Booty Cut

Ok - so I've started to edit my 78% Grade 2 novel and have snipped nearly all of chapter 1! Hah!

Bloggie friends, it feels painfully good to do so.... NOT!

Eeek!!!

Am I doing the right thing? Who knows? Pass on my next dose of ibuprofen and paracetemol! I'm emboldened by my delirium!

In the meantime, I've found a way of keeping my feet warm because no matter that it's summer outside, my feet are chilly!

So here I am modelling my faux fur booties!!

Charlie says: Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Have a frollicking fab Friday everyone!

Congrats on all the editing you've done. It may be painful now but later on you'll be glad.

Hi Charlie, hope you're getting enough sleep!

What do you mean by, "Grade 2 novel"?

When I first wrote, each word was sooo important and I couldn't cut anything. Now I cut without mercy.

Poor you, so cold in the summer? It's not fair you're sick in warm weather. I hope Charlie keeps you nice and warm.

I hope you're saving the bits you're cutting out in case you need them later!

I'm sorry you're still poorly. At least you have Charlie to look after you(!)

Sometimes you've got to be ruthless. If you're going by your gut instinct, then I'd say you're right.

Good luck with the editing!
Love the booties.

It's "just" a cold, right? You don't have a secondary bacterial infection that needs antibiotics, do you? Because if you are not getting better, get your butt off to your doctor!

As for the edits...all I can do is wish you good luck. LOL.

I'd like to do what Charlie is doing. Please tell me how the fur kids know when 4AM rolls around, even if I've gone to bed a couple of hours later than usual?

Sending you lots of Light that you feel much better soon, Jennifer!

I think in nearly every piece I've ever written I've cut off anywhere from several paragraphs to several pages off the beginning. I guess it takes me a while to get to the meat of the story!

It's painful to edit, but so necessary! I recently took out the entire first chapter of my wip. It hurt, but I think it's so much better this way!

WEll maybe it is a good thing that you took out a lot, then you can jut add some new ideas. Sorry to hear you are still not well. Charlie, you sure have the right idea. Good job helping that Mom. Hope you have a really good week end.

We like your furry foot covers - we can't believe how cold and wet it is goodness knows what winter will be like if this is "summer"!

At least you have got some of your book editing done - with Charlie's help of course!

Hope you feel much better soon.

Editing is ALWAYS painful! ALWAYS. And cutting a lot has to happen... it IS the right thing. You may want to ask yourself though, is it the right TIME. I don't recommend editing until the first draft is done, because it will just have to be RE-edited when the whole book is done, and part of what seems minor enough to cut now, may fit well in context of later. And your BRAIN may trick you, so you FORGET you cut something, then you write something that needs it... That would be my advice, anyway.

Happy Friday! It's so hard when you're editing, isn't it? A good piece of advice I heard when you're chopping bits is to keep a Word doc of the deleted stuff so you don't really feel so bad chopping it, and it's always there if you need it.

I hear you on the chilly thing - I'm wrapped up in a blanket right now! IN AUGUST! Sigh.

A warm cat on your feet doesn't keep you warm?

Oh Editting is so very very hard. I don't know why it is so hard to edit your own writing, but it definitely is...
We love your foot warmer, he looks very contented to be filling that position!
Happy editting, and we hopes you feel better soon.
