A Tardy Five

It’s my 5 month blog birthday!! Yay!!

So yesterday I went to the Ritz sporting the pimple on my chin that would have been funny if my sister didn’t beat me to it.

No, she didn’t spontaneously erupt in a pustule as big as mine.
Nope.

Wonderful bloggie friends, she was an hour and 10 minutes late.

We are booked into a specific timeslot of 1 hour and 30 minutes

(not 20 as I mistakenly said in my last blog post!).

We had exactly 20 minutes to eat, drink and be merry.

We have never sipped freshly brewed tea and ate perfectly cut and sliced sarnies, beautiful warm soft scones, meltingly delicious teensy weensy bitesize cakes so fast as we did then!

We had a great time!

Charlie says: So did I while you were away, me and my nip-cushion!

Have a terrific Tuesday everyone!

Trying to look hard like Gary Cooper - super duper

Next week Monday, my sister is taking me to have Tea at the Ritz.

For an extortionate amount of money, we have exactly 1 hour and 20 minutes to pretend we are posh and that we do this every day.

Which sort of got me thinking about tea.

Why don’t I drink tea more often? Why do I crave coffee more than a good cup of earl grey or Yorkshire tea? I used to love tea as a child – there were so many ways to make that perfect cup of tea.

My mum’s way was to let the tea brew first then add milk.

Her boyfriend at that time nearly had a heart attack when he saw me do this and said that it was milk first in the cup, then tea bag, then hot water. Needless to say that relationship didn’t last although he was a really nice bloke!

A friend of mine (whom I lost contact with regrettably) was from a Muslim household and she would boil the milk and tea bag together and serve it quite sweet.

Another friend drank only Earl Grey and she had a precise measurement of how much milk to add – too much and it’s spoilt, too little and she’ll send it back.

These days if I do choose tea, it'll be herb tea with honey.

If I ever decide to revert to drinking proper english tea over coffee - at least I could have teapots like these:

Now my next task is to pursuade my sister NOT to wear trainers under her long skirt on the day.

Charlie says: You have tea at the Ritz, I lick the dirt off the concrete. Just as good.

Have a spiffing good Thursday everyone!

You can't live with em you can't live without em...

Unable to contain my excitement about Charlie, I did a silly thing and told my sister - not the killer heelz sister, the other one!

:-)

Her reply was this:

"..don't you think you had enough of heartache? Why get another one? You can love and get attached to animals as you have known 6 times over so why give yourself more grief? Don't you like to travel before you grow really old? See the world, do other activities apart from your lovely creative writing or just give up your Sunday job rather than work 7 days a week because keeping a beloved pet could drain you emotionally, financially and psychologically. Besides you have already given more than 20 years to loving cats..."

S'okey she doesn't read my blog. Well she didn't last I checked!!

My point is this: Families. Dontcha just love em?!?!?!

:-)
p.s. I'm sure she means well!

Heels and squeals

Killer Heels

by Old Kitty

Killer heels, patent leather
Black, red or multi-coloured
Leggy models falling over
Limping off into the void.

In shops, online or displayed
Feet are raised at all angles
Unnatural and on tiptoes
No red carpet only woes.

Plasters, creams and pedicures
Blisters, bruises and cracked soles
Pounding pavements they click click click
These must-haves, these killer heels.

Inspired by my sister's pic sent to me to show off her gorgeous feet and NEW HEELS.
It's ok, she's in Australia and apparently they've been experiencing a heatwave.

:-)
