kick - a hit to start the day?

Drawn by the aromatic smell, they burn
These brown jewels that built empires of yore
Pungent, roasted and reeking of tar.
Beans that feed nations dependent them
Raise my blood pressure and give me the burps
These little brown beans, not so little, no more.

[written by Old Kitty!!!]

Charlie says: They also gives you laser eyes!

I apologise for ambushing you all with a poem! Sorry! :-)

Thank you so much for all your theories about the sunflower in the hanging basket! I must really have some acrobatic birds here! LOL!

Have a thoughtful Thursday everyone!

I do like your coffee bean poem! Buying "fair trade" is the big thing these days, since so many coffee growers barely eke out a living otherwise, I think. Alas, I can no longer drink a regular cup of coffee. :-(

Big smooches and kitty kisses to sweet Charlie!

NO, don't apologize for your poems, they're awesome! :) Haha I'm drinking my morning coffee at the moment whoaaa. And Charlie's laser eyes are awesome. By the way - I've got a dog (named Fairytale, which, believe me, sounds million times better in my language), and she just LOVES coffee. Seriously.

A poem too of magnitudinous proportions
But poor Charlie’s eyes are subject to flash distortions….

All the best, Boonie

That is a wonderful poem Jenn. I don't drink coffee and I even enjoyed it. Well written.
Charlie your eyes are looking very much like lazers.
Hope you both have a wonderful day.

Is it the poem or the coffee that makes Charlie's eyes light up? I think some of my friends think I'm odd because I hate coffee!

I loooove coffee, and think it should have more poems devoted to its caffeinated deliciousness. I'm having a morning cup right now.

More poems please!

Great poem! I love the smell of coffee, but unfortunately I have to drink decaf because of migraines. I now inhale the aroma from the LSO' cup.

You're pretty enthusiastic about coffee! Charlie seems to be looking bright & alert--did he sneak a few sips?
